Background
Kesref was born to wealthy merchants in Calimport, one of twin sons. He and his brother were given every advantage as children - the best clothes, the best schools, the best of everything. His brother, Nazir, showed natural talent as a sorcerer - a talent that Kesref envied, and hated him for. Kesref studied to become a wizard, planning to overshadow his brother, but Nazir was constantly ahead of Kesref, and Kesref simmered over it.
Finally, he confronted his brother, and, attacking by surprise, secretly killed him. The gift that Nazir had backlashed into Kesref, and he nearly died as well. He was unconscious for days and when he awoke, his story of being attacked seemed plausible enough. It was only later that he discovered his brothers gift had somehow transfered itself to him.
Now, he seeks even more power - enough to drown out the quiet voice in the back of his mind - the voice of Nazir.
