As long as Vandis can keep from falling down so often . . .

Honestly, I'd prefer to stick to the rules. Kenneth died fair and honest. Spoken as one killer GM to another . . .

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

GM only:

Spoiler:
Umm, Kenneth isn't dying. He's at negative bloodied; he's dead GiM.

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Kenneth advances on the remaining Dog Brother thug, grinning. "Well, if nobody else is going to put you out of our misery, I guess I'll be the one."

Move: F5. Standard: Guiding Strike vs AC 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6, on hit -2 to D3's AC TEOMNT

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Kenneth looks sourly at Vandis. "Not again!" The bard steps into the room and takes in the situation. "Ok, big man (not you, the other one, the standing-up one). Come on down and show us what those muscles can do."

Minor: Majestic Word on Vandis, surge+4. Move: H5. Standard: Cutting Words vs Will on Irocar 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 psychic, and pull to F14 on hit, forcing a save against falling.

As the thug captain stumbles, Kenneth looks with curiosity at his wand,. "Well, look at that, it works!"

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Sorry, Kenneth's player has been out of it lately. That, and Kenneth is down to one heal, so was saving it for somebody dying.

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"Of course, my friend. One moment -- a little unfinished business."

Kenneth steps up beside the spirit and runs D5 through with his shortsword. The bard then draws his new wand in his left hand.

Move to I6. Guiding Strike vs AC 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7. In the unlikely event D5 still stands, he has -2 to Fort TEOMNT.

GM:

Spoiler:
Kenneth will use Virtue of Prescience as an interrupt on any ally hit by I, adding 2 to the relevant defense.

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"Ok, fortune-teller, pull yourself together," Kenneth mutters to himself. Pulling himself groggily to his feet, he stumbles a bit down the stairs.

Majestic Word on self, hp tracker updated. Stand. Shift 1 S.

They could hardly not!

Kenneth can't fail the check. Init 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

"Oh, the Dog Brothers," Kenneth exclaims in delight. "There's someone downstairs who I just know will want to talk to you."

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"It seems likely I've tripped some kind of alarm. Do be ready for company."

Note that Kenneth already climbed the stairs a few posts back. Can he see anything behind the curtain?

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Kenneth freezes in place.

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Realizing Dannad isn't the lead-the-way sort of Guildmember, Kenneth sighs theatrically and ascends the stairs as quietly as he can, pushing aside the curtain with the blade of his shortsword.

Stealth: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Kenneth closes the shutters. "Well, well, look at that."

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"My thanks," Kenneth makes a small bow to Dannad before unfastening the shutters. "Always good to have more than one route out."

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Dannad?

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"Dannad, chum, it might be handy to have that window open, but I'm a bit leery of it. We'd be obliged if you'd check it out for us."

Dagobert the Luckless wrote:
Through the other curtain then. Dannad might like to go first and check for traps. Arthuro seems to have a fondness for them.

Well, the rest of us might like Dannad to go first, anyway . ..

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Through the ground-floor curtain?

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"Eh? Yes." Kenneth seems a bit distracted. "Let's be about our business." He tucks the scroll with the curious entries into his backpack.

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Kenneth returns with the ledger. "Before you knock out dear Arthuro, perhaps we could ask him to elaborate on these curious entries."

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"Care to help look, Vandis? We might even find something that fits you."

10 minutes is plenty to spend as far as Kenneth is concerned.HP and surges updated.

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"Ah, yes, good old Gregory. Went on to have about 3,000 children. Don't mind if I do, and I'll take a cautionary lesson." Kenneth happily pockets the wand.

Dagobert the Luckless wrote:
"Might be interesting. I wonder what it does." Dagobert prods experimentally. "Not that I can use it, but someone can I don't doubt."

"No doubt," Kenneth murmurs. "And look at this -- handy for anyone who uses a sling and perhaps something alchemical."

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

As Dagobert rootles, so rootles Kenneth.

Rootling (1d20+3=23, 1d12=2)

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"Nice little toy you've found, Dannad. Might come in handy."

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Arcana on dagger (1d20+8=17)

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"So that's what this was, eh?" Nature 9 "Sounds like a good job we killed it.

"Now, this is interesting," Kenneth goes on, lifting out the lantern. "What kind of creature was this?" he muses.

Arcana 21, Nature 20

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"Glad to help, glad to help," Kenneth answers Dannad absently, as he starts poking through the goods. "Good work, there, Dagobert -- remind me not to get on your bad side!"

With that, he launches into a long, rambling, but somehow entertaining, story about one of his relatives who once got mistaken for a wererat.

Song of Rest -- surges heal an additional +4. Spend 1 surge during rest to be at full. 5 minutes searching, Perception 19+3=22, go home rolling! 1d12=6.

Yes, I think so

Kenneth, for a change, does not gibe Vandis.

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"Fight's over, wakey, wakey," Kenneth appeals to Dannad.

2nd Majestic Word before short rest, surge + 4

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Kenneth struggles to find words to convey his revulsion at the otyugh, but for once his wit fails him.

Rolled a 2 on vicious mockery

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"Can't you stay out of trouble for six seconds?" Kenneth complains to Vandis, even as he sidles past the door (T8) and gingerly stabs at one of the grubs (O5) with his shortsword, then more vigorously, skewering it.

Guiding Strike vs O5 AC (1d20+7=12) The above text assumes that missed. Either way, AP for another Guiding Strike. Against O5 if needed, or against Arthuro. -2 to AC for target. Guiding Strike vs O5 or Arthuro AC (1d20+7=22, 1d6+4=9)

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

With a disgusted expression, Kenneth slips away from the nearest grub and taunts Arthuro once more. "An otyugh for a pet, I should have known. Come on and play with its babies."

Shift to S9. Cutting Words vs A's Will (for subdual) (1d20+4=15, 1d8+4=8) On hit, pull Arthur to T7.

TGZ101 wrote:
I'm giving Kenneth another 8 hours or so. Galad, you can go ahead and take your turn if you want.

Sorry, was dealing with end-of-vacation stuff. Thanks for rolling well for me. Back home now.

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

My action depends heavily on whether T2 is still standing. If he is:

Spoiler:
Kenneth advances on T2, smiling, "Now, where are you going?" and strikes with his shortsword.
Guiding Strike vs T2 AC (1d20+7=21, 1d6+4=5) If the tough is still standing, he takes -2 to AC TEOMNT

If T2 falls:

Spoiler:
Kenneth advances on Arthuro (T9), smiling, "You weren't thinking of leaving the fight, were you?"
Cutting Words vs Arthuro Will (1d20+4=21, 1d8+4=8) Arthuro is pulled two squares (T8)

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Vandis:

Spoiler:
Sorry, Kenneth hasn't really got down the "majestic" part yet

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Getting this in before heading out of town, sorry, Dagobert

Kenneth looks at the nearest tough engaging Vandis. "Oh, come on over here, big fella -- see how you do against a rag-man!" he taunts as he draws his shortsword.

Looking at Vandis himself, "Get up, you lazy northerner. We have work to do!"

Minor: Draw shortsword. Standard: Cutting Words vs T2 Will (1d20+4=24, 1d8+4=5) crit for 12hp and pull 2, to S10. Minor: Majestic Word on Vandis, healing for surge+4, and slide him a square if he likes.

Actually, the point of asking for a map was to see if it made sense to launch the attack myself -- i.e., a surprise round. Any chance?

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

Map may be relevant soon . . .

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"Ah, Arthuro. They didn't tell me it was you! Yes, we have something to sell, and I think you'll be particularly interested."

To Dannad: "Come on, shortbread. Get the goodies."

Bluff (1d20+11=17) Oops

M Human (Prescient) Bard/Cutthroat 1

"Pardon my friend, here," Kenneth interjects smoothly. "Everybody needs a hobby (or a passion). We do need to see The Fence, but our goods need an appreciative eye. They are of the small, fine, shiny type, as the halfling said. Kindly take us to The Fence, and we'll conclude our business."
