Version 1.0 is around the corner, time to super-charge the graphics. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/petroleum/qex-virtual-tabletop-applicat ion
After a long wait from 5, v6 is out with the first draft of scripts. It can now officially do: Templates: Alphabetically from Ghost to Vampire. (Outstanding: Zombie, Young and Giant) Feats officially started. Dodge now works properly, including flat-footed conditions. Surprise round is also possible. Next for v 0.7: The rest of the feats, Terrain: Forest maps, the first dozen or so animated monsters. Plus a shot at whatever else gets attention.

Yes, I am certainly still developping it. That list you posted must be well-maintained because my project is already in it. Development was slowed because I decided to go back and make it customizeable. Now a programmer can swap out the character sheet because it's been moved out to a dll (source included). Monsters are being redone by hand to improve integration so that Qex will be able to tack classes and items on them. I'll still get a v1.0 out in time for GenCon
Hiya... I started working on one of my own for the PFRPG. It was supposed to be running with full skills and feats by now, but I got distracted with an XP-compatibility issue. It's designed from a DM's point of view, so the players module is still lacking in options (like a character sheet), but here's a link anyway: (and another link to the DM's version) I didn't think of it until I read this thread, but it seems people might like an option to lay an image on the board... eg from .bmp or .jpg.

An elegant solution, however, my group would never take a spell that has an inherent chance of failure / biting back, especially when this chance of failure seems to rise whenever they're using it for something important. This restriction (as noted above in posts) effectively bars it from my game. *For the record, I had to remove PTF from my games - I outright told the players "You're not using it to discover the villain's home"
Finished adjusting the interface. Added tons of options like control-drag, camera-locking, most of the 3.0 SRD monsters (with some difficulties in face/reach) and the first flags (new units deploy around home flags). Going to test it tonight. If it runs well, I'll start into skills, feats and movement next week.

I know this is going to sound weird... but I would also template:
Also, I wouldn't mind a manual listed alphabetically. In 2e MM, when I wanted "Lion" I checked MM under "C" for cats and there was lion listed (along with the other felines). In 3.0e MM1, I have Lion under "L" but at the back of the book under "A" for animal. Furthermore, if I flip forwards, looking for Centipede, I will be thwarted, because Centipede comes after Lion :o
Well it's 3am and we just got through a long power session with it and the entire group but me hated it lol. Have to make it simpler, and more intuitive yet. But my group is pretty conservative, so if they like it that means it's pretty good. Thanks for the DMgenie link. I'm in love with the way they did the display of the combat round - round + init. Hot.
Got some screenshots and an early version up. Only a few on the menu options work - I haven't yet decided what should do what.
Hey cool... I just started a thread elsewhere about a tool I had started working on to act as an electronic battlemat so we could all connect our laptops and have a shared grid... not as powerful yet as the commercial programs out there, but might be better than the technological challenges of sharing a desktop... I'll get some beta's of the DM's module up later this week
I've started working on a DM's tool much like klooge (or the 4e one) but with a better price tag (free). Maybe I should key it for PathFinder. None of the rules, of course, that aren't OGL, but I think movement is a must. What standard monsters seem logical (goblin? ogre?). I already use my laptop to DM off of, and I get players who have to wait around waiting for slower players (read rules-lawyers) to hash out details. They'd optimally be able to key in actions for their henchmen while they wait. Opinions on what should / legally-can be added / left out? Or thoughts in general aboutthe concept?
Also: I still think you could continue to print your 4e items. You would win the law suit: WotC would be forced to not plagiarize, and so you would never have violated the GSL. (Now they could still get you by modifying the GSL to say "nekestro-bath monsters violate the GSL" and yank your 4e anyway) But you wouldn't need a lot of money to beat them on copyright. The woman who sued JK Rowling on plagiarism would have beaten all her high-priced lawyers if she only had valid proof (Link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/2268024.stm )

Be creative. Call it the "nekestro'banth", a two-tailed rodent of rat-like appearance. Get a legal copyright. When WotC takes your rat, let them yank your 4e, but sue them on copyright (Wait until after it hits shelves). You'll cost them more than they costed you (in their destroyed product). WotC won't beat copyright law. They can't use Superman and Batman. They won't be able to use your nekestro'banth.

As I understand from GSL (para. 7c), you could not use real-world demons anyway. Possibly not even old testament campaigns if a real-world religious group is still adhering to the practice. Might as well just use the book-defined cosmology. chopswil wrote:
You could probably win that in court. Your best-ever campaign world is so because of its cast of characters & events, not the few mechanics it introduced. Imagine in the day of 2e making a game world of dead / undead with separate areas devided by mists, ruled by a powerful lord named "Stred" and some fallen knight named "Lord Sith" and see if you got called out.
the regen idea is pretty good. More paperwork for the DM, I fear, but workable. As for the "golfbag of items", I'd suggest the DM should theme his encounters differently. For example, in the last 10 years of DMing, I've not thrown out a "DR/silver" monster. If I ever did now, I'd make sure it was mentioned somehow in the story, and I'd be certain there was no "DR/carrot" monsters. In otherwords, if the next ten missions of my campaign had lycanthropes, there would be a theme across them. Presumably by the end of the story-arc, the player no longer values the "+1 vs carrots" item and sells it off. In summary, I'd keep the monsters intersting with fanciful DRs

As someone said earlier this thread, if Paizo can move just 50 000 units a year, that's 50 000 more units they wouldn't have if they switched to 4e and went back to releasing add-on books. |
