The plant lashes out viciously at Devendell.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
Damage Roll: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

For those of you who haven't done this before, simply roll all your attacks and damage at the same time, then hit preview. Depending on your roll, you can write out your actions after.

The plant nevertheless misses, and coils back in on itself, writhing just inside the bush.

Male

"I should hope not, Micel was always very good at his job..."

Male

Pushed back by Jacques and Lorasadi, a large thorn-covered vine lashes out and barely misses Devendell's head.

"What in the blue blazes...!" he exclaims.

The vine seems intent on ripping off his head.

Initiative rolls!

Male

"Well, these statues were hand carved by the late Mikhael Evenburger... I believe he owed my uncle a favor and this collection largely covered it. In any case they aren't exactly my favorite."

Perception DC 20:

You see a movement within a rose bush... and it's moving towards Mr. Devendell

Male

The rose garden is eerily silent. The cry of a raven pierces it for a half-second before being muffled.

"I feel this is but the start of out troubles..."

Walking past rows of desiccated rose hedges, guarded by stone statues of weeping children, you advance into the garden.

Ahead of you, a door leads inside.

Perception checks!

Male

Sorry for the delay, will update posts tomorrow night. Currently in a busy schedule.

Have a great Friday and Saturday!

Male

"Well, I was waiting on others to see if everyone was ready. So, who will lead the way? Form up men! And women... I doubt this garden is as tranquil as I remember."

Simply put where in the "adventuring line" you want to be. Front line, middle or rear guard for example.

Male

"Thank you, I'll see to it as soon as possible"

Male

"No... at least there wasn't when I used to live here. Let's just say most of the house will not be as I last saw it. It wouldn't surprise me if the rose garden was no longer quite as enjoyable as before."

Heading down the path that takes you around the house into the gardens, you notice a rather large raven perched on a wooden post.

"Oh don't mind him, that's just Sir. He's the house raven."

Ken looks back at you.

"He's stuffed."

The rusted gate ahead leads into the rose garden. Large vines grow all over, dwarfed by a towering hedge of leafy bushes, blocking much of the garden ahead from view.

Male

"I apologize, I forgot to mention it! The servant's entrance is just around on the eastern side. We'd have to cross through the old rose gardens though."

Male

"Well, so far it seems most of us feel more strongly to the servant's entrance. And yes, Miss Stensikker, I shall be accompanying you. I am not without my own protection."

Male

I will be away on a trip until Wednesday. I apologize for the interruption and we will get right back on track as soon as I return.

Male

"Sounds fair. I'd be very much interested. Let's just say the old family has never been quite the homely type of late."

I actually worked on the production side for the later releases for NWN, so always good to hear of someone enjoying it (you know, I presume if you finished it was somehow enjoyable)

I played through Hordes of the Underdark and loved every moment of it.

I think you're right Gerthi. It seems someone is home. Could it be family of yours perhaps, Mr Devendell?
Sense motive check on Mr Devendell's reply: 1d20 + 4

Devendell looks worried.

"No one should be home... In any case, there's a basement entrance and a side servant's entrance."

I live in Montreal Canada, been playing since I was 9 so that's 10 years now. I run multiple PbP Campaigns on the forum (currently 4) and also 3 or 4 IRL games throughout the year.

I played from D&D 3.5 and moved to Pathfinder.

I play World of Warcraft (don't judge) frequently, and love just exploring and going around getting my own ideas.

I've played and finished Neverwinter Nights :)

I used to live in Basel, Switzerland and Pennsylvania.

I currently am studying to be an Elementary School Teacher at university.

The Mansion, though mostly hidden within the clinging mists, rises to a stupendous height. By counting the windows, it seems that the mansion must at least possess eight floors and that's not including some parapets and towers you can barely make out within the mist.

The grounds around the castle are closed within a huge metal fence. Decorated with trees, tall grasses, dead flowers and more mist, the ambiance is far from cheerful.

Though not fortified, the windows seem to have metal grates on the inside.

Perception 15:
You see a faint plume of smoke rise from a western chimney.

If you roll a 15 or more in your next post on Perception you may read the spoiler.

I'll wait to hear everyone's decision

Lorasaadi:
For a brief second, it looked like a face was peering out at you from a third story window.

As for everyone else, which way do you wish to continue? Around the house or straight through the front door?

Male

The gate's lock breaks open, and the gate swings inward with a deafening creaking sound.

Moments later, silence.

The mansion's front doors can be seen ahead while a sprawling garden goes off to either side.

Sara Andruze wrote:

This gate sure does seem strong

Casts detect magic on the gate

The gate radiates no aura... but the mansion has an overwhelming aura of universal magic.

Male

The lock still holds fast.

A full attack action is not an automatic hit in battle.

Male

"If you'll be ready to leave then so am I. I will accompany you... though my services are less combat oriented, I do have knowledge of the mansion and of course, access to the numerous treasure vaults within. Here, as a token of my goodwill."

You all receive a potion of cure light wounds.

===

As you follow the mountain trail, you notice a thick, chilling fog has descended. After almost an hour march, you arrive at a large thick steel grate.

"And here lies the beginning of our troubles... I have yet to find a way to climb over the metal fence... nor unlock this gate."

If anyone has Disable Device they can attempt to pick the lock. Strong characters can attempt sunder checks on the lock. Characters can perhaps try using spells or alchemical items as well.

Let me know

We've unfortunately already started.

However, if a place opens up I'll let you know.

Male

"Well you certainly seem competent... unlike the others... I suggest you buy any supplies you still need before leaving though. When you're all ready just follow the small mountain trail up the mountain and in about an hour you'll reach my former home's front gate... that's where the troubles start."

Male

Don't worry. I don't rush players so we go by a 1~2 day schedule.

Familiars

All the rules for familiars are here. You essentially take its stats from the correct Bestiary and modify it accordingly. It serves more of a flavor purpose honestly.

Male

Alright, well a familiar is essentially a small animal you keep with you.

It can be used for a lot of things, from scouting ahead to delivering touch spells for you.

Male

Just waiting on Lorasaadi and then we're good to go.

Male

Feel free to post questions here and ooc discussion.

As well, as an introductory campaign, feel free to post things you'd like to see explained/explored. For example, say you're interested in seeing how certain combat options, spells, abilities, classes work etc let me know.

"Greetings adventurers, my name is Ken Devendell. You're all here in Crow's Hook because of my wanted poster I imagine? Very well then, I guess you do deserve some more explanations. What's that? How much are we getting paid? Well that depends on how far you make it my friend."

"A long time ago, I lived in a glorious mansion up in the mountains. No longer. A foul curse fell upon my home one day as I was abroad and upon returning found my home to be impenetrable and cursed with foul monsters. So in short, my plight and quest is the following:

I require the aid of adventurers such as yourself to delve deep into my ancestral home and see to finding the cause and full extent of this curse. While the mansion itself is quite immense, I reason that the job is sufficiently done if the first few floors are covered."

"You are free to take as much time as needed, Crow's Hook has plenty of supplies to sell."

"But first, I'd like to hear about yourself. Some of you don't seem to know each other very much yet either."

OdinsWrath25, I'll leave you until tomorrow at 12. If you can finish your character and have it up, then you're in.

As for everyone else, welcome to the campaign. As stated, we'll be doing a dungeon run to get people acquainted with the rules of Pathfinder, starting with the more simple things and culminating with some more complex situations.

If all goes well, we may very well end up continuing this campaign if everyone feels like it.

I'd like everyone to finalize their characters if they haven't done so, and I will update the first post at 00:00 my time (-5 GMT).

Glad to have you all on board!

Alright, we have a choice to make as we got some new additions.

I can either:

- Make a group of 4 players and once were done make a group with the others.

- Make a bigger group.

Let me know so we can start!

Also I left out the deity on my sheet because I'm not exactly aware of which setting is being used? Golarion? If so then Shelyn is his deity.

We're on Golarion.

So do we still need one more then?

Ken: do you want me to copy my mythweavers info over to the profile so it is like Lorasaadi's and Gerthi's?

Yes that'd be swell. Sorry for the late replies, been busy on the Homebrew side of the messageboards planning to write my first (and hopefully not last) published product.

Let me check through things real quick and I'll get back to all of you.

Perfect, that's 3 completed characters. One more to go.

So that's everyone then? We just need luspr then?

Actually Lorasaadi, could you update your character sheet to be like Gerthi's?

Actually, if Lanfearon pulls through we have our party!

So for now I'll stop this group's recruitment.

We have a Rogue, Fighter, Paladin and an undecided, which is fine by me!

Gerthi:
Yup, you get the bonus at 1st level too. And your character seems pristine, I haven't found any errors in it yet. Just need to crunch the skills, but I'm sure they're fine.

Mighty glad to see more interested! That's 3/4 for now, so waiting on our last leg of lamb... I mean player. Definitely player.

Alright, so that's 2 out of 4 candidates. Anyone else?

OK, I would like to submit Jacques Mitr for comments.

Myth weavers sheet

I've tried my best to stick to core only except for the archetype and have left HeroLab closed and done it using the Myth weavers template. It certainly does focus your attention of the character details that way!

Looked over and everything seems great! I'll do a complete crunchdown later but I think you're good to go.

Indeed. Traits will instead be "earned" in the dungeon itself.

The aim is to play through a fun dungeon while learning about all the possibilities of Pathfinder.

Bumping back up so that the people from the previous thread see it

As stated on a previous thread, I will be running a short, one-shot dungeon crawl to get new players used to Pathfinder.

I will accept ONLY 4 Players. When this module is finished, I will recruit a new team to run another module, and so on and so forth.

This module will take Player Characters from 1st to 2nd level and will run them through a multitude of events and encounters to teach them everything from combat to skill uses.

Again, this is to players who are new to Pathfinder or who haven't played long.

===

To Apply please submit an application below by following this template.

Name: Your character's name
Gaming Experience: Previous gaming (of the Pen and Paper genre)
Character Sheet: Your character sheet for your character.

Please abide by the following rules for character creation.

#1: Only material from the Core Rulebook, except for Archetypes. These can be from any other sourcebook. This will help us move much faster and simplify characters.

#2: This module is made to teach players how to play, please do not join/apply if you have a large experience playing.

#3: Character Creation will be done using the Point Buy System and using a 20 point buy.

#4: d20pfsrd is your new best friend.

#5: I would appreciate no HeroLab. Getting used to creating characters by hand is a good skill to learn.

Further Questions can be asked below or PMed to me.

I have 3 slots available for this 1st module, one has already been given to jonc from the other thread.

An abberation that feeds off the remaining time (as in years of life) of its victims.

I'm going off until later on tonight, and I prefer to wait on CaptMadJaq to define the groups.

Even if you were, I'm already taken unfortunately xD

- we'll go with 20 point buy for my group.

To work well, I think I'll take a max of 4 players.

That should give us the basics.

So, Dungeon Crawl chosen, I think I'm going to go with a fun idea I've had hanging around my head. Give you a nice fresh PbP start.

And indeed, me and CaptMadJaq can easily split up the group.

GarrinB, Jus me, luspr, ukuth0r, Choon and jonc

That's 2 teams of 3 characters which will run much faster than a team of 6+ and probably be easier on us GMs.

I am also not the OP but I had proposed to GM this game if no one else stepped up.

As for d20 gaming experience, I've got 10 years behind my belt and counting.

I also do LOVE dungeon crawls, as they are fun to create, play in and allow for a variety of player interaction and combat!

I do not mind at all having completely new players but this won't be Beginner Box as I prefer having more options.

If everyone's ok with me GMing I have the following questions for everyone:

- What Point Buy do we want to use? (I'm fine with even up to 25)
- What books do you have access to? (That shouldn't be a problem as we have This Here Link to help us out.
- How many players want in? I don't mind having a large group but that will most certainly slow down gameplay.

As for those who have never tried Pathfinder before, have you played D&D 3/3.5 at least?

If not, I suggest reading over the following sections on the d20pfsrd (link above): Common Terms, Getting Started, Ability Scores, Character Creation Outline, your chosen Race, your chosen Class and everything in the Combat section. Having the Core Rulebook would probably help a lot.

Oh and I'll allow HeroLab as its easier to start with.

Let me know your answers!
