Red flag Kayleigh! Sounds like every anniversary with Nebbin will be a paper anniversary.

You just had to post that, didn't you? And to think I was congratulating myself for resisting posting the following:

Psst! Nebbin! Give Kayleigh the silver tooth! Chicks dig silver teeth!

"I can do a healing channel and try to remove any disease you may have contacted from the bites," Kayleigh tells Emi and Nebbin. "But let's wait until we've fully disarmed Girrigz's soldiers before I use a channel...and made a decision on what we're going to do about the otyugh."

Got my covid-19 booster this afternoon, a couple weeks later than I'd hoped. Omicron peaked in my area a week or two back, but...better late than never! Also, who knows what variant is next.

This PSA brought to you by your friendly neighborhood merciful healer.

I've been PMing back-and-forth with Emi's player, and while we doubt anyone can totally fill Luke's shoes, we agree that the PCs in the game are pretty special as well.

We've discussed trying to find another GM to continue the story, and I'm weighing taking on the GMing reins myself (with Kayleigh as more of a background GMPC).

What do folks think about either of these two possibilities?

Two days short of the 5-year anniversary of the first Gameplay Thread post....

I'm crushed.

Thanks for all the time and effort you put into the game, Luke. Best wishes for you going forward.

Kayleigh waits, barely breathing, knowing that she's the least stealthy/most clanky member of the party. She expects to be the party's rearguard as a result.

When the others draw near, Kayleigh lets out a soft sigh of relief before whispering a report about the strong illusion magic she detected coming from the room at the top of the spiral staircase.

"Can you make one or more of us invisible?" the priestess asks Tassira, knowing that the group will be particularly vulnerable climbing the staircase and then facing whatever awaits one-by-one.

As Kayleigh and Nebbin climb the spider-slimed stairs, the cleric whispers, "What if the second floor is partitioned off and the others can't get to us or us to them?" As if in answer to her own question, she silently draws her wand of spiritual weapon.

With detect magic running (mainly to scan for invisible foes), Kayleigh creeps after Nebbin. Outside the door when he makes his gestures at her, Kayleigh smiles and waggles her already-drawn wand...somehow managing to bang it off her buckler! Grin turns to grimace at the noise.

Kayleigh breaks her brief silence, addressing the last captive. "Why would you listen to such a voice in the first place?" she wonders aloud. "Lord Nyhbur--does he command magic? A mage or some sort of priest?"

After hearing the man's reply (if, indeed, one is forthcoming), the cleric turns to the others. "I guess we need to head upstairs next," she says quietly. "The big question is whether or not be do so in one group or split up to come at whatever's up there from two directions. If Nyhbur's got magic, attacking en masse might give him the advantage--think of that life-draining cloud we just survived. Splitting the party, of course, comes with its own risks. Whatever we decide, I think Tassira and I ought to have detect magic spells running when we head upstairs, just in case our foes are again invisible and lying in wait."

I've spent some time this weekend going through the Gameplay Thread and compiling a treasure list and refreshing my memory a bit. Here's what I got:

-------------
-------------
Luke’s Curse of the Crimson Throne Loot List (9/1/20 through present)
Post# Treasure
4900 Sea hag has a magic shortspear and wand; fly pendants on her and lacedon (couldn't find any IDing for either item).
4941 Chest contains ruined holy text of Urgathoa, cloak of protection +2, sack of coins.
5543 3 potions of cure light wounds and a “handful of coins.”
We also have the +2 dagger that Kayleigh held on to for underwater fighting.

Some things that had slipped my mind:
#1--Ishan has lost his spellcasting ability by going against Abadar's tenets;
#2--Trinia is being hidden at the clinic.

Surprising Thing I Discovered:
#1--Kayleigh still has Strength damage from 11 months ago (from the encounter with the sea hag)! Granted, we've only advanced the game 2-3 days in that time, but between all-nighters where she didn't heal ability damage to rolling a 2 on the one lesser restoration spell she cast on herself, Kayleigh's still down 1 Str point from the 4 she initially lost. (I'll also admit that the underwater fight doesn't seem like it happened 11 months ago; this stupid pandemic thing is wreaking havoc on the passage of time for me).

Kayleigh reports back to the others about the stairs leading up and down; she also makes a mental note to scavenge the chickens and veggies, either for the priests and Lambs at the Temple of Aroden, for a meal at the clinic, or maybe as another gift for Majenko and sons (just the chickens). She know better than to even try to peek into the cellar--there are always spiders in a cellar.

Did the two "????" CLW spells go to Emi or Nebbin? If it's still undecided I think Nebbin should take them.

I left the recipients blank partly because I wasn't sure if Firinne's running hp total had been updated regularly during their sickness and is currently correct.

If she's only down 6 hp, I figured one of the CLWs would go to Emi and the second to Nebbin...until the lovable lug got all chivalrous and insisted that both heals go to Emi. If Firinne's down double-digits, Kayleigh would probably cast one on her (to support the new team member, especially after she killed both the cult leader and the spider-thing!).

Kayleigh casts another detect magic spell and checks the library for signatures, either magic items or possibly a ping from invisible foes still lurking inside the manor. Assuming she detects nothing, the priestess grabs two copies of Whispers of the Dreamer off the tabletop, returns to the main hall where the captives are being bound and watched, and then again casts detect magic before poking her head through the eastern door to see what there is to see there.

Maybe we can bind the prisoners' ankles with a bit of slack in between; just enough so they can waddle slowly and climb the stairs but not enough that they'll be able to move quickly enough to escape.

Kayleigh notices Nebbin wince from the pain of his untreated wounds, and it sets her off on a guilt trip.

If you hadn't used three of your daily channels to remove the blood veil from folks at the clinic, you'd be able to heal everyone's wounds properly....

Still, it was a choice between probable death for the strangers she'd treated and (hopefully) just a temporary discomfort for dear Nebbin and the rest of her friends.

Just then, a thought strikes her. She turns and casts detect magic before scanning all the fallen cultists. Sometimes, folks who could afford it carried a healing potion with them in case of emergency....

I've been assuming from the start of the campaign that most of the healing potions or scrolls have gone to Regeris (possibly to be distributed further from there). Now that he's gone, he may have taken those items with him. According to THIS POST (which is over a year old), Tassira may have a potion of cure serious wounds in her possession, unless she's used it already. This is the first instance I can recall where Kayleigh hasn't been able to stay on top of the amount of damage we've been dealt, so maybe Tassira still has it. A possibility going forward is to spend Regeris's share from the sale of the +2 dagger Kayleigh's still carrying around (see the post after the one linked above) toward the purchase of a wand of cure light wounds in case something similar happens in the future.

Female Human Cleric of Milani (Merciful Healer) 7 | hp -59- 59/59 (0 NL) | AC 21, t 13, ff 19 | Fort +8, Ref +7, Will +9 | Init +4 | Perc +3 | Spd 20 ft. | Channel Positive Energy 5/7 | Restorative Touch 6/6 | Harrow Points: 1/4 | wand of SW 43/48 | Conditions: none

Kayleigh's initially a bit put off by the lighthearted banter being tossed between her friends; then she realizes they're letting off some tension from the life-and-death battle they'd all just survived. More to the point, it seems they've either forgotten or don't blame her for leading them all into the trap in the first place. Her momentary pique at her friends is quickly replaced by feelings of love and admiration.

Still, Madame Carington's life may yet hang in the balance....

Although it's a known fact that at least one surviving cultist fled upstairs, Kayleigh has deep reservations about leaving the lower floor of the manor unexplored; there's a possibility they'd be leaving enemies behind them as well as ahead. Motioning for Nebbin to follow, Kayleigh moves to the curtain on the left, pushes it aside, and peers at what lies beyond.

Letting the cultists go seems like a bad idea to me. Anyone got some rope?

Female Human Cleric of Milani (Merciful Healer) 7 | hp -59- 59/59 (0 NL) | AC 21, t 13, ff 19 | Fort +8, Ref +7, Will +9 | Init +4 | Perc +3 | Spd 20 ft. | Channel Positive Energy 5/7 | Restorative Touch 6/6 | Harrow Points: 1/4 | wand of SW 43/48 | Conditions: none

Kayleigh helps Emileva to her feet, taking care to swat away as many lingering spiders from the dispersing swarm as she can. Realizing that she's shaking from the adrenaline rush from the nearly fatal battle, the cleric draws her friend into a fierce hug as she tries to regain control over her own frayed nerves while providing what comfort she can after Emi's near-death experience.

Next she moves to Nebbin, finally able to use her restorative touch to eliminate his post-rage fatigue. The priestess gives her protector a simple smile, letting the big guy know she loves and appreciates him.

Giving the quivering remains of the spidery abomination a wide berth, the priestess moves across the great hallway. Making eye contact with Fírinne, she can't help but flash a wide smile at the grinning tiefling. "Good things truly do come in small packages!" she tells the group's newest associate. At the same time, Kayleigh deeply misses Regeris. Would he have allowed me to lead the others so blindly into this ambush? she can't help but think. That's followed by another uncomfortable thought: Had the inquisitor been with the group instead of the little firecracker, Fírinne, would he have been able to deliver the killing blows to the lead cultist and spider-monster like the tiny tiefling had done? Unlikely--instead, it seemed probable they all would have died, led to their demise by Kayleigh and her inexplicable (and dead wrong) near-certaint belief that this place would hold an ally capable of saving Madame Carington. How could I have been so horribly wrong?

The sight of Tassira battered, bloodied, and bruised breaks Kayleigh's heart. She rushes forward and embraces the mage. "I'm so sorry--I couldn't get to you...then I lost track when you turned invisible, and...."

As her eyes begin to leak tears, the flustered priestess steps back and casts a serious healing spell upon the mage. She follows up with a couple of cure light wounds spells on those who need them most, reserving only one spell from her daily repertoire that can be converted to healing (just in case there's another emergency before the group can leave this hellish place).

Though she doubts her friends will follow her lead ever again after having led them into this trap, Kayleigh decides to push them one more time. "Let's see what else is here while our spells are still in effect," she tells the others after wiping a few stray tears from her cheeks. "Maybe killing that...thing will release Madame Carington from her affliction, but maybe not. We need to get back to her quickly."

The sight of a few cultists escaping weaves new webs of fear around the Milanite's heart; she hates to think that all that's between them and finishing off Carington is a locked door and poor, distraught Felix....

Kayleigh cure serious wounds (Tassira): 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (2, 8, 7) + 6 = 23 x 1.5 (Healer's Blessing) = 34 hps healed.

Kayleigh cure light wounds (???): 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 x 1.5 (Healer's Blessing) = 10 hps healed.

Kayleigh cure light wounds (???): 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7 x 1.5 (Healer's Blessing) = 10 hps healed.

Swapping out dispel magic, bless, and hide from undead for cure spells. I'm pretty sure Kayleigh already used her domain cure light wounds spell on someone during the fight and I forgot to mark it off on her sheet as cast. If my record-keeping is correct, she's down to remove disease (a domain spell that she can't swap out for healing) and shield of faith (which she'll hold on to for now in case there's another surprise or two in the mansion).

Let's do a quick sweep of the rest of the manor while good hope and our other buffs are still active.

Kayleigh gasps as Emi is dropped and then immediately blanketed by the monster's accompanying spider swarm.

Where is Majenko when we need him most? comes a random thought through her panic and terror.

Knowing that she's going to get chewed on by the smaller spiders--and possibly worse by the huge monster--Kayleigh nonetheless steps carefully to Emi's fallen form. Taking a defensive stance, the priestess raises her morningstar, but not to attack. She holds it above and in front of her, as a defensive barrier against any incoming attacks from the great arachnid. Dropping into a defensive crouch, the cleric reaches through the scuttling spiders with her buckler hand to touch Emi and deliver some healing. She silently beseeches Milani to make it another big one....

5-foot step and trade out dispel magic for cure serious wounds; no AoO thanks to Kayleigh's Combat Medic ability.

Kayleigh cure serious wounds (Emileva): 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (7, 3, 6) + 6 = 22 x 1.5 (Healer's Blessing) = 33 hps healed.

Kayleigh cautiously steps back toward Nebbin. "Have hope! Milani is with us in this fight!" The cleric clenches the fingers of her buckler hand into a fist and raises it defiantly against the spider monster and cultists alike.

5-foot step to {H8, V5} and then casting good hope on the party. I think Tassira misses out, being more than 30 feet from Nebbin. Good hope effects: Each affected creature gains a +2 morale bonus on saving throws, attack rolls, ability checks, skill checks, and weapon damage rolls.

@Luke: I lucked out and Henri jogged farther west than originally forecast, so the impact in my area was minimal. Got a little more wind and rain yesterday when the weakened system turned around and passed through most of MA on its way back out to sea (and from there, toward Dragoncat, I believe).

Kayleigh finds herself unable to get to Nebbin without putting herself at great personal risk from the spider-thing. She fights off the insidious urge to just curl up and accept defeat and instead takes a cautious step behind Emi ({H6, V9}), protecting the warrior woman's flank while taking a couple of mean swings at the nearest cultist's ribcage.

Ick. Kayleigh's got one remove disease spell prepared, so she'll use it on you. Hope it works!

More seriously, I hope the latest test comes back negative. I had a relatively mild case back in March. I never got any real breathing/congestion issues beyond a cough, so I lucked out. It's usually around days 5-7 where you have to be on the lookout for things taking a turn for the worse. Good luck!

Kayleigh positions herself in the midst of her friends and uses her last positive energy channel. Then she looks to Nebbin to see if he's crashing after having expended so much energy defending her and the others from the cultists.

"I'll cast a shield of faith spell on you first chance I get!" the priestess promises, but her eyes keep darting to the top of the stairs.

Kayleigh Fairwind channel positive energy #7 of 7: 3d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4) = 7

And that makes three straight below-average channels. The good news is that Kayleigh's out of channels, so that streak ends here. Wait--that's not really good news at all, is it?

Kayleigh gives a resolute nod at Emileva's words. "Plus, we have to find out if something here is causing Madame Carington's condition."

Kayleigh asks Nebbin and Emi to coup de grace the ettercap and spider monster to make sure they don't get up again; then she repositions herself toward the center of the hall, excludes the two least bloody cultists, and channels positive energy to heal her friends.

Kayleigh Fairwind channel positive energy #6 of 7: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 6) = 10

Remove disease effect on Nebbin and Fírinne (I think Tassira's somehow immune to blood veil at this point--Knock on wood!).

Kayleigh wants to tend to the wounded, but Nebbin's observation changes those plans. Feeling the effects of Tassira's awesome spell still with her, the usually slow cleric uses the magically-induced speed to circle around the remaining cultist before sliding into flanking position opposite her boyfriend to deliver another swing of her morningstar. She absently wonders where Tassira disappeared to (but will find out momentarily!).

Ha! 'Snailleigh' no more! she thinks as she scoots into position, recalling the nickname she was given during her short childhood stay amongst Lamm's Lambs. Alas, she's still a pretty poor combatant and her swing leaves a lot to be desired.

Kayleigh Fairwind masterwork silver morningstar (haste, flanking, sickened): 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 12 for bludgeoning, piercing, silver damage (sickened): 1d8 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (4) + 1 - 2 = 3

Yup, looks like that movement works: 2 squares up, 3 left, 1 down diagonally left, down 1 diagonally right, ending in {H8, V5}, avoiding any AoO.

Nebbin's turn for healing....

Converting a prepared daylight spell, Kayleigh swiftly casts a cure serious wounds spell on Nebbin. (Combat Medic ability = no AoO.)

cure serious wounds (Nebbin): 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4, 5) + 6 = 17 x 1.5 = 25 hps healed with Healer's Blessing.

If Emi's made mincemeat out of the spider-thing, Kayleigh will also recover her dropped wand (move action).

Kayleigh's top priority is to get to Nebbin and keep him in the fight. Although she's still feeling sick from the leader's spell, she raises her morningstar in Milani's name and starts swinging it.

Her plan is to strike once at Cultist #7 (even if dropped prone/dying by Nebbin) to make sure they're out of the fight (hopefully) in case another channel is necessary. If the first strike seems likely to have accomplished that, her second will be against the big spider thing.

Kayleigh Fairwind masterwork silver morningstar regular attack (sickened, flanking, haste): 1d20 + 6 - 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 6 - 2 + 2 + 1 = 16 for bludgeoning, piercing, silver damage: 1d8 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 1 - 2 = 6

Kayleigh Fairwind masterwork silver morningstar bonus haste attack (sickened, flanking, haste): 1d20 + 6 - 2 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 6 - 2 + 2 + 1 = 22 for bludgeoning, piercing, silver damage: 1d8 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 1 - 2 = 6

EDIT: Assuming #7's down, Kayleigh will take a 5-foot step into that square {V5, H11}.

Kayleigh seems surprised ay Nebbin's words...until she sees how much danger the wizard's in. Then she gives Nebbin a vigorous couple of nods and prepares to face the spider thing next.

Kayleigh follows in Emi's wake, before dropping her wand on the floor and casting her most potent healing spell on her warrior friend. (Combat Medic ability = no AoO.) "Go get 'em!" the priestess says as she feels an unusually large amount of her goddess's power flow through the spell.

cure serious wounds (Emileva): 3d8 + 6 ⇒ (7, 7, 6) + 6 = 26 (Healer's Blessing bumps that up to 39; now THAT'S what I'm talking about!)

The link in Kayleigh's Harrow Points tracker in her quickie stats links to Luke's post that describes their uses. Did you catch both of Kayleigh's channels?

Kayleigh grits her teeth and fights off the worst of the latest spell attack. Though having Nebbin at her side is a comfort, the approach of the giant spider-thing and its vicious bite of her boyfriend causes her to flinch in fear. Out of the corner of her eye she notes that her healing channel brought around the cultist who had fallen next to the cabinet.

@Luke: I'm hoping the symptoms stay mild and that you and your family are back to normal shortly. Even mild covid cases are no fun.

I'm like Nebbin--still wearing my mask whenever I head out. I actually bought a bunch of extra/replacement masks a couple months back: Lots of places had them on clearance discount. I'm not yet convinced covid's in our rearview mirror.

Kayleigh directs her remaining spiritual weapon against a cultist (#7 is my 1st choice if still standing, #3 my 2nd). Then she again channels positive energy, wishing her friends had actually answered her question.

Well, it's the first time I've ever used this power, so maybe they forgot I had it. Or maybe I forgot to tell them about it in the first place....

Kayleigh again channels positive energy. She warns Emi to beware the first cultist she dropped (#1), as the priestess is hoping her healing won't bring her back around. The cleric also adds one of Milani's mercies to the channel, removing the sickened condition the cult leader may have inflicted upon Emi and Nebbin.

Kayleigh swings her morningstar at the cultist trying to cast a spell next to her; though she connects, it is--as usual, it seems--a weak strike. Then the cult leader's spell hits and it drives much of the remaining fight out of the Milanite. She wants to lay down and die but her goddess won't let her. Sweating slightly, eyes not fully focused, and looking a bit ill, the priestess still manages to gasp, "Who else...feels sick?"

Kayleigh Fairwind masterwork silver morningstar (AoO; haste): 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 = 24 for bludgeoning, piercing, silver damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Kayleigh Fairwind Will Save: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

@Luke: Wouldn't #3 also provoke from Nebbin if he cast a spell?

Majority of actions coming in a later post, once she sees how the saving throws go.

Kayleigh gets nervous as Emi gets slashed by a number of sickle attacks. If Emi falls, she likely will, too.

"We need to keep them on one side of us!" she tells Emi, probably needlessly. She channels positive energy, excluding the fallen cultist and the one Emi just hacked. Then she repositions her first spiritual weapon to swing at the cultist behind Emi (#7), leaving one floating nearby just in case her invisible foe should reappear.

Kayleigh Fairwind channel positive energy #4 of 7: 3d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 3) = 8

FWIW, Kayleigh will designate herself and Emi to have any disease removed with the channel, in case they've secretly contracted the blood veil.

Kayleigh yelps as an invisible foe appears suddenly after a failed attack on her. Then she uses her wand to bring forth a second morningstar, mentally directing it to attack the same cultist the first one is swinging at.

"Don't listen to him!" she yells to the girl with the knife.

spiritual weapon (morningstar) #2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 for force damage: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

NOTE: I've retained Kayleigh's move action for the round, just in case Fírinne proves to be a killing machine like Emi and Nebbin and eliminates Kayleigh's target before her turn comes around; she'll then redirect her first spiritual weapon to one of the unarmored cultists and have the second casting target that same guy as well.

EDIT: Let me add a 5-foot step to {V5, H11} to avoid potential flanking. Fírinne will have gotten her flanking bonus by the time Kayleigh's up.

"Good timing!" Kayleigh cries out to Nebbin...and Fírinne. Then she points her wand at the cultist he just hacked (assuming he's still up), says a magic word, and brings a magical morningstar of force to bear on the cultist, expending the bonus from guidance on the attack.

"Ow!" Kayleigh exclaims as a fist connects to her shoulder, following through to clip her jaw. "Oof!" she grunts as a second powerful punch catches her in the ribs. On one level, she knows she shouldn't show any weakness before enemies; on another, she realizes that every cry of pain these men draw from her will make Nebbin's imminent wrath all the greater. There's no manipulation in the priestess's yelps and groans, however--these guys hit hard! Their fists seem to strike with as much force as she can muster with a blow from her morningstar!

Post with actions coming later, probably after Emi has posted.

Re: Guidance: Yeah, the spell affects one roll only. Kayleigh will probably use hers on the spiritual weapon attack that's likely coming.

Kayleigh's Actions Thus Far: I think I'm good at present: Kayleigh used her free buckler hand to draw the wand. She should be able to use either in combat, but she'll have to free up a hand to cast any spells.

"Can I Do This?" Ruling Needed: If Kayleigh has to channel positive energy, she needs to present her holy symbol (which she wears on a chain around her neck). Can she use one finger from her hand that's holding the wand (or even use the wand itself) to move it forward? If so, would she still get the buckler's armor bonus to AC for that round? (See spoiler below.)

Some Rules Regarding Buckler Use:

from the buckler's description, CRB/150
You can cast a spell with somatic components using your shield arm, but you lose the buckler’s AC bonus until your next turn.

from the Wands Activation description, CRB/496
Wands use the spell trigger activation method, so casting a spell from a wand is usually a standard action that doesn’t provoke attacks of opportunity. (If the spell being cast has a longer casting time than 1 action, however, it takes that long to cast the spell from a wand; spiritual weapon does not.) To activate a wand, a character must hold it in hand (or whatever passes for a hand, for nonhumanoid creatures) and point it in the general direction of the target or area. A wand may be used while grappling or while swallowed whole.

from the Spell Trigger description, CRB/458
Spell trigger activation is similar to spell completion, but it’s even simpler. No gestures or spell finishing is needed, just a special knowledge of spellcasting that an appropriate character would know, and a single word that must be spoken. Spell trigger items can be used by anyone whose class can cast the corresponding spell. This is the case even for a character who can’t actually cast spells, such as a 3rd-level paladin. The user must still determine what spell is stored in the item before she can activate it. Activating a spell trigger item is a standard action and does not provoke attacks of opportunity.

My Conclusions/Opinions: A wand's not a weapon, and it doesn't require a somatic component (just point it and say a word), so I'd think a buckler would still provide its armor bonus while a wand is wielded in the buckler arm's hand. I admit, I never knew a caster was supposed to lose the AC bonus when casting a spell with a somatic component: I always just assumed "you need a free hand to cast spells; that's why clerics and bards have to use bucklers (and not use large shields unless they're very good at juggling or don't bother with weapon attacks").

Let me know if you agree. It's gonna be a pain looking up each spell cast to see if it's got a somatic component (I assume most spells do; guess I'll learn which ones don't as I go).

"Gotcha!" the priestess replies to Emi. She'd intended to add: "...right after I protect you a bit!" and cast shield of faith on the warrior. With three foes bearing down on her, though, Kayleigh decides to follow Emi's instructions to the letter.

Maybe it's OK to be a little selfish this one time....

Once the spell's cast, she draws her wand of spiritual weapon, figuring she and Emi could use another morningstar or three in the fight.

5-foot-step to the square Emi just left, cast shield of faith +3 on herself (standard), draw wand (move action).
