Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

There is no harm is speaking to them again perhaps, although how different their answer will be I don't know. Seeing as they are basically just outside, I don't think it would hurt to have a word with them again.

Kayle will stand up and head out of the door, heading towards the guard stations.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Speaking to the guards might not be a bad idea, although as I have stated before, they were dismissive earlier when I spoke to them, and I do not know how much will have changed in a short amount of time.

Taking the horn from Ezreal, Kayle will examine it for any marks and the like, a detailed look into the material that the horn is made out of.

Muttering under his breath a small cantrip to detect whether there is magic held within the device, he concentrates for about 20 seconds before putting it into his pack and standing.

Casting detect magic and concentrating on the horn

Shyvana, would you like to lead the way?

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Waiting here too.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

I would tend to agree with Ezreal on this one occasion. My apologies sir. It would appear we were in error. Would you like to press charges against the barmaid? Also, would you like to have a hand getting your stuff back upstairs? Kayle looks rather embarrassed.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

I never mentioned a bag. I think madam you have some explaining to do. We want the full story. Now. I am bound to follow the law, and if the law has been broken, then I have a duty to set it to rights. Do not make it harder than it has to be. Please Kayle looks stern. He is not a fan of liars, and so he hopes the woman will come clean.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

I will speak to the barmaid and find out what is going on under that till. In the meantime, enjoy your keg good sir. By the way, might it be possible to ask for your name?

Kayle will head over to the barmaid and ask for a moment of her time.

Ma'am, the gentleman we are dealing with has declared that you have something of his under the till. Might I ask what it is? I believe that it would help resolve the issue quickly.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

I apologise Sir. You argue as well as some of my tutors within the Priesthood of Iomedae. I was rash in judgement. If I might be so bold as to ask, what would you expect the answer to be with regards to what is under the till. It would help me determine who is in the right or wrong. He looks chastened but still determined.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Thank you ma'am he says quietly to the barmaid. When he notices her rolling her eyes, he recognizes that he might have irritated her a little. Perhaps a more active approach to the problem might have been better rather than stalling for time. When the evil or the task is in front of you, do not shy away from it. Instead meet it with your whole heart and tackle it direct He had been lazy, and that was a path into evil potentially. He would have to pray for the Goddesses pardon tonight.

Going back to the man, he laughs for a moment about the bag. Ezreal, are you all right there my friend? Do you require assistance?
If the answer is yes, then he will assist him to stand and sort the bags out.

Sir, you will have to move on from this place after your drink. The teachings of Iomedae state that one should never outwear their welcome, and if they are using cruel and crass tactics such as intimidating women in order to stay in one place such as a tavern, then they must be taught the error of their ways, and moved along. I am not a cruel man, hence why I am getting you this one last drink. But be aware that the moment you finish it, I will expect you to leave and not return here. If I hear that you have returned, then there will be consequences. If you refuse to leave, there will be consequences. If however, you leave without issue, and do not return to this place, then I will consider the matter closed, and we can both go upon our merry ways without further issues.

Do you understand me?

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Kayle speaks quietly to the barmaid. The offer of booze was the only way that the man would not be belligerent and I could get him out of the room and not have him destroy someone or something. I will buy the man the keg that I have promised him, and then see what I can do to move him out of the tavern altogether with his belongings. If needed, then I will use force. The man is a coward and a bully, and I know roughly how to deal with such men. I do not like the path of violence, but will not shy away from it if needs be. I gave you my word, and I intend to keep it.

To Ezreal:
Pack the belongings as best you can. Does not need to be particularly neat. Bring the bags downstairs.

Turning back to the man, he prepares for the task ahead.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Kayle laughs heartily. Sir, I have a feeling that if you wanted to kill me, then you would be able to do so before I could so much as draw my sword. Why would I cause a fight where one is not needed? I promised you a keg, so please, let me buy you that much whilst we work out your arrangements eh? The man troubled him, and he wasn't used to acting in such a manner, he was trying to get the man out with the minimum of fuss.

Heading downstairs, he mouths to Ezreal tp Grab the bags as best you can, meet me in the bar before heading down. Gold coins jingling slightly in his belt pouches.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Well then if you won't come quietly, then fair enough. I guess in that case I have no option but to buy you a drink downstairs. I don't have a quarrel with you, and don't really want to get the town guard involved. Like I say, the bar staff here asked me to give you a hand with your bags, and so I came up to do exactly that. I am nothing more than a porter really. What do you say buddy? Fancy a keg on me? Trying to sound reasonable and placate the guy. Kayle will not really want to be trying to start a fight here.

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

That would be I. The tavern would like you to settle your bill and leave this place, taking yourself and your equipment with it. Apparently you have been intimidating their staff and they no longer wish to serve you. I have been asked to come along and help in this process. If you would be so kind of point out your bags, I will help you take them downstairs and then we can settle your bill. Kayle does everything he can to come across as reasonable and diplomatic in the situation, no weapons drawn and with a smile upon his face.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

GM:
But of course. Would you please show me to the room. I am sure I can make this man see sense. Kayle will stand and for a moment contemplate taking the greatsword off his back. No sense in drawing a weapon I don't intend to use. Looks silly. Lets use our words eh Kayle? The voices of his tutors ring through his head for a moment and thus he puts the sword out of his mind for the moment. Lead the way he states simply.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

GM:

Kayle will smile. She seems interesting, now not to mess this up

We are looking for information about a friend of ours who has gone missing basically. We would like to find her and the people associated with her disappearance. I can happily pay for any information that you might have, or any rumours. Pay richly. Kayle will reach into a leather pouch as his side, and withdraw 20 thick gold coins before placing them in 4 columns before the barmaid.

Of course, there will be more if the information that you give me turns out to be correct and helps me find what I am looking for. Much more. I am sure that a beautiful woman such as yourself would hear much from the clientèle from such a place as this that might help. Those to imbibe liquor tend to have loose tongues after all.

Diplomacy check if needed 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Wine, and as ever, information. Gossip, hearsay and rumour. What has been happening in the area, and where would the best people to avoid be? Kayle grins, he was trying to lighten up a little.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

It does two things. Loosens tongues, and passes the time. In the training academies we were taught about the dangers of drink and therefore drink in moderation if the substance is alcoholic. On the other hand, this armour is pretty warm, even on the coolest of days, hence drinking often to make sure I am useful. Kayle smiles, those training days felt like they were a million years ago already.

A tavern sounds good, at the very least we can sit down and talk.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

That's fine. We can wait. Would it be possible to ask for a jug of water or wine whilst we wait? It's pretty warm in this armour after all eh. Kayle gives the impression that he is more than willing to wait, simply because he is actually willing to wait. If the woman was already dead then there was no rush, and without knowing where she was, there was no rush as such beyond what they forced themselves into.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Kayle smiles as the smaller man chatters away. It was nice to have someone commence in the small talk from time to time. It had happened so rarely in the years of training that his own skills with it were almost minimal.

Aware that his armour was more than likely to attract attention, he was glad that they hadn't gone to the fortune tellers. He would not have helped anyone in a place where the inhabitants tended to prey upon the weakest and gullible of society, when subtlety appeared to be the name of the game. At least with other people who were armed and armoured he stood a chance of blending in.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Whoops, edited

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

I mentioned about speaking to the guards, and thus that is where Kayle will be headed. If you catch up then you can make the case for going to the Fortune Teller first if you really want to

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Hearing Ezreal's comment about rotten eggs, Kayle speeds up to try and race him out of the building. Just because he had the armour on, it was no reason not to test the limits of them both. It was fun to have a little competition occasionally. Made life worth living and kept you sharp.

A wager then, first out of the building gains a gold coin from the rotten egg! he roars.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

But surely a Paladin's job is to be led and lead people into battle against the evil around us?

"I do not know more off him but there are rumors of Nidalese slavers prowling the streets of late, and if these are true, being abducted by a slaver in the middle of the night would certainly explain Natalya's absence. She might even have been picked up by the city guard for some reason, in which case a visit to the Arvensoar, the garrison for the city's watch, might yield some clues. Beyond this, I can offer nothing but wishes for luck."

That still gives us a great deal more than what we had a moment ago. Thank you kindly. May Iomedae watch over you and keep you safe

Turning back to the others, Kayle looks grim. It appears we have a hunt to go upon. Multiple trails, but none or all might lead to the prey we seek. Let us speak to the Guard first of all, and then meet with any seedier individuals who might have knowledge of her.

He strides out steadily at this point, hoping that the others will follow, but not sure whether they will or not.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

If you need me to speak upon the behalf of the party then I will, but have no doubt, I am not a dumb brute that can be bent every which way. I will speak the truth, regardless of what it costs me, or I will not speak at all

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

To Ezreal: Thank you for the water, it is most appreciated.

Towards Shyvana: I never stated he was your leader, but rather your mouthpiece. The messenger that speaks the words of its master does not necessarily know what it speaks or why, but none the less speaks where it's master might not. No offence meant Ezreal

To Riera:It is apparent that you are hiding something from us. If that is the case then fair enough, but it might lead to further losses. We might be unknown elements to you, but if we are to be of any use to you, then it would make sense for you to not hold anything back, else it is our lives that are on the line. And I don't know about anyone else here, but I am rather attached to my life.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Even in the darkest of moments, where the shadows seem impenetrable, there is always hope. It responsibility is yours to find it. Kayle speaks with a quiet calm, but there should be no doubt that he believes in what he says.

Turning to the others in the room, he smiles once more.

Good day to you. Are you well? Ezreal seems to be your mouthpiece as I have not heard a peep from either of you in the short time that I have been here. Is there anything I can do for either of you?

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Yeah Ezreal is a really really slippery champ. A pain to lane against like you wouldn't believe.

But yes, easy to mock, and he deserves all the mocking.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

A most mortal injury that must be for your pride to take, is there no bandage that might soothe your pain? Kayle grins, he means it in jest, and hopes that it comes across that way.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Saluting back without a moments pause, Kayle looks 60 pounds? Nay, more like 40 with the sword. It keeps me safe though and allows me to follow Her strictures. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Ezreal. I promise you, I am relaxed, although water would be most useful. It has been a warm day of travel.

You did not however answer my question. Do any of you need healing? I might be able to heal the worst of it.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

I never thought of the name as particularly gender specific. Yes her voice in the game is pretty female, but there is no reason for that to be the case in this world as it stands right now.

Basically I am taking the name and the character concept and just changing it so that it is a male character rather than a female. Particularly as I can't write as a female character to save my life.

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Sorry to disappoint, but Jarvan never much appealed to me when I played the game. Kayle on the other hand.....

Male Aasimaar Paladin/Cleric 1 (Gestalt)

Good day to you all. My apologies for being late. The situation on the road was long, and my mule is old. It appears that your first combat went well, although it appears that there was collateral damage. Do any of you require healing?

I have been discourteous, I should have opened with my name. I am Kayle Versade, Devoted to the Goddess Iomedae. May her strength infuse us all

The man is a giant. Over 6 feet tall, and nearly the same wide, the metal of the armour seems to never end. Where the armour does not cover, he wears thick leather armour that bears the scoring of blades upon it, but looks well worn and loved. However it is the sword that he wears across his back that stands out most. It is an old blade, nearly as long as the man is tall. Scored and battered, but still giving the impression of strength and immense weight.

He stands there surveying the room and its damage as well as the bodies of the little slain beasts.

What is the plan from here? I understand we are to wait for further instructions?
