reposting initiative 1d20+6=13

Once Kauul arrives on deck he charges the nearest opponent with his falchion.

Charge Attack 1d20+7=8 natural 1, action?

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

Life can pile it on at times and I'm certain we all understand. Take your time to get things worked out. I know I'll be ready when you are.

Knowledge:Arcana to see if Kauul can figure out the navigational maps - 1d20+8=16

Kauul can understand the star charts, but without Profession Navigator that's about as much as he can do.

Jace starts showing Kauul each of the charts and what they all mean, patiently explaining how to read them. And only rolling his eyes a little when it takes two or three tries.

Well, I know where I'll be putting some of my skill point when we level up, assuming Kauul lives to reach 4th. lol

Jace looks anything but combat ready, but you can't be certain if that is really the case. He does have a lot of pouches on his person and a bag with what appears to be a book inside. You're guessing he's a wizard.

Jace looks a bit dismayed when you first begin talking, but brightens up when you switch to signs.

Spoiler:

Ah, well, that's certainly nothing to be ashamed of. I apologize if I gave offense. I wasn't sure if the Captain was having a joke at my expense or not. She has an odd sense of humor at times. Well, as the navigator, I spend the majority of my time making charts. Are you familiar with basic astronomy?

[signs]

Spoiler:
"Basic astronomy, I hope so. Regarding navigation, I'm sorry to admit I know very little. However, I am always willing to learn anything I can. A sharp mind is deadlier than any blade, even mine."

Kauul grins while patting his falchion.

Tells Jace about his history if asked.

What skill are you placing Astronomy under?

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

Kauul walks over to Jace and looks the man up and down checking him over for combat readiness.

"I Kauul, follow you now."

Spoiler:
"I do hope you sign as well, it will make things on board far easier. My limited vocalization capabilities are due to an injury I received some years ago and I have yet to acquire the funds needed to have the wound properly healed."

Spoiler:
"I must say, I'm a little surprised you can sign as well, but only a little. I had already made the offer to Sanura and was just waiting for time to begin actually teaching her.

Also, I forgot to say, I'd like to stay on and work for now, but I would like the option to make my final stay or depart choice after seeing how well the ship is run as a whole. Quick has heard of you, but I know only what I've witnessed so far. I do thank you for taking us onboard and will be happy to assist where I am able."

signs to Arioch

Spoiler:
I'd like to see how she runs her ship before deciding to stay or depart. For now, I think we should work to earn our passage.

"Stay, work passage for now."

Kaull wonders what the rest of the group will decide

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

*climbs aboard and looks to the woman in charge*

"Thank you."

*assits Arioch with bringing the excess ray meat on board*

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

I have returned!

*continues to mend the boat if needed*

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

sorry all, phones and net are down at home. I'll be back eventually

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

Doing this now because I have to work tomorrow and may not be available until late in the day.

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

*rest and get what sleep is possible after Arioch returns with food for everyone*

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

*turns the boat so it's heading east and continues rolling*

I think where we stand right now for rowing is this:

Kauul - 5 Hours
Nimm - 5 Hours
Quick - 6 Hours
Garan - 4 Hours

I figure the storm is going to have hit at some point before we get that far, and the dwarf may be able to row farther if Lyn lets the bears endurance effect him so he didn't fail the first roll, but that should mean you'd have 15 hours before your turn came up again Kauul.

Spiffy! I'd missed Garan's rolls.

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

Kauul should be ready to row again after 11 hours off the oars, yes? Also, after resting as best he could he prepped his regular spells except replacing message with prestidigitation.

Bad idea for those who do not have decent swim, and in rough weather, you would lose your air pocket and it would sink faster than right side up.

damn, I suspected as much....

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

*accepts a couple fish from Arioch and cooks them using his energy ray ability to wreath one hand in fire* "Arioch, good job." *eats the fish and then checks to make sure all his gear is secure*

I'm just going to leave Kauul's signing unspoilered from now on unless Arioch isn't around to translate. I hope that's okay?

(signs)"I agree with Fineal and Quentin. A time will come when we shall be able to strike those who've wronged us. That time, I believe, is not now. Our first goal should be to either reach land, or secure a large vessel. Vengeance shall be ours, but not this day."(/signs)

"I teach Signs, you teach?"

I admit, when I geared up in creation I expected to have certain supplies available from the ships supplies, such as rope....

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

right, and only 8 of the 9 of us need to fit in the boat

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

*adjusts his junk then climb on the dinghy*

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Plus, I have a feeling we'll be seeing them again, at least I hope so.

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

*steps to the side of the ship next to where Nimm will be climbing over and offers a hand to help pull him up and over the rail*

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

*looks at Fineal* "You good talk. Help or I cut." *pats his sword*

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

Since talking is a free action which can be done even outside you turn....

"PARLEY!"

*points at Fineal* "He talk." *sheathes his sword*

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2

I couldn't tell from reading, did I connect with my energy ray against the drow?

I've always had issues with that rule not holding up to logic. A real bullwhip would be much more dangerous than the rules allow for. She hit his hand. A chain shirt doesn't cover the hand. And it was subdual damage, and I was already being nice about not adding in her sneak attack or hitting him in the face. Since all he got from it was a sore hand, just roll with it. And yes, the nonlethal from before had already healed.

Okay boss.

male hobgoblin Fighter 1/Evoker 2
Quentin Silverhome wrote:
Yeah, my chain shirt is mithril and light enough to sleep in without penalty. And just as a question, I had the 5 non-lethal from before. That heals pretty quickly, between the cleaning and the sleeping, has it been long enough that would have faded?

Nonlethal damage heals at a rate of 1 hit point per hour per character level. So, you should be healed if it's been two or more hours since being hit.
