About Katrissa "Kitty" Windhaven

A young girl, barely or not even out of her teens, Katrissa (Kitty to her friends) has auburn hair with glints of copper & gold in the sun. Kitty's green eyes always sparkle with laughter and not many things can make a dent in her irrepressible joie de vie.

Biography Katrissa was born to Domitian and Viviana Arnisant. When she was three a rival family was able to maneuver the legal courts into assigning blame for a caravan's attack and the murders of its members on Domitian. This effectively outlaws Domitian in Taldon and he was forced to flee. Viviana, pregnant with the second child, was at her family's estates and thus was safe, but Domician and Katrissa had to flee.
The two made it to Cassomir and Domician was able to disguise himself an his daughter well enough to get aboard an outgoing ship, one carrying rare woods and unguents to Absalom. Along the way, the ship was attacked by Qadirian privateers and Domician was given a choice, help and become a pirate or die with the rest of the crew and passengers.
And that was how Domician Arnisant, the heir to a famous family in Taldor, became the infamous pirate Dom "the Blackgard" Windhaven.
Kitty grew up among the pirates and as Domician was a fair man (though hard); she was tolerated by his crew. In fact she became the crew's lucky talisman. The story was that as long as she was on board and kept safe, the pirates would always at least squeak by, if not totally succeed.
That was life for the next 15 years.
Early in 4710 AR, Dom took sick and quickly passed into Pharasma's care. Dom had attempted to keep his daughter safe from any politicking that would take place on his death and he was mostly successful. The man who succeeded Dom was Korlar "the Pike" (and it must be said, Korlar was not Dom's 1st choice). Korlar set sail for Absalom and there gave Kitty the choice, be his bedmate or leave the ship. Kitty gathered her things and left without a glance behind.

The Sea Spray is a large, seaworthy ship close to 85 feet long and 20 feet wide, and normally has a crew of 30-35. She can carry 150 tons of cargo. It has square sails on its two masts and can make sea voyages. It moves about 2 miles per hour on the average.
