Nobody said life would be easy. Father never made it easier for me anyways. I hated going home. Always the taste of his switch in my face. Nobody believed me when I told them of his actions. Father was a respectable man and mother always backed him up. She never saw what he did to me as it was.
Kasim was born to a Keleshite man and woman who spent their days drilling into me how I would never amount to anything like my eldest brother. He was the crowning jewel of the family and was always getting me into trouble.
Kasim tried to please his father by learning more about the family trade but it was never enough. An opportunity came to make a business deal that would help increase the family holdings. After sealing the deal father found out and was furious. It was not my place to make such deals. That was a rival that they wanted to stamp out and solidify holdings in the city. Now they would be ruined by this. I was publicly shamed for my deeds.
That night I made my move. I set up for father and my brother when in the evening they would come in and discuss the events of the business of the day. I had a musket ready for them. I would take over and nobody would be in the wiser.
I was in the next room when they came in. I had been having serious doubts about doing this when they came in and sat down and began talking about the plans they had to marry me into a rival house. I was too stupid to do anything else but bring money into the family. Anger boiled and in an instant they were on the floor dead and me with a smoking musket.
I didn’t know that mother had been there and had gone to get the authorities. They came and arrested me, put me on trial and convicted me of cold blooded murder. I was sent to the worst prison in the kingdom to await my fate.....
