Male Half-elf Rogue 3

"Yintarah, Sir Manfred, Lord Orlan (for so you are now); I will accompany you, but not all the way. My part in this tale is done, and my time as your guardian is over, child of flame. Sir Manfred must now be your path warden; I sense that you will learn much from one another."

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

"You understand less than you think. But I cannot blame you." Kamris says simply.

He turns to Yin and places a hand on her shoulder. He turns and addresses Manfred then Orlan.

"She is my charge. She was entrusted to my care and guidance. It is a thing not easy to render into the Common tongue. I am her guide, and I must shoulder the burden for her actions. It is guilt that has cast its shadow over me."

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

I thought I had written a response but it turns out I imagined it...

Kamris takes the spear from Rellios with respect. "I thank you." he says simply.

Upon hearing Manfred's bold request to the new king, he comes to the side of the hedge-knight.

"Why are you doing this?" he asks grimly of the warrior.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Just as an aside, here is one way in which I pictured Kamris. Edelfeld's painting of Legolas - as the artist himself describes it, 'a pale Red Indian' - I know, not PC, but he said it before the term Native American gained common usage; a term I prefer. Although my gf, who's part Cherokee uses both Indian and the latter term.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

"I thought to have garnered some information from them, as they were much intent on me. I suspected that they may have been after any form of elf-kin, so I needed to know if there was treachery afoot. And there was."

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

"Half-Elf." Kamris says with a note of correction. "You will note that my eyes betray my human heritage. Or perhaps you will not." He shrugs.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris rolls his eyes, "This is ludicrous. You see that I am still fully armed."

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Perception (sound) (1d20+10=26)

Kamris picks up on the confusion and dissension of the soldiers.

"Do not throw away your lives over the mistake of your fellows," he says to the other guards, "We have no wish for bloodshed, we respect the authority of your lord. I assure you, the combined might of this band will overwhelm you if your greed wins out over your sense."

Whew! Second longest speech ever!

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris half-smiles (an unusual sight) "KING Klnydak speaks great sense. I would report back that all is well here."

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

"My dagger is still sheathed," Kamris says calmly. "Yours is not. Come now, cease this deception."

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

"I believe you have the wrong man." Kamris says "Either way, Rellios is not going with you without explanation."

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

BTW Kamris really wants to avoid combat with all the guards. He knew these two were ne'er-do-wells, but reckons the others might be ok.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris spins, moving beside the man separated from his fellows and attempts to grab him. "His goal?" You may ask. A combination bargaining chip and an opportunity to explain that he isn't Rellios.

Grapple (1d20+4=21)

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

A 5ft step never provokes attacks of opportunity from anyone.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Oh well then definitely diagonal 5 ft step to the square above the guy on the left. That way I'll avoid AoO and then proceed to grapple. Rolls to come later... How exciting!

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

I'll say the balcony - he's not stupid; the stairs would be an obvious ambush and he knew something was up with these guys, if not the rest of them. In which case - do I even need to tumble, if a 5ft step (avoids AoO) can get me to the guy at the rear? Away from the Alpha rules at the moment, so will read up on grappling later on today.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

I knew they thought he was Rellios! I just had to play it out though. Sorry folks! And this way, the rest of you aren't embroiled in this mess. Gosh, Kamris is noble...

Kamris looks at the thrown dagger with a raised eyebrow. "I expected as much." he says calmly.

So if I understand correctly, one is front, and one is behind in a classic flanking? If that's the case, then Kamris will tumble past the one to the rear and try to grapple him. If I have misunderstood, please correct me.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

I realise that but what the heck :D

Kamris agrees, but remains ready for treachery.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris follows the soldiers and approaches the two men who have been looking at him, saying, "You wish to talk to me?"

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris continues to regard the soldiers coolly.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris follows Klyndak, regarding the men with an impassive stare.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Before leaving, Kamris grabs a silver crossbow bolt and stabs the blood-drinker through the heart.

I forgot about those! Thanks!

Klyndak wrote:

Just in case I don't get to post later... The plan is to drive something through its heart. Then I will use the short sword to cut off the things head. Rellios can use his fire to burn the body and while it burns, we'll carry the head with us out the other side of the room, where I plan on tossing it away into the bright light of the sun.

In the meantime, what's in the bag? :)

Am I chopped liver? :(

As a parting gesture, before they leave, Kamris fires a bolt into the coffin, and watches the flames burn.

"Rot in hell."

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris turns to the others, "Well then we had best be about it. How can we make sure it stays dead?"

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris regards the scene grimly and looks at his fellows, having reloaded the crossbow.

"Now there is an end." he says before going closer to the coffin.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Damn I missed that! A spear, I would have been on that like a shot...

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

You have TWO magic daggers? I haven't got any magic at all, except for a charitable donation from Klyndak, which I'm assuming is a loan. Damn miserly goblins... I killed things but they had no stuff to take!

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

IF it is attacking us...

Upon arriving in the disgusting chamber, Kamris fires at the shadowy beast.

Attack at point blank range; normal damage (which it will ignore of course) and fire damage (hoepfully - if I have remembered rightly) (1d20+7=10, 1d6=1, 1d6=6) Well... if the shadow in fact is ignoring us then, of course I won't do thisI got the bolt damage wrong but I missed anyway... Is it a move or full round action to reload - I can't remember if this is a light or heavy x-bow...

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Iomedae is female... poor Manfred...

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Fort (1d20+3=11)

The half-elf feels bilious as he descends... Klyndak's cologne perhaps?

Sigh.. that's all I need

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris nods with approval at his allies' attack and follows Rellios down.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris shakes his head. He could never have believed there was someone as melodramatic as Manfred was. And now they have joined forces...

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris accompanies his full-blooded fellow, crossbow loaded and ready.

Stealth (1d20+9=16)

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

meta-gaming wise, ordinary silver won't cut it. It needs to be magically treated. Unless Azubal is a weedy vampire...

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris takes the offered bolts and if does he notice the new monarch holding back on some silver and magical ones, he declines to raise the matter to Klyndak. After all, this crossbow supposedly fires.. 'fire' after all....

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Anyone got any crossbow bolts?

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris raises his eyebrows at Orlan's suggestion.

"It were best I find somewhere hidden from which to attack from surprise. I should go with Klyndak's band as the ambush group. Although this may raise his suspicions, he has proven himself to be arrogant. He may assume I have expired of my wounds." he replies.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris thanks Rellios and hefts the crossbow. He's not planning on getting close to the blood-drinker again...

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

"May I?" Kamris offers to take the crossbow.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

I've been playing it that Kamris knows that vampires are vulnerable to silver as a common "nasty things don't like silver" superstition. Other than that, that's it. He's seen what this one can do though.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Shoanti

Spoiler:
"And this surprises you? It is because we care for you that your actions distressed us. I am angry, yes, because we have spoken many times, you and I, about your powers and how they could be used for evil. I am upset because you tried to run from your deed rather than confront it. Now, come, we have much to do. This blood-drinker is our foe, and I thank you for saving my life. We are bound together, we two, and now we are bound to the fate of this new king."

After what, for him, is a speech of unprecendented length, he holds out his hand to the young mage.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Sigh.. time zones...

Earlier... before the meal... in reply to Rellios.

Elven

Spoiler:
"As you say, I am of the Shoanti by upbringing and by my mother's clan. The girl has been given into my care; the exact term is untranslateable from Shoanti. I am perhaps her guardian, and she my ward."

He surveys the group

"Indeed, things have taken a remarkable turn. And now it seems our fates our bound to the throne of the Spires."

Kamris goes to Yin, and says in Shoanti:

Spoiler:
"You cannot aid us by sulking like a child who has lost her spinning top. You must atone for what you have done; albeit he was a creature of evil, he was still our prisoner. You are under my care, but also you must understand that here there is no tribal council to wrap round your finger to excuse your actions."

At the meal later, his eyebrows raise in surprise at the frequent oaths and declarations. Although Manfred's wasn't that much of a surprise...

Sometimes I think the most intelligent member of the group was that horse of his...

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

I mean, I know when I'm flanking someone on a battlemat, but I suppose I need to know if/when I can do so in a description-led combat. Or I suppose I should say "Move into flanking position".

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

That reminds me, I'll need to know about flanking in future for sneak attack. I think I've only used it once.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

What bone-handled dagger? It's just an ordinary silver dagger. My PCs always have silver daggers. :D

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

The hlaf-elf concentrates on the dwarf's reply. His expression does not give away his surprise at finding someone whose speech is even more difficult to interpret than Orlan's.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris regards the new king with a withering stare.

"Would this be before or after said 'small, thin' person descends into the unknown?" he asks dryly.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

"My thanks." Kamris says to the half-orc.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

The half-elf looks quizzically at the conversation between on the one hand a stone chair, the new dwarf and his illustrious (if non-swimming) leader.

He notices Yin in the corner but is too angry still to talk to her.

Male Half-elf Rogue 3

Kamris looks at Rellios as if to say "Is he often like this?" and replies to Hru, "Indeed, as you can perhaps see, I suffered some injuries in our last encounter with the vampire."
