Male Half-elf Rogue 3
"You understand less than you think. But I cannot blame you." Kamris says simply. He turns to Yin and places a hand on her shoulder. He turns and addresses Manfred then Orlan. "She is my charge. She was entrusted to my care and guidance. It is a thing not easy to render into the Common tongue. I am her guide, and I must shoulder the burden for her actions. It is guilt that has cast its shadow over me."

I thought I had written a response but it turns out I imagined it... Kamris takes the spear from Rellios with respect. "I thank you." he says simply. Upon hearing Manfred's bold request to the new king, he comes to the side of the hedge-knight. "Why are you doing this?" he asks grimly of the warrior.

Just as an aside, here is one way in which I pictured Kamris. Edelfeld's painting of Legolas - as the artist himself describes it, 'a pale Red Indian' - I know, not PC, but he said it before the term Native American gained common usage; a term I prefer. Although my gf, who's part Cherokee uses both Indian and the latter term.

Perception (sound) (1d20+10=26) Kamris picks up on the confusion and dissension of the soldiers. "Do not throw away your lives over the mistake of your fellows," he says to the other guards, "We have no wish for bloodshed, we respect the authority of your lord. I assure you, the combined might of this band will overwhelm you if your greed wins out over your sense." Whew! Second longest speech ever!

I'll say the balcony - he's not stupid; the stairs would be an obvious ambush and he knew something was up with these guys, if not the rest of them. In which case - do I even need to tumble, if a 5ft step (avoids AoO) can get me to the guy at the rear? Away from the Alpha rules at the moment, so will read up on grappling later on today.

I knew they thought he was Rellios! I just had to play it out though. Sorry folks! And this way, the rest of you aren't embroiled in this mess. Gosh, Kamris is noble... Kamris looks at the thrown dagger with a raised eyebrow. "I expected as much." he says calmly. So if I understand correctly, one is front, and one is behind in a classic flanking? If that's the case, then Kamris will tumble past the one to the rear and try to grapple him. If I have misunderstood, please correct me.

Am I chopped liver? :( As a parting gesture, before they leave, Kamris fires a bolt into the coffin, and watches the flames burn. "Rot in hell."

IF it is attacking us... Upon arriving in the disgusting chamber, Kamris fires at the shadowy beast. Attack at point blank range; normal damage (which it will ignore of course) and fire damage (hoepfully - if I have remembered rightly) (1d20+7=10, 1d6=1, 1d6=6) Well... if the shadow in fact is ignoring us then, of course I won't do thisI got the bolt damage wrong but I missed anyway... Is it a move or full round action to reload - I can't remember if this is a light or heavy x-bow...

Kamris raises his eyebrows at Orlan's suggestion. "It were best I find somewhere hidden from which to attack from surprise. I should go with Klyndak's band as the ambush group. Although this may raise his suspicions, he has proven himself to be arrogant. He may assume I have expired of my wounds." he replies.

Shoanti
Spoiler:
"And this surprises you? It is because we care for you that your actions distressed us. I am angry, yes, because we have spoken many times, you and I, about your powers and how they could be used for evil. I am upset because you tried to run from your deed rather than confront it. Now, come, we have much to do. This blood-drinker is our foe, and I thank you for saving my life. We are bound together, we two, and now we are bound to the fate of this new king." After what, for him, is a speech of unprecendented length, he holds out his hand to the young mage.

Sigh.. time zones... Earlier... before the meal... in reply to Rellios. Elven Spoiler:
"As you say, I am of the Shoanti by upbringing and by my mother's clan. The girl has been given into my care; the exact term is untranslateable from Shoanti. I am perhaps her guardian, and she my ward."
He surveys the group "Indeed, things have taken a remarkable turn. And now it seems our fates our bound to the throne of the Spires." Kamris goes to Yin, and says in Shoanti: Spoiler:
"You cannot aid us by sulking like a child who has lost her spinning top. You must atone for what you have done; albeit he was a creature of evil, he was still our prisoner. You are under my care, but also you must understand that here there is no tribal council to wrap round your finger to excuse your actions." At the meal later, his eyebrows raise in surprise at the frequent oaths and declarations. Although Manfred's wasn't that much of a surprise... Sometimes I think the most intelligent member of the group was that horse of his...
