This ability appears clear to me, but others are not interpreting it the same way and I am looking for an official ruling, or something in the rules that clarify. It says:

Aura of Life (Su)

At 8th level, the paladin gains a +4 morale bonus on saves against attacks that grant negative levels and saves to overcome negative levels. Each ally within 10 feet of her gains a +2 morale bonus on these saves.

This ability functions only while the paladin is conscious, not if she is unconscious or dead.

This ability replaces aura of resolve.

So does this aura provide the paladin and allies within the aura, a saving throw vs. Energy Drain attacks? It seems to say so. Since so little in the game provides an initial save vs Energy Drain, there is some disagreement. I've looked around and haven't found any discussion of this before. I do understand the part about the bonus to overcome negative levels after the 24 hour period if the level is drained. The initial save is the only part in question.

Thanks.

I understand how the javelin of lightning works except for one thing: When it hits, it creates a 5d6 lighting bolt (with a link to the spell). It doesn't seem to indicate that the damage only affects the target. Does that bolt shoot forward away from you, or come back toward you? The bolt in the spell is 120 ft long, is this bolt that long? If it comes back toward you, does it stop before it hits you, or continue on past you (assuming you didn't throw it 120 ft before it activated) causing you damage? I couldn't find any discussion on this anywhere so here I am. Thanks for the help.
