About Kaiyohos StrongspearKaiyohos was born during the second moon of the Rainy Season. He was small, and very weak, but he would live. He was the third son in his family. At the age of 5 he was taught how to use a spear and wear armor, and his strength grew. At the age of 10, he went through the common coming of age ceremony. He was to be put into the pit with a wolf. Their weapons were matched, the wolf with its natural claws, and Kaiyohos' his. The wolf with its natural hide armor, and Kaiyohos natural skin. If it were not for his brute strength, he wouldn't have made it. A year afterwards, he met who would be the love of his life, Ewaha. Ewaha was the daughter of a smalltime farmer, and a quiet girl. Kaiyohos came up with the courage to ask her father in marriage, and impressed the old man. Ewaha's Father, Inui, told Kaiyohos that if he can hunt with only the help of his riding wolf and a spear, he may have her hand. It took Kaiyohos an entire week for him to find a prize worthy of what he thought of Ewaha. The animal was a giant buffalo, much bigger than Kaiyohos' riding wolf. The giant buffalo was a mighty prize indeed, but kaiyohos' riding wolf died in the battle. Ewaha's father was impressed by the size of the buffalo, but was most impressed that Kaiyohos was able to carry the beast back by himself. A year after they were married, Kaiyohos met his lifepartner, Cormag the Wolf. At the time, Cormag was a small pup, barely as big as Kaiyohos' thigh, but it had a heart stronger than all the other members of its litter. Cormag quickly grew to be the size of a normal wolf within 5 years. 5 years after Cormag had grown to a normal size, when Kaiyohos was about 20, Kaiyohos had his first son. Kaiyohos named him after his father, Iwa. Kaiyohos had been told that their first son would be cursed to be lame, but that didn't stop Iwa from learning to ride and hunt like his father. 2 years later, Kaiyohos had another son. This time, Ewaha named him after her father. Inui was fleet on his feet, and quite capible with the bow and arrow. Kaiyohos could not be more proud with his children and wife, words would not begin to describe how he felt about them. When Kaiyohos heard about the colonists all those years ago, he thought nothing of it. Now, that they have come closer and closer to his home and to his family, he worries and has decided that something must be done. Kaiyohos has heard of the name Wammsutta Thunderstick, and that Wammsutta had similar thoughts. Kaiyohos decided to make the long journey to the tribe where Wammsutta Thunderstick lives. Cavalier's Charge (Ex) At 3rd level, a cavalier learns to make more accurate charge attacks while mounted. The cavalier receives a +4 bonus on melee attack rolls on a charge while mounted (instead of the normal +2). In addition, the cavalier does not suffer any penalty to his AC after making a charge attack while mounted. Challenge (Ex) 2/day [Swift Action], you can challenge a foe to combat. Choose one target within sight to challenge. Your melee attacks deal extra damage whenever the attacks are made against the target of the challenge. This extra damage is 4. The cavalier can use this ability once per day at 1st level, plus one additional time per day for every three levels beyond 1st, to a maximum of seven times per day at 19th level. Challenging a foe requires much of the cavalier's concentration. The cavalier takes a -2 penalty to his Armor Class, except against attacks made by the target of his challenge. The challenge remains in effect until the target is dead or unconscious or until the combat ends. Each cavalier's challenge also includes another effect which is listed in the section describing the cavalier's order., he receives a +1 dodge bonus to his AC against attacks made by the target of his challenge. This bonus increases by +1 for every four levels the cavalier possesses. Intimidating (Ex) Half-orc receive a +2 racial bonus on Intimidate skill checks due to their fearsome nature. Lion's Call (Ex) At 2nd level, an order of the lion cavalier gains the ability to rally his allies. As a standard action, he can give an encouraging speech which grants all allies within 60 feet a competence bonus on their saving throws against fear equal to his Charisma modifier and a +1 competence bonus on attack rolls for a number of rounds equal to his cavalier level. If an ally within range is under the effect of a spell or ability that causes him to be frightened or panicked, he can immediately make another saving throw to resist the effect (if allowed). Exotic Mount (Ex) At 1st level, a beast rider forms a bond with a strong, loyal companion that permits him to ride it as a mount. This mount functions as a druid's animal companion, using the beast rider’s level as his effective druid level. The animal chosen as a mount must be large enough to carry the beast rider (Medium or Large for a Small character; Large or Huge for a Medium character). The beast rider does not take an armor check penalty on Ride checks while riding his mount. The mount is always considered combat trained, and begins play with Endurance as a bonus feat. A beast rider’s mount does not gain the share spells special ability. Each time the beast rider increases in level, he can choose to select a new, more impressive mount better suited to his increased power. Small-sized beast riders can choose a pony or wolf mount at 1st level. At 4th level, a Small beast rider can also choose an allosaurus, ankylosaurus, arsinoitherium, aurochs, bison, boar, brachiosaurus, elephant, glyptodon, hippopotamus, mastodon, megaloceros, riding dog, giant snapping turtle, triceratops, or tyrannosaurus. At 7th level, he can also choose a dinosaur (deinonychus or velociraptor). Medium beast riders can choose a camel or horse mount at 1st level. At 4th level, a Medium beast rider can also choose an allosaurus, ankylosaurus, arsinoitherium, aurochs, bison, brachiosaurus, elephant, glyptodon, hippopotamus, lion, mastodon, megaloceros, giant snapping turtle, tiger, triceratops, or tyrannosaurus as his mount. Additional mounts might be available with GM approval. In addition, a 7th-level or higher Medium beast rider can select any creature whose natural size is Large or Huge, provided that creature is normally available as a Medium-sized animal companion at 7th level (like a bear). To generate statistics for such a mount, apply the following modifications:
A beast rider cannot choose a mount that is not capable of bearing his weight, that has fewer than four legs, or that has a fly speed (although the GM may allow mounts with a swim speed in certain environments). Anytime a feat or ability allows a mount to make a hoof attack, it can make a claw, slam, or other analogous attack instead. This ability replaces the standard cavalier's mount and expert trainer abilities. Orc Blood (Ex) Half-orc count as both humans and orcs for any effect related to race. Orc Ferocity (Ex) Once per day, when a half-orc is brought below 0 hit points, but not killed, he can fight on for one more round as if disabled. At the end of his next turn, unless brought to above 0 hit points, he immediately falls unconscious and begins dying. Order (Ex) At 1st level, a cavalier must pledge himself to a specific order. The order grants the cavalier a number of bonuses, class skills, and special abilities. In addition, each order includes a number of edicts that the cavalier must follow. If he violates any of these edicts, he loses the benefits from his order's challenge ability for 24 hours. The violation of an edict is subject to GM interpretation. A cavalier cannot change his order without undertaking a lengthy process to dedicate himself to a new cause. When this choice is made, he immediately loses all of the benefits from his old order. He must then follow the edicts of his new order for one entire level without gaining any benefits from that order. Once accomplished, he gains all of the bonuses from his new order. Note that the names of these orders might vary depending upon the campaign setting or GM's preference.
Bonus Feats A gendarme trains to be a mounted terror, almost to the exclusion of all other abilities. He gains bonus feats at 1st level, 5th level, and then every three levels thereafter, but must select these bonus feats from the following list: Improved Bull Rush, Mounted Combat, Power Attack, Ride-by Attack, Spirited Charge, Spring Attack, and Unseat. If the gendarme has already selected all of the listed feats, then he may select his bonus feats from those feats listed as Combat Feats. This ability replaces tactician, greater tactician, master tactician, and the standard cavalier’s selection of bonus feats. Weapon Familiarity (Ex) Half-orcs are proficient with greataxes and falchions, and treat any weapon with the word "orc" in its name as a martial weapon.
