Hey Guys, I have some really really really bad news. I am going through a rough patch in my life. I can't really go into detail, but the reasoning is legitimate.

What I can go into detail about is the medium that we play in. I realized that this medium has become largely unsatisfying for me.There are certainty advantages: more detail, more characterization, and a different way of storytelling. But, I like seeing someone roll the dice. Seeing the laughter, the panic, and the excitement. It cannot be beat. I feel like this computer screen is too much of a wall to probably experience that kind of fun. Certainly, time is less of an issue in some circumstances, but game time is much slower. There are a large amount of games that are left unfinished.I would rather not go farther and do a disservice to you guys.

I am calling quits through this medium. I apologize for starting something and not being there to finish it. Especially when it is early game. It is important that I do this. I am glad to have the opportunity to play with you guys. This was a valuable learning experience.

Kairi looks for anything in the current room that could help reveal the invisible foe.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Knowledge (Arcana): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23

Spellcraft: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

"Niveus, you might want give this thing a colorful surprise. This creature has inherent magical properties to disappear. It is even more dangerous when we don't know where it is. Also, Aleon! It understands what we are saying."

Kairi moves quickly behind Aleon. Kairi mutters a few words in Samsaran and presses her hands on Aleon's rat bite wound.

"This creature can summon a rat swarm. Be careful!"

Light Cure Wounds on Aleon: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Kairi walks over to the door to help. With steady footing on Kairi's effort, she uses her strength to open the door.

Strength Check: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19

She walks inside... :)

Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15

"Something is not right. Why was this place abandoned?"

Kairi keeps the the dagger in her right hand. Her face is tight with tension. She listens for other strange sounds.. perhaps rodent like.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

"I would not be quick to think we are alone just yet. I am not sure if the wood is good for making structures. I mean.. a good part of it is decaying and its damp."

She attempts a smile, but the situation is far too serious, even for her.

Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18

Kairi's heart begins to pound and her adrenaline kicks in. Her mind quickly clicks like a walking dictionary. She swiftly procures a dagger.

She places a hand on her chest and feels a strange energy. Kairi speaks in Samsaran words that she believes she has already known before, before her own life. Words that hopefully will protect her friends.

Kairi casts bless

Kairi looks surprised as she sees the dangerous greeting. "Watch out!."

Initiative: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 = 15

Kairi attempts to replicate Saif's swimming.

Swim: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 - 1 = 5

Swim: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (11) + 2 - 1 = 12

Kairi leads the group, traveling down the long coast road to Licktoad's Village.

"What do you guys see?"

Kairi is clearly excited about the prospect of finding out the mysteries of the map.

Do you guys want to go down the Long Coast road, take a turn over to Licktoad Village and go to the first shipwreck?

Alright guys. How should we travel? Looks like we have options.

Kairi lets out a breath of relief, her knowledge has been validated.

"Saif promised me we would go over there. Would you like to come along with us?"

She quickly looks over to Saif. "I will need to do a bit of shopping first. Would you like to go over there tomorrow?

Kairi looks at Aleon with a confused expression. "Aleon, are you a bit shaken up by what the goblins were doing?"

Kairi continues politely, "Do you need some food in your belly? The Rusty Dragon makes good sourdough bread."

Kairi might be buying more equipment. Have to look up some stuff.

Kairi nods to Niveus. "We should ask Walthus if he knows anything more about the map."
Kairi thinks curiously as she inspects the map once more.

"My mind and memories are my weapon. The ingredients are just to keep you safe. I cannot wield a sword well. I have not even touched a bow. I have touched food instead... and have heard of many things. Food is a great way to get people to talk."

Kairi smiles, showing clear optimism. "Hopefully, we can keep each other safe from any future harm."

Kairi winces and looks away at the bloody sight. "Well..." She looks down on the floor with a sustained hesitation. After a brief moment, she raises her head to speak. "What should we do next?"

After being struck by a strange trance for a brief time, Kairi looks over to Niveus.

"Large waterways leading to some boats and a cave. It's on the map!"

She puts her hands to her cheeks with a excitable smile.

"Could you guys take me there sometime, pleassssse?"

So... I want to turn the goblin chief into a hireling and have him follow us around. With a few well placed Diplo checks he could be an excellent addition to the caravan.

Yes! That would be awesome.

It's a interesting pace. I feel this campaign goes for more minimalism in tone. Less is more kind of deal. I am enjoying it so far.

Kairi takes a deep breath and uses her power to determine magic in the area. "I am receiving something, from my previous memories, yet they are not or maybe..." Her body stiffens straight up, she stands still like being frozen in ice. Her eyes make a rather shiny supernatural glow that brights up the nearest wall. Not anything her companions have ever witnessed happen to her.

Focused Trance Twice for 24 seconds.

Rounds in trance: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4

Spellcraft with Focused Trance: 1d20 + 20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 20 + 8 = 45

Knowledge (Local) with Focused Trance: 1d20 + 20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 20 + 8 = 48

Your turn to do something. :) Then if the chief is still standing, it will be his turn.

Kairi attacks with a swipe of her dagger.

Melee Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4

Damage Roll: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

She throws more force with the swing. Making a horizontal chop at the Goblin. Unfortunately, speed and strength did not account for accuracy.

After healing Niveus for the third time. Kairi steps over the dead goblin's body. She places her feet firmly on the ground to avoid slipping or falling.

Acrobatics: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (19) - 3 = 16

With a deep inhaled breath, Kairi moves her right arm back to thrust at the Goblin Chief with her dagger.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 2 + 1 = 13

Damage Roll: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

With the work of just staying on her feet, her right hand twitches and does not meet her expectations. The stab was fast, but did not have the right force or precision.

Can Kairi step into the dead goblin's square next to Saif to stab with her dagger at the Goblin Chief?

Kairi moves with haste towards the ruckus. She takes a quick gander at her companions, attempting to determine who is wounded the most.

Heal: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

She heals whoever has the most evidence of being wounded from all the trouble that she did not see.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Kairi's spells are used up.

Kairi speaks rather quickly in Samsaran to cast bless. Her eyes glowing once more as she casts the spell.

She prepares to move if everyone else moves forward, staying behind Niveus as she does so.

+1 to Attack Rolls and Fear Effects. :)

He then leads Kairi toward Niveus.

"Oh, thank you dear. I cannot see too far ahead, it's the burden that remains.

"Twice nearly dead in two days. Safe to say I am not in high spirits. Also considering the wisdom of potions over gold to counter point my father's view on the subject."

Kairi gives a look of compassion, "Stay close, I want to keep you safe."

"Kairi, please?" he asks, nodding a head toward Niveus.

Kairi smiles a little. She finds being useful heartening. She looks over Niveus wound. She begins to speak in Samsaran with her eyes flashing with a white glow. Some kind of divine magical properties are flowing through her body. She places her hands on Niveus's wound tightly. Niveus's wounds begin to patch up and disappear.

Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

Kairi lets go of Niveus's wounded spot after 5 seconds or so.

"Lets keep moving, gentlemen."

Yes! :)

Kairi hesitates for a moment, "Lets wait for Niveus first."

Kairi pauses in thought, with her face showing continued concern. "Saif, are you okay? Did the goblins hurt you?"

"Oh dear... Niveus! Where are you?" Kairi's voice is filled with concern as she looks around.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

This was Kairi's first combat. Her motivation to fight is not out of any hatred or disdain towards anything, but rather trying to keep her friends safe. She cannot wipe off her dagger just yet. After seeing Aleon start heading off, She moves over behind Saif.

"I am right behind you, if more pain comes your way, I can relieve it. Like water in a long boil... only.. not so long."

As Aleon and Saif proceed, Kairi watches behind and on her right side to make sure there are no unexpected goblins.

She holds her dagger tightly, ready if any goblins come close to her.

"Saif! We have more goblins over here."

Kairi moves over and gets behind Aleon. Covering his back and providing support.

"We might need Saif, Aleon. Be careful!"

Standard Action

Kairi places her left hand firmly on her right shoulder to try to make her right arm strike with more precision. She directs her right arm back to jab the dagger into the back of the goblin's head.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage Roll: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Kairi continues with the same method.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Damage Roll: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

New Round

"Taste this!" Kairi stabs straight with her arm at the goblin in front of her.

Attack Roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Damage Roll: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

"Room seems to be clear." Kairi dashes into the room. She quickly moves to any door she can find and opens the door. "Stop hurting my companions. I am not afraid of you!"

Kairi cannot see beyond 30 feet because of the clouded vision curse. Spoilers would be nice for what everyone else sees besides Kairi in future posts. So we don't get confused or forget or something else.

Kairi opens the door right next to her and looks for any goblins in the room.

"Watch out guys! Three more goblins coming from the left."

Kairi tries to move past Niveus to get into the next room.

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Standard Action
Kairi looks behind, watching for any sneaking goblins.

Moving!

After she takes a look, she looks forward and moves behind Niveus.

Knowledge (Local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

"Keep moving forward. When we all get into the room, we need to use the tight spaces against them. Goblins are decent at sneaking around. So we must be constantly aware."

Kairi casts bless and moves to the spot where Aleon was before.

"Stay behind me Niveus" Kairi follows Aleon and Saif to the first building. Trying not to raise any attention, she lowers down while moving.

Stealth: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (16) - 2 = 14

Kairi draws her dagger and speaks softly, "We need to stay together boys. I want to help, especially if one of you gets hurt. A good cook must be mindful of her friends and guests. If I cannot help you guys, I will not be able to help Koya in her time of need. I want to see every friend still alive and well to eat the next meal I make. After you Aleon, I will be right behind you."

I am going to be busy for today. Celebrating Mother's Day. Moms are awesome!

"Hmm... lets see what we have here."

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

It's all good. No worries.

Excellent cooking Kairi, thanks.

"Aleon! That is sweet of you."

"We should head in the most direct way to the licktoad tribe. Better to stamp them out quickly than to not."

Kairi walks in with a tray of tea for each person in the room. "Here is the tea. Your black tea is right here, Saif." She sets it down. If we boil down are choices, I see it as a danger vs. time issue. I am fine with either option, one of our burdens is lessened by either choice."

Kairi pauses for a moment.

"However, we should be careful no matter what choice we make."

Kairi walks back into the kitchen.

"The main course should be done soon."

Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21

She looks behind, wanting to know who is making a racket in the kitchen.

"What do we have here? You must be rather hungry, sneaking around like that." She gives him 2 snack platters. "This should keep you occupied, please share it with everyone else, if you can." She smiles and gets back to work.

Kairi grabs her dagger, wipes the blood off, and puts the dagger away.

"This creature was pretending to be you. I need to wash this blood off my hands. Yuck!"

She playfully skips to the kitchen. "I hope you don't mind if I cook for everyone, we can talk more once are stomachs are full. Just sit down, relax, and let me do my magic."

Kairi washes her hands of the blood. "Alright, now lets see." She starts grabbing food and spices. "Oh! Oh! I will use this! Did not know you had this Walthus! Excellent! This will smell great."

She grabs from her own pack of spices. " A little from my stash here."

Kairi starts cooking the food.

Cooking: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28 Yes! Fine Dining!

This takes a bit of time.

A wonderful aroma comes from the kitchen.

"I am not completely done with the food yet. Do you guys want some tea?"

Kairi moves as fast as she can to Niveus's side. She sets down the bloody dagger on the floor.

"Oh dear! Let me help you."

After a gesture of her hands and some words in Samsaran, she places her hands on Niveus's wound.

Light Cure Wounds: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8

After having her hands tightly gripping on Niveus's wound for a few seconds, she lets go.

Kairi pulls her right arm back and with the muster of all the strength she has, she thrusts the dagger forward in an attempt to pierce through the creature's tough hide.
