Having noted Khronos' claiming a hug from the Jensen children, Kaelynne reaches out shyly and gives the paladin a brief hug herself before quickly stepping away and turning her attention to Gratitude once more. "I agree too, besides with so many children we need to keep as close to a routine as we can to save them getting too confused, tired and upset to be moved easily."

Gratitude Turathsloss wrote: "Kaelynne, we may be pawns in this, but we are not powerless." "Not powerless but expendable" Kaelynne replies in a dark utterance before she can stop herself. "Sorry, I mean tactically I hope none of us truly are pawns, I would hate to see any of you have to sacrifice yourselves for the greater cause" She adds quietly, laying a fingertip on the king playing piece.

Kaelynne gives a tiny sigh and clasps her hands together as she leaves the others to do what they need to do. Feeling a little at a loss for what to do with herself she stands herself near Gratitude, listening to his plans but unable to offer any good advice she instead emains silent.

Kaelynne looks up from her now reasonably settled son and feels suddenly guiltstricken at seeing the others planning. Quickly she gets to her feet and makes her way over to Khronos "I'm sorry, I had to settle Uriel, I couldn't put that burden on anyone else, and then Agreis.. and Anya.." She exhales sadly and looks pained for a second before shaking it off "Is there anything I can do to help you and the others?"

"Alright, take care, both of you" She tells the other woman with a small smile before turning away quickly to hide the tears threatening to form in her eyes at how difficult the exchange is. Shaking her head a little she forces herself to not mourn the dying friendship and instead focuses on returning to her son and keeping him calm.

"I.. umm.." Kaelynee falters as she looks around, utterly clueless as to who could have been so generous, and to why they didn't want her to know who they are. After a moment she looks at Anys once more and bows her head a little "Could you at least thank them for me?" She asks with a weak smile.

Opening the package Kaelynne's eyes fly wide in amazement. Quickly putting it and her son down she dashes after the other woman. "Anya!" She calls out "Anya, who gave you this?" she questions gesturing back to the bundle beside Uriel "I really can't accept something so generous, I have to return it"

Kaelynne shifts a little awkwardly as Agreis gets closer to her and exhales slowly to steady herself. "It will be a difficult path, there may be even more hardships ahead but we have to remain positive. We will make it through this, I will do my best to ensure it. All I have to offer is my blade but hopefully that will be enough to help"

"I'm fine, truly" Kaelynne assures the man as she lightly strokes Uriel's hair to help continue calming him "It's the others you should be thanking, I just did the best I could.. but please go rest, everyone will need to try their hardest to relax once more we have more travelling to do." pat512 wrote: Taldor uber alles! Kaelynne lightly wraps her arms around her son and smiles weakly at Agreis. "I'm fine, really" She tells him certainly "And what about you? And Anya, is she alright?" She questions steadily, doing her best to keep her wounds as hidden as possible from Uriel and the other villager.

"Get the goblin" Kaelynne instructs Donaar through gritted teeth, sure that dealing with all of the goblins is far more important than the wolves. Lunging forward she attempts to gain the majority of it's focus so Donaar can back off and ensure all goblins are killed or captured. Covering Attack (1d20+6=15)

Thanks for that, it's exactly what she would have done. My writing brain has been really uncooperative of late and I especially suck at writing combat actions, I will try to fix myself for the next action!

Kaelynne blushes faintly at Khronos' words, unable to control the warm glow she feels at hearing him voice such complimentary words. "Khronos, it's because you see these things in us that we all feel so strongly in your abilities. I cannot speak for the others but for my part you give me faith in myself which will be very important in this journey." She announces quietly with a weak smile. "Of course if you don't want to lead that is your choice and if we chose to act as a commitee then I will try my hardest to help you all."

pat512 wrote: Good point -- what watch or watches are y'all on? You need six hours of sleep or (for Kaelynne) four hours of trance. She would point out that she's quite aware whilst in the trance so she can put herself somewhere where she can hear things other than the villagers to enter her trance. A second guard would be needed during that time to be on the safe side but all in all she's happy to sit in a good place to be a lookout all night. In the early evening Kaelynne sits with the children, especially her son, trying to settle them so they'll sleep. A sad smile comes to her face at something Uriel says and she replies quietly in elven.
Spoiler: "We're going to find a new home, a good home" She tells him certainly "But you get to sleep, dream of a new home, think on what you'd like for our new house and tell me in the morning, alright?"

Kaelynne nods in approval of Khronos' plans. "I will stay with the children and defend them as best I can" She announces simply with a small bow of her head, her hand briefly finding the hilt of her sword and a slightly embaressed smile comes to her face. Finiding admitting proficiency with weapons is still a little strange for the eladrin and she quickly distracts herself by tending to her son and his young friends. Skill checks? Fighter? Hahaha! Funny..

Kaelynne raises a questioning eyebrow at Yurk's words but remains silent staving off personal curiousity in the face of the more serious matter at hand. Reclaiming her son from the kind paladin she shakes her head a little at the child. "..and what do we say when people a nice to us?" She asks little Uriel who concentartes for a moment before piping up. "Thankyou?" He asks, giving a grin as his mother nods. Swinging around in her arms he looks up at the bearded man with wide eyes "Thankyou!" Laughing a little to herself at how simple and wonderful the world was to a three-year-old the eladrin shakes her head a bit. Slowly she gives a nod at the heavier words around her and sighs sadly. "Don't worry, I am listening, it's a skill every parent learns to pick up quite quickly, multitasking... Speaking of which..." She gets up and makes her way over to Adar and sits beside him, settling Uriel in her lap as she does so. Wordlessly she reaches over and tenderly wipes away another tear that rolls down the young man's cheek. "He's right Yurk" She agrees "Nobody should be deprived of the people they care about if it can be managed."

Kaelynne stares on in utter disbelief at the announcement, briefly taking her attention fully away from her child. "I'm all for helping people relocate if you really think it's the best choice for everyone, but I'm really not sure if I'd be the best candidate for assisting in guiding the people. I..." She trails off as she spots her son toddling over to Teven, clearly intrigued by the newcomer. "Oh, I'm sorry, he's at that painfully curious stage" She explains, obviously a bit embaressed over having to bring her son along but she has nobody to help keep an eye on him.

Sat on the floor with her son Kaelynne listens carefully to the stranger's words, a clearly concerned expression on her face and her arms instinctively wrap a little more tightly around the toddler. That is until he objects and squirms and she lets him go, allowing him to roam and explore a little, currently blissfully unaware of the fate ahead of him and the village. A little wide-eyed she scans the people gathered, watching their reactions closely. She'd always been quite comfortable in her martial ability up until this point. |
