About K'Chaw

Karasu Momoru was born in Kwanlai, but her parents traveled a great deal, working as translators for merchants and diplomats in many lands. In Hongal, Momoru fell in love with riding horses, and the nomads derisively nicknamed her "K'Chaw" for the sound an excited crow makes. However, her perseverance and natural talent eventually earned her their respect. When her family moved on, she stayed among the Hongali for a few more seasons, learning their language and horsemanship techniques. When the nomads began to use the nickname out of affection rather than mockery, Momoru began to use "K'Chaw" in preference to her birth and family names. Since then, she has found that the absurd name often serves to make others underestimate her.

K'Chaw is biologically a female tengu, but she habitually wears heavy armor that makes her gender practically impossible for a non-tengu to identify. Since her sojourn in Hongal, she has spent so little time around others of her race that she has never felt any desire for romance during her adult life. She is perfectly satisfied with the platonic companionship of other adventurers of compatible temperament, and the common folk who she has pledged to defend.

Because of her extensive travels since early childhood, K'Chaw is comfortable among a wide variety of folk--including a few unlikely races such as goblins. Her time among the Dragonskull Tribe has vindicated the effort that she has put into studying that race, because she has found some worthy of her trust and respect. She recently took on a goblin of this tribe, Thibdab, as a squire.
