Appearance:
What strikes people first about Joriannika is her optimistic demeanor. She dresses like an artisan still, with tools tucked about her on belts and in pockets and pouches, but it's her cheerful smile and open and friendly personality that people remember. She's a very upbeat person, looking on the sunny side first and last, and her earnest arguments (she would call them discussions) carry her farther than her soft-spoken words would suggest. With brown hair that sparks red in the sun, and blue eyes that gleam with good humor, Jori is like a fey little imp, always ready for trouble.
Background:
A fire-hearted troublemaker from Oregent in Andoran, Jorianikka believes wholeheartedly in the spirit of Andoran - Truth, Justice, and the Andoran Way; she's passionate and idealistic, but a wee bit naive.
She wasn't always a political firebrand. The third of four siblings, her parents were artisans, engineers who set high standards for their children, expecting them to carry on the family tradition. But while learning the trade, she was exposed to new ideas that took hold with her - alchemy, and the first stirrings of politics.
When her mother died in a work accident, Jori was hit hard by the loss. She left off engineering to work more with alchemy, joining the militia. But she fell in with a political crowd that woke a feeling of national pride in her, and made her think hard on her own values. She stayed with them for some time, until an incident where her negligence was responsible for harming the reputation of the leader of their faction. She decided then that there were other places that could be aided by the Andoran Way.
Meaning to spread this good word in Galt, where she had heard they could use the help, she was traveling up the Sellen when she ran afoul of river pirates. Traps, she's good with - ambushes, not so much. Those dirty river rats survived her bombs AND left her half-dead in the water! A kind trader family fished her up downstream and tended her wounds aboard their boat, but they were headed to Belhaim, not Galt. Joriannika means to repay their kindness... somehow.
The last bit can be altered if we all need to be connected to Silas Gribb's caravan.
