About Jonathon Brubacher

Johann Brubacher was born in Borogravia. As a child he was given to the religious order of Nuggan where he learned, through grueling hours of mental training, how to avoid the temptations. As a final test he was placed in a room filled with chocolate and left alone for days without food. His mental strength earned him a place as a sentinel upon the town walls.

It was there, during long nights of resolute, unblinking, concentration that he began to feel a strange presence lurking in the darkness between the stars. It called to him sweetly from beyond reality and he began to giggle or chuckle to himself while on duty. At first he was able to ignore it but overtime it began to change and warp him. As time passed the force revealed itself to be none other than Bel-Shamharoth. Bel-Shamharoth offered relief from the prohibitions of Nuggan and promised insight into the power of the dungeon dimensions. One night, it led Jonathon away from the walls of the town while he was on duty and showed him, under a polished black stone, eight octagonal scrolls. As Jonathon began to read his mind became entranced, and he began to know truth. When Jonathon returned to the town in the morning he found that it had been attacked and that entire populace had been put to the sword. This did not bother Jonathon. He could see now that these people were not important. The only thing that was important was the mystery at the heart of the void. He would understand it.

With his ties to his homeland broken, Jonathon travelled to Anhk-Morpork in hopes of finding and stealing the Octavo. Jonathon’s insights into the tapestries have given him insight into the workings of the minds of mortals which have improved his ability to manipulate them to his purposes using. He is currently staying at the Reformed cultists of the Ichor god Bel-Shamharoth.
