This makes no sense to me. This is a product to help DMs pass out magic items to his players and to keep better records of what the players have. Thats great, and was impressed. Then I start to read into it more. Boosters? Rares? What, is this a collectable card game now...No. But, to get some of the cards I need, I have to buy x number of packs to get it. Miniatures, OK I can deal with that. There are so many uses for them than D&D, such as skirmish etc. This is just a tool to help a DM. Sorry, not going down this street again...
Im running the Age of Worms campaign. So far I am very impressed. Just starting to read through the Kings of the Rift adventure, when I read the following encounter:
There is also another encounter with 12 black dragons and 10 green dragons and 6 blue dragons. Now, I dont have a problem with the encounters, except for one. I uses miniatures in my games. How do I play out these massive encounters without the miniatures to represent them. Its just no fun to say "u see 6 blue dragons begain a strafing run on your fighter" then put down 6 pennys. Any ideas on how I can solve this problem. How are you others DMs going to play out this massive adventure?
Just wanding what event other DMs are using in their campaigns? For example, Im thinking of haveing my players, right when they start their meeting in the abandoned mine office, hear Auric and his party passing by in their search for a tomb in the Cairne Hills. What other events involving the NPCs of Diamond Lake have you other DMs come up with as the players are exploring the Whispering Cairn then going to town for supplies, etc. Perhaps I might like them enough to use them myself!! Thanks!
Starting AOW campaign next Wed. One of the players wants to play a Druid. First, I need suggestions on how to set up a Druid in DL. I need all of my players starting out on deadend jobs(I have one player starting as a Deputy of Cubbin, but is treated no better than a stableboy!!), wanting to get out of town. How do I set up a Druid or Ranger like this. Second I need a DMs help on Accommodating a Druid player. He is not very good at playing, but I want him to enjoy the character. I have DMed for about 20 years and never had a player run a druid. Any help would be great.
As a DM myself, I like to suprise the characters with monsters they have not encountered yet. For them to try looking it up in the MM would not only upset me as the DM trying to work hard to have an enjoyable game, but as players, it takes the fun away from the adventure. Thats like saying, everytime a character encounters a monster they have not yet meet, the stats appear above their head. Thats just plane makes no sense!!
I been thinking of using the Idea of making one of my players a deputy of Cubbin. Just wondering if any DMs have done this as well. My problem is I want him to have always lived in Diamond lake. So how does he become a deputy? As a condition to this, I told the player his character does not enjoy how Sheriff Cubbin and his crew treats the citizins of Diamond lake, so how do I keep him from abusing his power. Thanks for any help you Fellow DMs could give me. |
