As I understand it (qualifications: I'm a Traveller 3rd party publisher), Mongoose has an exclusive license for ... years (until something like 2018). All non-Mongoose (and Steve Jackson) licenses are sunsetting and not being renewed, nor are new ones being issued.

Everything you say is true, but I believe that Paizo would have a chance for a license based on the strength of their company (especially when compared to QLI).

I had deeply considered a "non-chaotic" alignment restriction for the cavalier, but left it out to keep things flexible. I could easily see an order of the dragon cavalier not being particularly lawful, the question is whether or not he is chaotic.

Thoughts?

I can see two possibilities here that could retain the flexibility while not stretching the disbelief suspenders too much:

1) Restrict the class to either Lawful or Neutral alignments

-or-

2) Restrict the Order that a Cavalier can belong to within one alignment step of that Order. This would be similar to Clerics who must be within one alignment step of their diety's alignment.

Ghouls in 3.5 were also CR 1. I just checked the d20srd and my monster manual to confirm. Ghasts (advanced Ghouls) are CR 3 - perhaps thats what you were thinking of?

Yeah, I got the numbers mixed up. My bad. Ignore my last.

Nothing to see hear, folks! Carry on!

Sovereign Court

I just downloaded the Pathfinder Bestiary Preview 2 and saw that in the entry for the Ghoul, that they are listed as having a CR of 1. I wanted to make sure that this was correct, and if correct to learn why the CR was lowered from 3.5 for this particular monster.

This is mainly to satisfy my own curiosity.

I agree that we shouldn't harass Dragonmoon over being the messenger bringing us this offer from Goodman Games.

I am, however, sceptical of the intentions of Goodman Games behind the offer and will not be participating in it.

Sovereign Court

Thanks for the responses! I didn't think that any of the material was Open Content, but I wanted to doublecheck to make sure.

Sovereign Court

I was wondering if any of the material presented in either Dungeon Magazine or Dragon Magazine was considered open content and able to be used in Third Party Products?
