About Jaygo Lightfoot
Description
Jaygo is a very tall man, with broad shoulders. He walks with a grace and poise. His raven Doctor Sin is rarely far from his shoulder. Short blond hair tops a clean shaven handsome face. Blue eyes peer intently from behind a pair of ornate crystal glasses. He usually wears fine, tailored clothes favouring dark colours such as deep purple.
Background
Jaygo was born (18th of Reaping, Godsday) and raised in Greyhawk City, showing a promise of intelligence from his earliest years. His father was an herbalist and had apprenticed Jaygo into his craft from a young age. Jaygo excelled at his studies and before his eleventh birthday was a competent as any journeyman. Jaygo was also fascinated by languages and loved walking through the city listening to all the different tongues and dialects it had to offer.
Jaygo’s life was changed forever one day in the market. He was talking to one of the ravens that sometimes sat by the fountain at the end of the market square. He was enthralled by the complex set of chirps and clicks the bird was making. It almost seemed like it was talking in a language and Jaygo, if he listened long enough thought he might be able to understand the bird. Davish Ostrasson, a wizard of local renown, was watching this exchange. He could see the boy talking to the raven with what almost looked like understanding when the raven spoke. After watching for a short while he approached the boy. Davish asked him his name and what his trade might be. Jaygo introduced himself and told of his apprenticeship to his father. Davish accompanied the boy home and asked his father to release him from his trade and allow him to train the boy instead. Jaygo was shocked that a wizard would want to teach him anything. He also noticed the raven had followed him home too.
Davish promised Jaygo that he would be able to understand the bird with the magic he would teach him. Jaygo begged his father to let him go. Davish offered a princely sum as recompense. It was agreed. Davish, Jaygo and the bird all returned to Davish’s home. Jaygo learned the name of the raven, Doctor Sin. The two formed a close bond, which persists to this day. Jaygo found that the theory and application of Magic came as natural to him as the names and uses of herbs did. Davish was impressed and through Jaygo’s teenage years taught Jaygo as much as he could. Jaygo successfully completed his apprenticeship, two years earlier than any other wizard’s apprentice in Greyhawk City, and joined the ranks of the wizard community of the City.
For 6 years Jaygo and Doctor Sin have travelled far and wide and gained new knowledge, including many new languages. At the beginning of the year Jaygo heard his father was ill and returned home. Jaygo has been looking after the small herbalist shop until his father’s recent death.
