Without even thinking Jay Zin ran into the room and flipped the guards body over trying to revive the rebel on the ground... in the new map it looks like there's a door that was not on the maps given to us by Mintz. Is that intentional? Jay Zin decides it's time to armor up. He pulls out a heavily stylized black leather jerkin from the bottom of his pack and pulls it on. This is followed by some bracers and leg guards. It's obvious that he is not completely comfortable in this armor. Light armor ... not skilled with it so penalties apply.

Action 1 At the cobbled group of rebels moved through the streets Jay Zin sullenly scanned the streets which were now devoid of life. For the first half of the trip he generally avoided conversation with the others choosing to simply listen to Daks prattle on. The day had been eventful and all the changes and new people weighed on the young mans head. He travelled with virtual strangers serving as a foot soldier in a war he knew almost nothing about. The few people he saw in the streets were scared and keeping their heads down. These were not the faces of people who felt liberated. Had he chosen the right side of this conflict? He chose to verbalize the concerns he was feeling. Are we sure this is better for the people of this city and country. To be honest I'm an outsider and really don't know much about local politics. You know the "Merchant Lords" or Tarvesh for that matter. How do we know we aren't taking power out of the hands of 4 or 5 corrupt men and not simply consolidating it in one corrupt man's hands? As he was speaking Jay's eyes glossed a fallen stand. He ran over and started looking through various bags. Most were ruined... and some were obviously intended for certain jobs... he poked through what hadn't already been scavenged to see if their was a better way to carry the handful of spears he had precariously strapped to his back. search large quiver: 1d20 ⇒ 12 He was about to throw away a tangle of leather straps when he realized it was a webbing of sorts. It took him a minute to sort it out but he realized it was prolly originally meant as a tool belt or bandolier of some sort. He slung it on and played with the straps till It felt comfortable. Then he started sliding spears into the individual loops. He adjusted them and it worked out pretty well.

Looking at the plans of the building it looks like the only windows are on the front of it... I wonder if there are any defenses on other parts of the building... Will it even make a difference if we try to approach from the back side of the building... unless any one has some better ideas I guess we just show up and take a look at the place from down the street. Chances are there are planty of looters out there so we shouldn't look too conspicuous...

Basai, "It" is a name you use for an object or thing when you don't know what to call it or possibly to save time. To call a person "It" is very rude. "She" or "her" are names you can use for any girl or female when you want to save time or do not know her name. Breona and Azzuretta are both she's. "He" or "him" are names you use for a boy or male when you don't know their name or want to save time. The rest of us here other than Breona and Azzuretta are he's. Striking at Kesinger for the food and supplies would do much to help the lives of the average people. An important target for the long term plans of this rebellion. Somehow though... slaughtering a host of guards like those we have already dispatched of here... doesn't apeal to me. Jay turns the glove over and places it in his other hand... On the other hand... It sounds like the warehouse where a large amount of technology and devices is being stored would be a larger threat to the safety of the people. Most likely Zhong will also put up a bigger fight as well with a better equipped set of troops. Who knows maybe we'll get to fight a mutant or robot as well. Either way anyone know what this thing does? Jay holds up the glove. Jay smiles and looks at Breona... the only other person he thinks of as being near his own age. There's Basai a head taller than any of the other people here. Still not sure what to think of him. Seems to be pretty cool though. I thought I would be fighting against things like him not with him. There's Breona with a group of men standing around her. I wonder if she knows they're all standing around her because she's a pretty and confidant girl? Who is the one standing away from her fidgetting. He looked similar to her in a few ways. Same eyes... Must be her brother. Even with the fighting over he looks nervous. And there's Mechanus sticking out like a sore thumb the only one with his hood pulled over his head looking at the ground instead of at the speaker. Looks kind of like a mouse standing like that. He is trying way too hard to maintain a low profile. Every guard knows that the only cloak in a crowd is usually the source of trouble. Although I'm sure anyone who cared to look at me would be able to tell I'm watching the crowd and not the speaker. We really arn't like the other rebels. We all stick out even if we try not too.

I would say most of the time there is no difference. It's just a descriptor of rerlative strength of the cypher. In certain situations if a character is creative they might be able to try and do something to tamper with an ongoing effect. Let's say you use onslaught to destroy a strange crystal that you recognize as a cypher attached to the enemies weapon... Difficulty is adjusted by that cyphers level. Or maybe, An ally is under the effects of a cypher that makes them lethargic and you want to counter act the effects... well now we have a difficulty for that. But I don't think the level will have an effect on the items actual effect or use unless it's listed in the items description.
M-10/10 S-14/14 I-16/16 "Swift Jack who Controls Beasts"
I think page 280 of the Core rulebook makes it clear that there should always be a role associated with using a cypher. That way there's always a chance for a 20 or a 1. Usually it's an intellect roll but sometimes it's a speed roll or even a might roll based off of situation. Mintz just showed us what happens if we roll a 1 on that check.

OOC: In the cheat sheet that someone shared it says that in a pvp situation we would both roll. I assume this would be true in the case of an attack, a sing off, an arm-wrestling match or the use of a cypher. I'm assuming that since Jay had to touch Mechanus it would be a speed roll or possibly an intellect roll if there's a question about whether Jay can activate it correctly, I would think that Mechanus would be in the situation where he could make his roll with any stat he chose: ie. Strength he wrestles with Jay trying to stop him from touching him... Speed he dodges the touch... and intellect he resists the powers of the cypher with his mind. When it comes to cyphers am I allowed to describe what they look like and how they function? Just to reiterate I don't have access to the book that the item I'm using comes from and have never actually used a cypher yet. Last time I tried to use one I learned that it was self only deal. While I 'm asking questions are we allowed to trade or gift cyphers to each other? My apologies for being a noob to the system and creating general chaos. It felt like a good plot device to play off... was my only real reasoning there. At this point I would think that maybe your character just thinks so much more than other people on so many different channels, much of it you completely unaware of, that it's impossible for her to process that much information. Or Maybe the devices in your head just makes your thoughts sound like nails on a chalk board to her. He appeared to be lean, sporting the ghost of a beard, and looked pretty much as out of place as she feels. At his words, Breona had to chuckle. "I don't know, I'm new to rebellions too. Not really sure what I am doing here." It put her at ease somewhat, and she flickered the ghost of a smile at Jay Zin. Jay was happy to know he wasn't the only misfit around here. He was trying to think of what to say next when in came running Azzuretta clearly agitated. He looked at her in surprise. Iv'e never seen her like this... something outside must have changed drastically.Jay Zin ran to the door and all he saw was the small group jogging towards him... He immediately noticed that ROCK creature bringing up the rear. I bet it was him... I bet that rock monster did something to Azzuretta. Jay started to raise his crossbow but thought better of it... Looking at Azzuretta cowering in the corner trying to hide behind Breona's legs He knew that Azzuretta needed him right now, and there was no immediate danger. Jay walked past Breona simply saying excuse me! and knealed down by his panicked Xi-drake.

Daks La'Furn wrote: Some clarification before we move on. @Breona is saying we're in the barracks. @Basai is talking with Fannar Bryn but referring to him as the button-pusher still. Which implies we're still back at the warehouse. So i'm going to lay things out as best as I can on my turn to organize action 3. If I step on any toes or character development I am more than happy to edit this post later so it makes sense. :D looks like our GM has some work cutout for him on this one... I think he has intended to use action 3 to get everyone to the Barracks... But Basai hi-jacked the turn for awesome and cool character development. My current understanding is that at the start of Action 3 everyone is at the warehouse except for Breona and Jay, who are in the Barracks. @ ATXRedBeard might have to add an action 4...

Action 3 Jay had to admit to himself that he felt a little out of place as he walked into the barracks. It reminded him of a wedding he had gone to while still in Ledon. As a young recruit six years ago he had accompanied Grand Knight Clare't Mon to the ceremony and felt completely out of place. There was so much celebration, a little crying, and he felt like he knew no one. He scanned the rebels trying to figure out what he should be doing. His eyes passed across a dark skinned woman standing in the corner of the room with her hood pulled close to her face. Breona She looks as out of place and as uncomfortable as I do... Jay Zin hoisted his crossbow over his shoulder and leaned his back against the wall about five feet from her and watched the rebels in their generally disorganized looting. So what does one usually do in a rebellion. It's my first time at one of these... and I feel like I know no one... Yep... awkward ... Just like the wedding...

Action 2 Jay Zi jumped a little as Azzuretta plainly displayed her anger at him. It had been a while since she had done that. He started to scream back What's the Big Dea... when he saw the two native workers dressed in rags hiding in the underbrush. He addressed the two men who were obviously scared out of their wits. Don't worry stay down and you will be fine... she's just angry at me for not noticing you sooner. Did one of them piss himself? Azzure that was a little Melodramatic don't you think? If they had been a threat I would have noticed them....but... it's nice to see you havn't ditched me for your new boyfriend. Turning his attention back to the Barracks Jay could see that the fight was well in hand and that the Guards were in full retreat. Come on Girl let's go see what the party inside is going to be like.

Action 1 Frazzled and annoyed at missing what he was sure would be a kill shot Jay Zin reaches down into his quiver and pulls out the next bolt... Eight shots... need to make them count... No more trying to be the hero. Just finish off those who are already injured. Pierce: 1d20 ⇒ 19 Moving forward through the Garden the young Knight waits for the right moment and then he sees one of the guards take a strike to the leg. He releases the bolt as the man falters and the bolt takes the man in the neck. The Guard goes down... The Rebel who had struck the man's leg looks over his shoulder and makes eye contact with Jay. Jay nods his head tand the two both turn their attention back to the fight. I hope you don't mind the liberty of assuming one of the guards will recieve an injury

Sounds good, still learning the basics but it all seems to make sense... I'm sure there are plenty of particulars I'll come across as we play.

Okay. Lets try that again. I would like to use pierce and apply one effort. With one edge that will cost me two points from my speed pool. The damage will be 8 total (4 for weapon, 1 for pierce, 3 for effort)... My advantages to hit will be the fact that I'm glowing. The fact that they are slowed, and the fact that I have a sniper position. Maybe even 3 people attacking the same person.

Action 1 Jay Zin barely had time to celebrate his two well placed crossbow bolts before someone was asking about and complimenting Azzuretta. She bites one guy and gets all the credit... what is with that... Out loud he chose to be more diplomatic. Thank you... I'm proud of her. The Rebel with a few curt words then asked for help with the Barracks...
Yeah I'm on it... With that settled Jay gave a whistle to Azzuretta and ran to the garden between him and the barracks to find a good cover position to fire from. run: 1d20 ⇒ 18 Should be no problem there. Action 2
Would like to use pierce... and then spend an edge to up the damage by one for 6 damage total.
