That is correct! (except it's Derabar)

@ Ory, I like the mat you made. Good job. It looks very useful.

I thought I had the SW wounds system down then I found this last night:

Clint Black wrote:

Think of it like this. Toughness is the TN for a damage roll.

Target Not Shaken
Success - Shaken
Raise - 1 Wound and Shaken
2 Raises - 2 Wounds and Shaken
3 Raises - 3 Wounds and Shaken
And so on...
Target Shaken
Success - 1 Wound and remains Shaken
Raise - 1 Wound and remains Shaken
2 Raises - 2 Wounds and remains Shaken
3 Raises - 3 Wounds and remains Shaken
And so on...
That's really all there is to it. And yeah, the effect from a Success and a Raise on a Shaken target is the same, and that's intentional as it means a Shaken Wild Card is easier to wound, but not easier to severely wound when Shaken.

What threw me for a loop was, when shaken, a success and a success + raise had the same result.

I ran the Wizards & Warriors one shot with the pregens for my face to face group last weekend and they liked it alot. They had alot of fun RPing the backstories and hinderances from the pregens. :) Later that night they made characers for Sundered Skies. Yay!!!

Male Human

NICE!

Can't wait to see what you cook up for the Sundered Skies game. :)

Male Human

@ grufflehead/Varn: Yes I do have the free time if you would like to start-up a new campaign. I'm open to pretty much anything but would probably enjoy whatever you are the most passionate about, just let me know which books I will need.

D&D 3.5, 4E, Pathfinder and of course Savage Worlds are the systems I am familiar with and have books for, but I'm willing to learn/purchase new systems as well (assuming I don't have to purchase an entire library's worth) :) Savage Worlds is my most beloved system at the moment.

On a side note, have any of you see/heard of Deus Ex Human Revolution. It is a video game coming out in march and there is a 5 min director's cut trailer that has me spellbound. Here is a link to the trailer. **Warning Spoiler Alert** as is typical for a trailer.

Anyway the point of all that is, I desperately want to do a home-brew for it using Interface Zero as a base which I believe I could do with only minor tweaks. Although I wouldn't attempt to do this until after I've played through the video game and absorbed more of the game world, so It's still a ways off probably April at the earliest. Let me know what you think. [/end rant]

And last but not least.... Who wants to take up the Hellfrost mantle next... I have N2 The Dark Seed and could easily run that but there is nothing that would prevent us from picking that up later or even skipping it all together. Regardless of whomever goes next or whatever we decide (published material or not) I think we should come to a decision soon so as to allow time to prepare.

Thanks for listening. :)

Male Human

I too, would be comfortable rotating GM's (Chris you are doing a great job and I would love for you to have the opportunity to play Ferguth. I really appreciate you picking up the mantle and running with it. :) )

I agree, we have a great group here and I hope we can stick together as long as possible.

I have the core books, Players Guide, Bestiary and Gazetter as well as N1 and N2 but haven't picked up the Ecounters book or any of the Region Guides yet.

I like the idea of ditching the published stuff (although I'd happily play them as well) the only caveat being my map making skills are untested as of yet (I've always used dry-erase markers and 3d terrain in my face to face games and haven't run a PBP game yet) so I would probably end up borrowing alot from the Map-a-week archive at wizards and tweeking them a bit with Gimp.

Shortly I will be creating a new thread to carry on the game. Now that I have a GM profile, I'd like to really make it my game by changing the thread name :)

Sweet!

Male Human

I'm fine with you NPCing Ferguth, Chris but would shutter at the workload of running a char and DMing. I very much appreciate you picking up the DM mantle. ;)

Oryzarius, I think it would be great if your wife is interested in picking up Ferguth.

Also I must say I like the bennines rules, they seem a good match for the pbp format. Any ideas for handling advancement?

Male Human

Sad to see you go DM Torillan but I totally understand.

If you wanna keep it going Chris, then count me in :)

I love my char and the group dynamic... good stuff!

Male Human

If the dice roller gets to be too much of a pain we could use Invisible Castle, there was a player in another pbp I was in that used this site.

It's nice, you can do your rolls and compose your post with those results in notepad or simular, then make your post on the forums, it keeps the post troll from devouring your post only to find out he ate your natural 20 along with it. It also keeps a log of all your rolls, searchable by player name ect..

EDIT: Should I ever fall silent for more than two days during a period of active play, I hereby deputize Jason Collum / Rindilnir, my stalwart bodyguard, to post on my behalf. If he's unwilling or unable, Serin can take whatever action either grufflehead / Varn or Chris Manos / Ferguth decide. I will accept whatever actions are made for me in my absence.

Wow, thanks Ory, I'm honored (and probably blushing a bit) :)

I extend the same to you as well.

Rindilnir swears to keep Serin safe from wolves!

I will be going on vacation from Sept 21 - Oct 12 to visit my bro and sis. I should be able to post regularly during that time but it could be a bit spotty. My sis has standard internet access (no problem there) but my bro only has an iphone, he has a service plan that lets him use the iphone as a modem (I'll find out more about how that works when I get there).

I will have my laptop with me and I will be bouncing back and forth between the two houses (as they have different days off) so I don't foresee a period of absence longer than three days and that (absence) is only if the iphone doesn't work as expected.

On another note, I love your wind priest over on the Sundered Skies game. That should be a fun time.

Thanks, Oryzarius!

How awesome is it, that there are two excellent SW based games starting up just as I am discovering SW for myself?

SUPER AWESOME!!!

I feel blessed. Got a good group here (and over there it seems) :)

And, by the way, you don't have to leave; I'm just offering an out.

lol, thanks, it was the perfect "out" :)

Male Human

Yes you have it right, roll the skill/trait die and the wild die pick the better of the two then sum up the bonuses/penalties for your total.

For encumbrance I am going to place most of my stuff in a backpack, you can drop an item as a free action so I was planning on dropping the pack during combat although that could screw me if we need to flee mid-combat o.O

Male Human

Chris, gufflehead and Oryzarius, I love it! Excellent work everyone!

I am happy to be playing Rindilnir and the pairing of the characters is just fantastic IMHO!

I will swap out Track with Knowledge (Nature) since we have an excellent tracker and to give my char a bit more elven feel, plus it gives me more to do ouside of combat, besides growling and looking ugly at people :p

Rindilnir does have winter clothing (another thing I missed in the post) but no bow. I plan on borrowing one from the first hostile archer we meet. :)

I am so looking forward to playing with you fine folks.
Thank you, very much, DM Torillan for running this!

Whoops! Made a couple of mistakes in that last post (that what I get for posting while tired)

Prynciple Baedon ap-Thosa
Parry: 4 Toughness: 5 (These are the correct values)

Far to the north in the Shattered Moor on the shores of Frostwater Lake lies Far Reach and a small Convocation training center, where Baedon ap-Thosa Prynciple of the Convocation learned the secrets of Eir magic. Baedon has been sent by the Convocation, south to gather, find or join a group of determined individuals willing to (one day) return with him to strike out against the Hellfrost hordes.
(Should have read like this)

I'm glad your liking Hellfrost, gufflehead. It certainly grabbed my attention. :)

Prynciple Baedon ap-Thosa, Elementalist Eir

Hailing from Far Reach, Far to the north in the Shattered Moor on the shores of Frostwater Lake lies Far Reach and a small Convocation training center, where Baedon ap-Thosa Prynciple of the Convocation learned the secrets of Eir magic. Male Human

Wow... Well done Oryzarius!

Those are some very interesting PCs, they all look like they would be fun to play.

I really dig the Hrimwisard Hearth Knight! :)

I haven't got them stated yet but I'm looking at playing either a Hearth Elf - Bladedancer or an Anari - Eir Elementalist. I'll try to get them done and posted here tomorrow.

Male Human

Sounds good, I'll do the same.

Before we start can you give us a hint (or more!) about what we might be doing? Some of the organisational options looked most appropriate when tied to a location,

I second this. :)

I'd be very interested in trying tie my backstory to at least 1 other PC and having a good discussion amongst all the players to come up with a well though out group.

I'm down with the backstory collaboration, grufflehead. I like idea of group planning, with anyone willing.

grufflehead wrote:
I made the classic mistake in the recruit thread of just jumping in with both feet and saying what was uppermost in my mind, rather than ask the others what they would like to try. Sorry about that! Willing to try just about anything as there are indeed no shortage of interesting options.

No problems here! :)

Agreed, there are alot of interesting options.

Sweet! :)

I would be very interested in playing! :)

I just recently discovered Savage Worlds (end of June) and Hellfrost really grabbed my attention, since then I've picked up SWXE, Fantasy Companion, Hellfrost Players Guide, Hellfrost Bestiary and Hellfrost Gazetteer.

I've been planning on introducing/running some Hellfrost for my home group but my friend has dibbs on the next campaign which is set to go in a week or so.

This would be a great opportunity for me to see how SW plays before bringing to my home group.

I gotta be honest though I have read through the first 6 pages of N1 Lair of the Vermin Lord so I do know the plot of that adventure.
I'm willing to play dumb but if this is a conflict I understand regardless I will be watching to see how it all plays out :)

Male Human

Sorry Me'mori... I was going to have William follow Zaviera, then I saw those machine gun nests.... and I pissed my pants O.o

Male Human

Yes indeed, get well soon Reycied.

Well every time I read one of your posts, my "Scouter" explodes on the side of my head and I have to go get a new one. ;) The power level of your posts must be... oh say... I don't know... wait for it...

[epic scream]IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND!!![/epic scream]

DQ, you probably can't read this but... Take care and enjoy your vacation! :) See you when you get back.

Oh, Jason, I meant to ask...is William able to read the surface thoughts of others? Should we post the basics of what our characters are thinking when he stretches his mind out to meet theirs?

Technically/mechanically... he can't... not until about 8th level... at 4th level he will have some telelpathic abilites (Missive & Lesser Mindlink) I'm heading for the Telepath Advanced Class

Fluff-wise... yes (in as much as the DM will allow)... I couldn't use it to gain a stratigic advantage i.e. detect/read surface thoughts of enemies/NPCs or feel the presence of hidden people. Right now it's more of a psychic babble thing... indistinct more of a hindrance than a help.

I am acting like the Charismatic Hero talents are psionic in nature. The Coordinate talent which allows William to give a +1 to an ally's attack/skill, I am acting like that and future talents that effect allies causes the psychic hiccup thing... mostly William will just speak in unison with the other characters but if you are under the effect of one of Williams talents feel free to throw out some surface thoughts/emotions for me to use. :)

Male Human

If I was going to pick concept music for William it would be the Pink Floyd album A Momentary Lapse of Reason.

Male Human

Enjoying the illustrations Reycied. :)

The Protomen remind me of Queen a bit (in a good way).

Here are some tunes I've been listening to alot lately

Pushed to Far by Jerry Douglas Band

Dirty Side Down by Widespread Panic

Widespread Panic being my all time favorite band, enjoy!

Male Human

Good idea, and with VR should something go horribly wrong we won't have to defrost a new squad. :)

Male Human

sweet Billie Holiday and insane J-Rock?

Are you intentionally trying to trigger the apocalypse? LOL

Edit: I do like the pic though. ;)

Male Human

Thanks Alec, for the David Bowie "earwig" LOL grrrrr!

I'd like to get in on this if possible. :)

Hello old chum :)

I'd like to get in on this (would be my first pbpgame)

I was thinking of re-creating Ouda La Ley either Ranger or Barbarian
