About Jangral
A wise old dragon once wrote:
What is better - to be born good, or to overcome your evil nature through great effort?"
Jangral, Gnoll Paladin of Desna (Divine Hunter archetype) - outcast of his race and forever branded as a traitor to Gnoll-kind and their chosen Deity Lamashtu, the mother of monsters.
He was born under a powerful sign which distinguished him as one destined for great things. However, he was also possessed of an irrepressible wanderlust and freedom of spirit that inevitably ran him afoul of the cult of Lamashtu. When he came of age, he attempted a coup to oust the oppressive cult, and when that failed he was physically branded as a traitor and left for dead.
Jangral was rescued from his fate by wandering worshippers of Desna and, learning of Her value of personal freedom and Her hatred of Lamashtu, he dedicated himself to Her worship and began upon the path of a paladin - no easy task for a gnoll who had been raised to be utterly lazy, cruel and Evil.
He has struggled for years to master his inborn nature, wanting to prove that his kind are more than mere monsters. All the while he has dedicated himself to hunting down Lamashtu's followers, destroying their unholy clergy wherever he finds them, hoping that by liberating those who follow the mother of monsters from Her influence, they can be shown another, better way of living.
Still, Jangral is a very conflicted character, constantly treading a fine line in serving the "Greater Good", all the while carrying the memories of one born into a life of cruelty, debauchery and slavery. He has done all those things and worse in his time, and carries that burden with him as a constant reminder of how easy it is to be Evil, and how difficult it is to walk the path of Righteousness.
