Background:
James called the Big Apple home. As a teen he became involved in urban exploration and eagerly explored the hidden areas of Manhattan’s concrete jungle. He met up with a small group of like minded friends who started running with him and they formed a sort of clique dedicated to exploring some of New York's oldest buildings and forgotten wonders. James even started up a blog with his friend Trevor (a bit of a computer nerd, and a very good friend), recording their explorations and posting pictures, videos, and stories of their adventures. Curiosity led him to many interesting and risky adventures but none more dangerous than the time he were fourteen and trapped in an allegedly haunted abandoned warehouse. Despite not believing at first, he found that the place became supernaturally cold at night and his rest was plagued by bizarre nightmares that left him shaking. He came out relatively unscathed and with photographic evidence of a strange apparition that had woken him during the night. Sure that it was a ghost, his thirst for the supernatural was ignited. He added an entire section to the blog reporting urban legends (both supporting and debunking ones that they were able to explore) and supernatural oddities, though most of it is hazy photos and odd anecdotes rather than solid proof.

James applied to a number of colleges, but an intriguing article about the mysterious disappearance of a group of students from East Texas University put that college in his sights. He soon discovered more interesting leads online (fightingravens.com) and knew he had to have feet on the ground. East Texas is a totally different world than New York. His friends think he's a little crazy heading out to the middle of nowhere rather than picking a school in a city where he can get some good exploring in during his down time. Trever decided to stay in New York at New York State University and his other best friend, Blake, got a full ride to Carnegie Mellon and has taken to exploring the Pittsburg underground. James isn't worried about that. With luck though, he can put his nose for a good story to use and uncover Pinebox’s secrets.
