Nip grew up in a human city. His parents were the owners of a very popular tavern. As he grew up he knew very little about his own people. His parents talked very rarely about where they came from and seemed to prefer the company of humans. While growing up he was constantly referred to as Quarterman. The humans thought it funny and since his family was the only Halflings around he didn't really take it as an insult. As a teenager he knew he wanted to travel out into the world. His parents wanted him to stay and run the Tavern, but it was not for him. As soon as he hit 13 he left home and set out on the open road, his goal find more out about his people. It was a long journey, but when he finally found his people, he discovered it wasn't what he wanted after all. He needed to travel, see the world or worlds! That was when he received a vision. While walking upon a lonely stretch of road he saw off in the distant a swarm of Swallowtail Butterflies glowing in the light of the full moon. They seemed to beckon him forward, but he never seemed to reach them. When morning finally broke, he found himself at a roadside shrine to Desna. He had found his destiny.
