Jagen sighs at the minstrels protestations. ”And that is the essence of your crime. You were taken in by an obvious charlatan and spread falsehoods and discontent among the subjects of the Crown. It is amazing that you fail to comprehend the situation.” If everyone else is ready, let's drag this guy out and put him in the stocks (or whatever).
"A 'divine' figure walked away from you into the woods. And you believed in them? You are lying or spread subversion among the Queen's subjects with no regard for the truth. This is singularly unimpressive." Are there any civilians still filing out of the bar? Jagen would like to get witnesses to acknowledge this poppycock if he can.
Approaching Scarlet Crown, Jagen felt relieved at the new coin fattening his purse. He'd been badly short on funds following his return from Andoran, but his efforts in Haxxon's Ford had paid off handsomely. Relieved, but not surprised. Effort, done competently of course has its rewards. At the halfling's departure, Jagen hesitated for a moment. He didn't know the newcomers and was unsure of their status. Position was everything, and a false move made imprudently could stain him. It was only a fleeting thought, however. Though delivered by a butler, the Archbaron's orders were clear. It was also likely that their positions were similar to his own, given that the archbaron had grouped them together. Jagen is a young man, well into his twenties of about average height. His short dark hair isn't quite black and comes together in a severe widow's peak. His leather armor is weathered but in good condition, and he wears a sword and dagger on his belt. "Jagen Marvisian, at your service," he bowed to the others sharply. "I take it that your efforts in Longacre went well?"
In the recruitment I billed Jagen as a Court Bard, and I'm happy enough with that. It's probably worth taking a look at whether that is what the party needs though. The biggest implication is the loss of Inspire Courage for Satire, which is basically negative Inspire Courage. So we'll be a bit better defended than a party with a standard Bard, but somewhat less offensive. I'm guessing that's OK with the party makeup. Satire also is mind-affecting and language dependent, so it won't work on everything. We have an Investigator and a Wizard, so the loss of Bardic Knowledge seems unimportant. Jagen's skill set as currently envisioned is spy-like. Social Skills, sneaking skills & a focused subset of knowledge skills like history/local/nobility. I'm guessing all of that that works with this party, but I thought I should toss it up for review. |
