![]() To get things rolling on this segment of the creation. jade court (8,-8)
Raven (-10,-9)
p.s.
All vamps eat something, emotion, blood, flesh, I think the jade court should eat thoughts, memories, souls (depending on your point of view). This is the reason they are so unknown, they eat your memory of them! basically vamp version of the silence from doctor who...just thought id throw that suggestion out there. ![]()

![]() id say do balance of power/movers and shaker/whos in the know first, since we have so many potential baddies, and supernatural contenders. my first question would be who is running the hollywood side of things? Big crime? seems like a natural place for them, wana make money etc etc. Honestly I cant think of anything right now. ![]()

![]() I like em, but from the way you explained "that which lies beneath" id say we rename it to "Shiny on the outside", focusing on the theme of the city and less on the threats ie BBST. Other then that I like those three themes, I think they narrow down our thoughts and explain what vancouver is about pretty well. How about the threats? Id say "A Lullaby Above Sharpening Blades"- For the awakening of the BBST, and the growing tension and desperate arms race between the triumvirate of big baddys. "Crumbling throne"- For the failing political power of the ancient skinwalker, and the recent ambitious (perhaps nieve of BBST situation) advances of minor factions within the city. "Good by day, foul by night"- make this a threat, bad things come out to play at night, the BBST's power is felt most strongly at this time, the nights are getting worse, bloodier (bathed in blood scenario + that whole creepy foot thing). Should we nail down what the BBST is? Or just leave that for AlanM? ![]()

![]() omega9, love the threat name and second it. I like the idea of the weakening naagloshii, opens alot of doors for the future and history, make the naagloshii the coyote (darker dresdenified version) from native american lore? Trickster spirit thing, happened to trick BBST into a trap and has been stuck keeping it that way for a long time now, with help. Not sure I understand the new god concept james, its power comes from people watching movies? I like the triumvirate image though. And the hollywood guy being the voice of reason and good business makes sense, cant think what it could be though. Im kinda of the opinion that the jade court should be left to AlanM to flesh out, so we can all be surprised by what he comes up with. Mysterious and all that, not much currently possible to know about them besides they are one of the three bigs. So for triumvirate of keeping BBST down and ruling vancouver. old native boss- Naagloshii (coyote?)

![]() James, I like that idea alot. Sounds like a threat, hmm name it Sleep war (lol sounds cheesy please tell me someone has a more creative vocabulary then me)? referencing cold war, all sides building up forces and grudges but unwilling to break the peace out of fear of awakening the sleeping thingy? ![]()

![]() So sleeping entity seems to be a must. jade court a must. Who should be running things/keeping the sleeping entity down? I vote skinwalker with jade court being the primary (for a lack of a better word) threat against its hold on the city. call the threat "New problems" to reflect the skinwalkers deteriorating situation and the rising of the creature? Not trying to be pushy just wana nail something major down so we can flesh out these ideas. :) ![]()
![]() Had an...odd conversation today that gave me a character idea. Jack works as a crime scene cleaner for Aftermath Inc. He does this job, for the mula, the opportunity to find disgruntled spirits before they find him (surprise dead people visits can be obnoxious), and the disgusting yet necessary opportunity to snag...replacement parts. Its a part time gig, he doesn't take it seriously most of the time, and his boss hates him (has no qualms about the whole undead thing, needs employees) , but he is damn good at it, since he has no problems with corpses and such. ![]()

![]() james: I like the sleeping entity thing alot, im gona give into temptation here and suggest, how about sacrifice? Some group, the jade court or skinwalker guy has been sacrificing people or something to keep this power sleeping. Now someone wants to wake it up. Or now everyone knows about it and the jade court/skinwalker's actions. (yes this is ripping off cabin in the woods, but it was awesome right?) this could tie into the night time evil thing, sleeping creatures power is more potent or manifests itself at night. This draws unsavory types to the area. To nail something down though, I think we can all agree that the jade court is something we want to be in the city in some big way. ![]()

![]() hmm ill toss a threat out i suppose (never been good at city building stuff) Running off what omega9 said earlier about vancouver being a good place to live, Threat: Crumbling throne A skinwalker rules in vancouver, has for a rather long time. It rules through puppets, a sort of power behind the throne. unfortunetly that throne is crumbling. The growing jade court menace, ambition in the white court, Ghouls, a paranoid and desperate white council, red court attacks, mortal disobendience, seelie manipulations and other problems are beginning to undermine the ancient beings hold, a hold which while brutal, was efficent made things quiet and held back chaos. Not much is known about the skinwalker besides its existance (rumors now spread that there is no such creature a hoax to keep the super natural in line), it supposedly has many allies, enforcers, and agents placed methodically throughout the city. the creature only ever makes itself know to the leaders of the various major groups within vancouver, if it does at all. in short, fear is being replaced by ambition. ![]()
![]() Woot, Perfectly understandable that people would assume the worst of the undead freak, looking forward to it. I have been milling some concept ideas around concerning jack and his undeadness just wana throw them your way, make sure everything is kosher while we await city building. right now im thinking jack was a coal miner from Pennsylvania, born in 1907 started working the mines at 9 years old, he had 6 siblings, dad had gone and died in Europe the whole nine yards. He got good at lieing, lieing about his age, lieing about skipping out on state mandated school, mother became sickly, so he got good at stealing too. Eventually mom died kids got split up, jack was 17 by then he stuck around working the mines. Got married young and got good at making kids of his own. People liked him, used to say the prettest thing too ever come out of the mine was jack when his shift ended (was a handsome man), kind of a local celebrity, depression didn't effect him much, he had gotten good with his bosses. In fact in 1936 he became the boss and that night he died. No reason, no health problems, nothing...just kinda woke up dead. made for an interesting day, he quickly noticed he wasn't breathing, couldn't smell or taste right, even the way he felt things was off. His wife (being a rather religious woman) eventually concluded he was Satan and ended up shooting him, he ran off confused never bothered his family again, and has been living with his undeath ever since. He doesn't rot like a corpse, but he doesn't heal either. As best he can tell his senses arnt corroding, he does smell a bit deadish, its more of a musk really, he doesn't eat or breathe, also soul gazing has no effect and every magically inclined individual has informed him that he is indeed dead as a doornail. He hasn't had to replace anything major yet (like say an eyeball of which he is rather paranoid) and isn't sure if replacing something like that would work. extra skin/stitching/metal bone replacements for cuts, bullet, knife and broken bone wounds is rather common though, thankfully modern plastic surgery has helped...beautify his previous crude measures. His face is mostly intact above the neck, and he takes pains to cover himself, wears car air fresheners in his over sized clothes and mostly sticks to the shadows. ...wow that's longer then i intended, please lemme know if this over-sized background and undead mechanics work for you, totally willing to change if need be. ![]()
![]() Jack woke up dead one day, didn't do it to himself and has no history of evil or necromancy, in fact the whole undead condition is kind of a pain for him. He spends his days either helping fellow dead (he sees dead people) or trying to fix the wrongs of the world, he isn't sure if he is being punished for something and needs to repent, or if he is just a freak of nature. He has a natural talent for lieing but isn't a bad person, sarcastic and a bit cold in the compassion area sure, but nothing evil. If that's still a problem ill dust the cobwebs of Seil(Dionysus worshiping satyr) but id really like to try the living dead approach for the challenge of it and role playing a zombie guy who sees dead people, works with and for dead people, and is losing his grasp on life despite his best intentions, also I like sarcastic characters, and unwanted undeath seems like a good breeding ground for such a thing. Also worth mention is that he doesnt eat brains...or limbs...or anything actually, it gives him cramps... he is sensitive about the subject. ![]()
![]() ello hope I'm not too late to try and get in on this game. I have played the dresden rpg before on paizo and had a great experience. The character I'm currently working on is Jack barb, an undead sarcastic, devious man for hire, whose ghostly contacts and pessimistic world view should make for an interesting time. Im trying out the living dead template/concept/thingy for a bit of a challenge and hopefully something different. If this concept doesn't work for the setting or something let me know I got my old character Seil the dionysus worshiping saytr I could tweak if needs be. All the character stats/skills/powers are on his profile, depending on the refresh amount (8 or 10?) you pick I will be adding more to him for sure. |
