Appearance
Isila is a striking woman, with jet smooth hair, pale skin and a tall athletic body, or she once was. Scarred and disfigured on her left side, Isila has a horrific visage, a crooked artificial smile snears from her coiled left lip, her eyes void of colour, leaving only pools of white inhabited by a black island pupil. When her deformity is covered, by her specially designed helmet "Vanity" she is beautiful and commanding. Isila is duality, her right side is graceful, alluring, and exotic, her left side is monsterous, hideous, and intimidating. Isila takes painstaking measures to cover her deformity, and is very vain. She adornes her hair with white orchids, and has her jet locks hide her disformities. Many suitors have been horiffically surprised when she reveals her deformity, something that offends Isila greatly!

Background
Isila was not always cold and ruthless, in fact she worked hard to protect Bastion from the misjudgement of arcane spell casters. Fostered by a family in Bastion she stumbled upon a secret Cabal of unregistered spellcasters in her neighbourhood. A long time family friend a merchant named Mandilant was suscpected of wizardry.Isila knew he was guilty and refused to keep his secret hidden, she followed the man and exposed him to the authority of the Wee Jas Temple. While festering in jail Mandilant's hate blossomed and on his escape he sought Isila out and made her pay. An acidic orb of eldritch power was Mandilant's way of thanking Isla, and as the acid peeled away the flesh from Isila's face, it also peeled away parts of her psyche. Isila was beautiful, and some would say even vain about her appearance, this injury was too much for her and she filled with rage. She sought healing from Wee Jass, but the healing energies refused to work on her as her vanity was too foul to be overcome. Isla did find partial repreave with the temple of Hextor, the scourge of hell meshed her flesh back together save one area on her left cheek, this remains open today. Its wide gap is unsettleing and creates the appearance of an all too wide sinister smile. Isila's eyes also changed, she has lost the colour of her iris, and the pale white pool pierced with a speck of black pupil sears into those she looks at. Isila is a bit mad, crazed and obsessed with her tainted beauty, she harbours an intense hatred for arcane spell casters, even leading her to murder some in cold blood. Soon she fled Greyhawk a fugative and in a dream Hextor led her to Bastion to serve in his cathedrals. She is ambitious and looks to slay her way up the church's hiearchy, a fact that makes her favoured by her mighty god.

Monty's background

Spoiler:

Isila discovered and exposed an active cell of the Cabal, revealing them to the priests of Wee Jas. Mandilant was the leader of the cell and escaped capture, pursuing Isila to punish her for revealing her knowledge of the secret society. He then fled and is still alive, in hiding somewhere. After her accident, Isila went to the church of Wee Jas for healing magic and was turned away – mocked for her scarred face and denied treatment due to her inability to pay.

The church of Hextor offered to treat her scarring in exchange for a lifetime of service. She devoted herself to following Hextor, although the healing she received was subtly flawed and incomplete, resulting in her current disfigurement. Since then, her slightly maniacal devotion and ruthlessness has resulted in Isila’s rapid promotion through the church. In general, clerics progress through political machination and scheming – Isila’s preferred route to supremacy has been to be named an Ordained Champion of Hextor. A member of the Order of Tyrants. Such an event is rare, there are only thirty or forty current Champions – each considered outside the church hierarchy, serving Hextor directly and granted an enhanced, if slightly unorthodox, authority in that role.

Her current superior is Elbaron the Dark – a cloistered cleric with a web of agents and spies throughout Bastion, working on promoting his own cause within the church through political schemes and alliances. Although disdainful of the aging cleric, Isila recognises that he will provide a powerful ally for her in the future – even if ultimately he ends up her vassal, rather than the other way around. In the meantime, she works according to his directives – in order to be named an Ordained Champion, she needs to be nominated by a cleric of at least seventh level. If such a nomination is unopposed, she must then also endure a trial of knowledge, strength and pain.

She still has a little way to go before being ready to undertake that ordeal, nonetheless, Isila’s path has been progressing rapidly over the last few years and it will not be long before she is inducted into the order. In the meantime, she fulfils the orders of her superior biding her time before calling in the debt she feels he will owe her.
