Does Bardic Music affect outsiders as it would a creature from the material plane?

and if it doesn't, is there a feat that allows you to do it?

or perhaps I should create one.

I'm trying to make the ultimate bardic music bard. I plan on affecting everything our DM can through at us... I'm working on getting Green Ear, and I already have Requiem.

Just a question I discovered the other day during role-playing.

If you can do a trip attack with a whip,
and a scourge is a bladed, multi-tailed whip,
...can you trip with a scourge?

My husband and I made it legal in our homebrewed world. What do you guys think?

PS. Nothing in the description of a scourge in the Complete Warrior talks about trip attemtps. Perhaps in the Errata?

I have a halfling bard I want to turn into a Thrall of Malcanthet and go through the prestige class. I've talked with the DM about the requirements and my husband and I have just about everything worked through except this:

I can take the prestige class at lvl 20. One of the requirements is willingly receiving a kiss from a succubus, which causes a negative level. However, that puts me at lvl 19, which is the level I qualify to take the class. ... so ... how does one take the effect of a negative level, and within a respectable timeframe, regain the exp. to get back to lvl 20/lvl 1 thrall?

it may be just me... but it seems very confusing.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

First off, if you are a female gamer, by no means is this thread meant to be offensive. This is my personal opinion, and is meant to be voiced and not as an attack.
or, in otherwords, I'm exercising my 1st amendment rights.

I am a Female Gamer, and I am hetrosexual, and I support scantily clad females in gaming.

and now I'll tell you why.

I've been a gamer for most of my life. (I believe, it's been over 13 years). I started when I was young, about five or so. And scantily clad female archetypes were everywhere. My mother taught me long ago, that you show the world your own opinion of yourself by how you present yourself. At at that young age this is what I saw.

A female. Standing proud, confident and not caring about the societal norm. In most rpg settings, a conservative society abounds. These women threw their swords in the face of that society and said "Look at me! I'm strong, I'm beautiful, and I'm not going to hid it!"

At that young age, I saw those warrior women. and I wanted to be them!

I wanted to be confident. I wanted to be beautiful. I wanted to be respected as an equal combatant by the men in my 'party'. And yes. I wanted to cast magic and wield a sword like Boudecia.

Yes, men love scantily clad women. It's Nature!
Admit it women, you want to be in charge sometimes. You want to be the one wielding the sword! You want to be strong and confident, just like these women.

I don't believe this objectifies women. I believe this empowers women.

It did for me.

My "poisons" campaign is going great, but for this one instance.

The majority of the party is going to be land locked during the winter. It seems that the PCs are intending to take some down time to train up some feats and skills, level up and craft. However, I'd hate for them to get too bored, and I really hate the idea of skipping over the months.

A good bulk of the party seems to want to board with the dwarves under the mountain... so here's my question.. what, (excluding small war skirmishes and abberation cleansings) can a group of 12th lvl PCs (est.) do in the underground, close to the underdark in the middle of winter?

Any suggestions?

I want to start creating one of the optional villians in my campaign. I want to make some sort of draco lich or demon that's imprisioned.

Here's the problem.
I want him powerful enough for epic level PCs to have trouble with him, yet I want him contained fairly easily and neatly.

He needs to be imprisioned underground or in a seperate dimension with a seal of sorts. The seal also needs to be fairly vulnerable so that evil aligned characters (my villians) can break it open, therefore justifing the need for a seal guardian.

My co-conspiritor thought of the Imprisionment spell and putting him underground, but working through the magical rules for the actual process and the make up of the seal needs some hammering out.

Magic avaialbe includes:
true name, druidic, necromancy, psionics, and celestial.
Spell Compendium, Book of Vile Darkness, Complete (series), and Expanded Psionics.

suggestions on other methods of imprisionment are welcome!

Thanks for your time.

Alright, I've read the description for the Illusionary Script Spell and the description for Dispel. (those of you answering the need only look in the PHB for descriptions.) So, here's the problem/question.

One of my villians is sending a written message to a NPC-soon to be villian... using Illusionary script to hide the message. However, the party that plans on intercepting the scroll has a fairly powerful wizard that can cast dispel on the scroll...
..so..

if dispel magic essentially negates all magic on a targeted item, does the Illusionary script disappear for the duration? or is it destroyed like a mordikainen's disjuction? ....

... and in regardless to the script itself.. if an PC makes the save and can speak the language, are they able to read the script, or does the information stay secretive and the pc safe from the suggestion?

please answer quickly... this instant is coming up in our next two weekly gaming sections.

Okay,

Now I know that everyone's had this thought.

"That's a great class/prestige class, but the spell list too limited."
or "This is an older class, but these new spells fit the class perfectly."

So, here's my problem. I've built this caster with levels in Dread Necromancer out of the Heroes of Horror. He's been boosted with a Tome of Leadership (boosts Cha, fyi) and he wears a Belt of Magnificence. Personally, I think the Drd. Necro. class could greatly benefit from an upgrade. (namely the Spl Compendium and Complete Mage.)

So DMs, how would you deal with adding more spells to a pre-determined spell list?

My husband and I play a wide variety of campaign settings. One in particular has a bunch of Royal BodyGuards that like to train (spar) on a regular basis. Their training rules include that all weapons taken to the sparring cirlce are wooden (designed for non-lethal dmg).

We have a few characters that, even without enchanted weapons, deal a *bleep* load of dmg. So it got me wondering... how much lethal dmg can a PC take before they are dead?

The PHB's combat section says that once you take all your HP in nonlethal dmg, you become staggered....however, we didn't find anything that talkes about combining lethal and non lethal together.

..So... how does it add up?

I admit it. I have a habit of playing "random" characters.
...for example.. my gnome samurai...
anyways;

in a current campaign, my PC died (con dmg poison) and I made a back up at the spur of the moment. I came up with a Female, Raptoran BAR/CLR. Feats include: Pwr Attk, Cleave, Hover, Fly by attk, and Impr. Overrun.

I've read the rules on the Dive technique (included in the raptoran descriptions) and the Overrun manuever (PHB). I (successfully) dived an Orc Bard with a spear, but I would love to charge/dive from the air with my Great Axe. I'm not sure if there are any feats that govern that movement. However, my DM ruled that if I charge (fly) in a straight uninterrupted line, the charge and overrun rules would apply.

How would you handle the situation?

Hey there, I'm a new DM and I have my players doing contract jobs for the Temple of Talona (Faerun: poison/disease goddess) Basically, their contracts involve them finding the raw components or ingredients for poisons and in some cases, bringing a carcass or live animal back to the temple for extraction.

There's the backstory... here's my problem....

many d 20 ogl have good poisons, there some great ones in the DMG, however, the research I have done has not led me to the sources of these poisons.

For example: Bloodroot poison.
great poison, obviously comes from a plant... but which one?
I saw an entry for a likely canidate in the Fiend Folio... but I'm still not sure.

Anyways, does any one know of any ogl sources or is it mentioned somewhere in a book where these poisons come from?
(other than the obivious ones of course... no responses about carrion crawler and drow sleep poison.. thanks but I've already figured those out)

Any reponse or suggestions would be helpful.

Greetings all.

As you can see, my question involves a WoTC product and a rival d20 supplement. However, this is a question for the DMs out there.

For a campaign, I've created a Tantrist Paladin of Sune, with the vow of poverty feat out of the Book of Exalted Deeds. Now, my question is: If I meet all other requirements, can I still go through the Pierced Mystic prestige class out of the Book of Erotic Fantasy, use piercings that cost less than 1GP and not violate my Vow of Poverty? ... Or, Perhaps, would Tattooed Monk out of the Complete Series be a better choice?

Opinions ?
