That is one creepy looking beholder.

I want to hear your feedback and suggestions as players and dms.

Players have entered a fishing village. There is a jungle interior to explore, but first there is an adventure out on the ocean for them (got to make the seas a bit safer). Sahuaghin are getting antsy (fishy?) and looking for sacrifices to honour their slumbering sea god. The game is based off the adventure The Sunken Pyramid.

Players have got into this village, and are now resting. Now due to a certain few factors of the game, they can't actually wake up for a number of hours. During that time, during the night, the village will be attacked and some people dragged off to be future sacrifices. One player is asleep on the boat, and it is highly likely they will be taken. They won't wake up until almost at the Sahuaghin pyramid, or will wake up in chains, or something else could happen.

So, do I:

1) Have the player wake up while being kidnapped and dragged along at sea, and have to fight Sahuaghin, water cavalry (sharks) and escape (hard).
2) Wake up in chains and need to be rescued by the party, which gives them an incentive to rush there, but also means the trapped player is out of a few combats, and disempowered (uninvolved).
3) Wake up while being attacked in port, while being dragged away, so can fight free, but many of the villagers are not so lucky (easy).

This will certainly teach them to keep a watch, but this is the situation they will be in for the game on Friday. Thanks for any help and suggestions!
