"That sounds like a good plan to me. I'd like to take a look at this door by the mill first before we strike. That slave said there were others below. I'd imagine the way down is in the mountain side. Once weare sure most of the yakfolk are asleep we can investigate. I'll send Herm back to let the rest of you know if we got it open."

plan is to investigate the door at night. Try to find away down and get this party started. Objections?

Illuvin doesn't want to be rude. He'll eat some snacks and drink some beverages. "Don't mind my friends, they don't eat anything they haven't prepared themselves. Thank you for these gifts and your hospitality. Yours are a fascinating people.

When it's time to rest Illuvin makes sure the captain knows to be on guard. He summons Herm to take a look around.

With the warning of shapeshifters I'm looking for irregularities in lifestyle things on the sly. After a little chatting I'll ask about that large door in the cliff.

I cast tongues earlier so I can talk to them.

Illuvin eventually takes some nibbles of cheese letting the festivities get to him. He makes small talk about yalk folk life till they get to the grand hut.

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

Thumps, you, elain, melgrom, and I have been traveling companions for a while at this point. I figure you've used it with us before.

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

Illuvin almost misses a step when the reply mentions shifting skins and the three headed monsters. He taps his head as he turns to Thumps to indicate for him to use his telepathy. Illuvin relays the message to Thumps and tells him to spread the word to the rest of the group.

As gifts are given, Illuvin accepts them but doesn't taste anything.

Is the a knowledge I could roll to see if the odd language and the shapeshifting mean anything to me? That may be overly specific. Plan b is anything about shapeshifters that serve fire giants.

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

While departing the airship, Illuvin grabs hold of his lute, says a few arcain words and points at one of the naked halflings.

He leans in towards Elain and whispers but she hears nothing. The halfling though hears "Halfling, are you being forced to work here? Whisper your answer and I alone will hear you."

Hearing the yakfolk speaking a strange language, Illuvin casts his spell of understanding again. "Gentle people, thank you for these gifts! Come let us talk in a more comfortable place."

Assuming the halfling confirmed his suspicion, Illuvin hides his reaction and plays along for now.

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

So what is the plan? Are we going to find the leaders and ask them to see their water wheel/ elevator?

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"A bunch of naked halflings? Sounds like a party I attended once... Anyway, let's go see what's going on here."
If you were watching Illuvin's face during the description you would have seen his distaste upon hearing about apparent slaves.

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

Illuvin shakes his head from the sight of the shield disappearing. "Indeed, it seems our path lies before us. Shall we go pay this Duke Zalto a visit? Before we leave though, do we want to ask the oracle any more questions?"

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"Distasteful to be sure. Who would force a corpse's finger into it's own skull? Keep your eyes up Captain, there may be someone on the rim of the chasm!" Illuvin peers up at the opening to see if there are hints of others up there.

Seeing his words have no effect, Illuvin sighs and strums his lute weaving magic into the music. A flash of color appears over the warriors, diapering as fast as it showed up.

Illuvin maneuvers his floating disk beneath the massive shield. He then turns to the tribe, "I'm sure you all are not going to like this next part but we came here with a singular purpose and we will fulfill that purpose. Do not try to stop us. Your Great Worm has given us her blessing to take it and has informed us of your missing Noori. It would be a tragedy if we were to find her only for her to not have a tribe to return to. Let us take the relic and be on our way."

Illuvin turns back to his group, "Shall we cut this thing down then?"

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

A maiden runs from her former love gone mad for power? These are the things ballads are made of...
Illuvin replies to the voice "Thank you for the information honorable Elren. We will keep a lookout for the revived Wormblud and put it back in the ground. Unfortunately we are here on another errand. We need the holy relic of your clan to enable us to quell the madness that has afflicted the giants. If we find Noori in our travels we would gladly return her to your clan."

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"Re-kill Wormblud? I don't think we'll have any problems doing that. Though I think we're here for something else at the moment... He wouldn't happen to be around here is he?"

To his group, "I don't think a beating will be necessary. Lets just grab their 'most holy relic' and get out of here. You think it's that giant gong over there?"

Shouting to the warriors, "The great worm can know what he wants! You all just have to know we have the power to slaughter the lot of you if we choose to, and that we choose not to do so! Don't force our hand!"

After his warning, Illuvin strides confidently into the caves.

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

Good call on the illusion!

"Perhaps they are just in a bad mood today?" Illuvin shrugs. "These seem like the type of people that listen to strength. Let me see what I can do to change their attitude." He casts a spell before speaking again.

Cast Tongues to make sure nothing is lost in translation.

Shouting to the warriors, "Warriors of the Great Worm Tribe! I'm sure by now you've heard of the fate of your chieftain Wormblud. We are the ones who captured his war party. HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

Well if we have the time...I'll do Unseen Servant as well. The floating disk can be the table and the servant can pour the tea (wine)! Make it look impressive as we go meet our hosts. Or at least make us comfortable while we wait. Somebody want to cast tiny hut so we don't have to wait in the cold? This bard travels in style!

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"Before, they were trying to invade our friend's holy place. This time we are the invaders... I'm sure they'll be open to negotiation! Shall I go see what I can do? "

I'm not sure how long it would take the Arcane Eye to scout but could I have cast Tenser's Floating Disk as a ritual while we wait?

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"You could do that!? I never could get the hang of that spell. By all means, I'd rather not go in blind."

might as well agree in character.

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

Depending on how lenient Infinity is, the description says it would need to be placed on a non-magical weapon or armor. And speaking of armor, did anyone take the +2 Breastplate? That ends up being 16 +2 max dex for medium armor.

Illuvin starts making his way towards the cave entrance. "Jax, you seemed to know a lot about these mounds before. Anything we should know before entering?"

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"You know, I've heard of a pipe weed that if you smoke it has a similar effect but it's much more pleasant than getting knocked on the head by a giant. At least that's what I was told by people that have tried it... certainly not personal experience. "

Upon landing

Illuvin climbs nimbly down the ladder and takes a look around. "So ah, where do we go from here? Anyone see a cave or something?"

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

Before leaving, while the hunters are out hunting, Illuvin takes the time to cast identify from his ritual book on both the fire stone and the armor.

Once it's time to ride the ship.
Illuvin is all about building a rapport with the crew below decks. Whatever the task, he's up to it. Whether it's card games, singing songs, or playing music on his pipes or his lute. Not so much actual work though. He leaves that to those more... suited... to the task. Every couple hours he takes the time to cast Unseen Servant from his book as well just for the extra style. Whichever cabin he ends up sleeping in, he casts prestidigitation enough to make things smell nice and clean.

He's actually proficient in playing cards. He'll sometimes cheat in favor of someone who's been losing a lot.

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

Illuvin feels right at home exchanging small talk with the sailors. He perks up at them mention of Harpers but does his best not to show it. He does interrupt when the barbarians are mentioned. "We ran a few of this Great Worm tribesmen off from here when we first arrived. We should pay them a visit first I think. If they were able to walk here then it shouldn't take long to get there in that fancy ship of yours."

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

Imagine the stories people will tell!
Illuvin looks up in wonder before remembering to close his mouth. "Yeah, that pretty good I guess. It beats walking at least."

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

Int arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

"I've heard of magic armors resizing to fit their wearers. The only problem is that it may be cursed... we should probably identify the magic on the armor before someone tries to wear it. Didn't Harshnag say something about a ship having arrived? We'll be back to talk more later Eigeron." With that, Illuvin heads through the portal after Urth.

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"I believe the armor resists blunt attacks and the stone is similar to the ice rune we found but pertaining to fire. I'll hold onto it for now till I can cast my magics to confirm its uses. I think at the very least it will let you resist fire damage in the same way the Ise rune well let you resist cold."

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"He said he was of the great worm tribe."

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"We already took out one of the chieftains. Why not find that tribe? They are unstable and couldn't mount a resistance if we need to raid their burial mounds."

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

That's so much more work to dm though. We can go after the fire giants if that's who's been exposed to the party the most. I'd love to go after the cloud giants and try to talk our way through it but I think even I would get bored fast.

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"Oh... good point. Perhaps I'm over thinking things. It's just that these epic quests in the stories only have one special thing to find. It didn't occur to me that there could be more than one." Illuvin thinks for a second and says, "Do you think we could take you with us? I'd hate for your wisdom to be stuck here."

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"Do we want to use a question on who has the conch? The last question would be 'Where is it?'. We could just start with where and have another question to spare. Although you already did ask where... the oracle is being tricky. That is unless it can sense the thought behind the question. I'm glad you're doing the asking."

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"Hmmm, seems like Amman is shaking up giant society for fun and doing so with the blood of everyone else... You're doing great Urth!"

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"There ya go Urth! All bright and shiney for you. For once I'll admit I don't know everything and let someone else address the oracle. Urth seems to have a good grasp of the situation."

With a bow and a wink Illuvin gestures to Urth to enter the circle.

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

"I'll try this but if it doesn't work I'll need a torch to melt the frost." Illuvin begins casting a spell to 'clean' the ice off the runes.

If it helps, I don't care to hold onto it.

"Urth, you make a good point. Harshnag, do you want to try touching one of the runes in the main room? It may be the same situation as the huge boulder in the hallway. Unless we want to check out the tunnel made by the fire worm."

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

I believe either Pindleton or I do. I'm here so I'll say I took the time to cast identify.
As Illuvin finishes concentrating on the shard, he is quite giddy with excitement. "I don't think I've ever encountered something so powerful! There's a few things it can do." He then goes on to explain the abilities of the shard. "Does anyone want to hold on to this?"

Do we want one of the Frontline to hold on to this for fire resist and the ability to prebuff and some extra utility?

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

Grimacing at what he sees, Illuvin opts to not tell Melgrom about the heads. He does, however, pull out the ice shard and the cask of ale. "Anyone for some chilled libations? Haha, but seriously, why would someone leave behind a bag of their stuff? And has anyone seen one of these ice shards before?" He is still being jovial but some of his long time companions can tell it's forced.

"Pindleton,Thumps, one of you two may want to take a look in here."

Is that class-ist to assume the rogues might be ok with pulling gold teeth? Lol

HP:56/56 AC:16 Perc:+8 Init:+5 SAVES: Str-1, Dex +7, Con +2 Int +2 Wis +2 Cha +8 VHuman Bard (7)

I had a whole long post written up that got eaten by the boards... oh well.

"Wow! Well that was close, is everyone OK?" Seeing all the non-giants accounted for, Illuvin looks for Harshnag. As he comes stomping back up the hallway he breaths a sigh of relief. "Glad you are ok big guy!"
Does Harshnag have hit dice that he could use to get some HP back during the short rest earlier?

Int(arcana): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

At the sight of the stone automaton, Illuvin's eyes go wide with astonishment. "I've never seen such a thing! This handiwork of the giants is something else! Speaking of astonishing handiwork, I need to use a, ah, thing..." Illuvin unslings his pack and digs out a softly glowing pearl. He concentrates for a moment and the light drains out of the pearl and into his hand. "There, that's better. Now then, shall we see whats upstairs?"
