About Ilkorh
Ilkorh grew up in a village of dwarves who, for the most part, were craftsmen or fighters. Ilkorh's father, Algarth, was the head of the town guard, and he always dreamed that Ilkorh would take his place in that role when it came time for Algarth to step down.
So he trained Ilkorh as much as he could, but Ilkorh was not always focused. Algarth would often find Ilkorh climbing trees and sneaking around, sniping local market vendors' fruits and vegetables with his longbow. Algarth would chastise Ilkorh for this behavior, as dwarves look down on those who hide among the shadows, as Ilkorh was doing.
One night when Ilkorh was on a stealthy adventure, a local dwarven merchant, Valar, spotted Ilkorh and told him to come out of the shadows or he'd put a bolt through his skull. Ilkorh emerged from the shadows sheepishly, but was surprised to see Valar waving him over to his hut for a pint. Valar told him that Ilkorh's stealth and ranged weapon skills were pretty good, but not great. However, he noted that he could help Ilkorh improve his skills.
Valar recounted his life story, which included many years in a thieves’ guild in a large city in the South. Although he prefers his current law-abiding lifestyle, there are times when he misses the thrill of skulking about in the dark or masquerading as someone else to get through security, etc. He felt that by teaching Ilkorh some of what he knows that he could recapture some of those feelings.
Valar and Ilkorh spent a great deal of time together and grew very close. Algarth, however, was not pleased about this. He did some investigating into Valar and his past and discovered that Valar still had a warrant on him in the city where he was active in the thieves’ guild. Algarth reported him, and Valar was taken away.
Ilkorh was distraught. Algarth thought that this shock would deter Ilkorh from Valar's training and convince him to continue with his training as a guardsman. But Algarth was wrong. Ilkorh felt he no longer had a place in his town, and he left for the Pathfinder Society, so he could put his new skills to good use...
