Hyglak dismounts and leads his horse in, leaning to Helgash as he does so. He whispers, "Sorry about that, distracted a bit. Our charter says this is a trading post, would you greet someone so harshly if you were a merchant? The young lady, Svetlana, also appears to be missing a wedding ring. Something is off here, be friendly, but careful." He offers to take the reins from Helgash with his free hand, motioning as if to pretend that is what he is talking about.

Hyglak stands in the saddle to address Oleg, "I'm Hyglak of house Lebeda. This is my cousin Connel, that's Baelin of Orlovsky, Sirs Korren and Theodronis, and the fair one is Dame Annik. We are here at the bequest of the Swordlords to bring order to these lands. We require a base of operations and any assistance you can give, we will of course provide any aid we can in exchange."

Hyglak is unmoved by the woman's silence, between riding point and occassionally hunting for game while the wagon catches up he has little time to interact with one so silent. At night, while she spars, he watches. His eyes follow her movements closely, learning them carefully, he watches where she's weak, where she's strong, how well she guards her flanks. On the final night before the border fort he takes the opportunity to spar with her. The following morning he sees the fort and smiles, he drops back from where he has been riding point and joins his cousin.

Hyglak nods approval upon learning the nature of the ring, he slides it onto his right ring finger. "Appreciated." He mounts onto cover, gently using his claws to give the horse a pleasant massage on its neck and shoulders while he awaits the signal to ride.

Hyglak waves his hand over the ring and vial, his eyes taking on a deeper red for a moment. Detect Magic, spellcraft to identify at +6 After checking over the items Hyglak goes through his nightly routine and ensures his gear is ready to leave at a moments notice. In the morning he shaves for what may be the last time for a great while and goes through a basic routine of prayer and exercise. He then goes down to await his cousin and other companions outside, readying his horse as he does so.

"I think it may be best to avoid further confrontation until we are in a position of strength. I think it best we leave before them, if needed before dawn. If we have to leave in the dark I can guide us without issue, I inherited my mother's eyes." Hyglak gives a half smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes.

Perception 20 + 6 = 26 Aw yeah... Skill God :D
Hyglak smiles slightly, "Not everyone can have the hard jobs, and I am more than happy to quietly gain strength while others exhaust themselves in more difficult climates. Leave the Slough and the Uplands for those who wish to take chances with their lives. I am come down, bid by my brother and our lord holy Abadar, to bring civilization to the land, I do not have the luxury of taking extraordinary risk."

Hyglak emerges from the stable and mounts up on Cover. Cover is a older horse, but still strong and fast, covered in a charcoal black that contrasts sharply with the Brevoy winter. Hyglak mounts up, and rides alongside the wagon. "I will ride point, if you'll allow it master Xenos."

Hyglak comes down from his room mid way into the meal. He is freshly shaved and has dressed in his armor and traveling clothes. The smell of mint about him is mixed with that of olive oil. He has trimmed his claws and hair and affixed his holy symbol proudly on his shoulder. He eats a small meal and wraps the more stable left overs in an oil cloth. "I'll be preparing Cover for our journey, if you need me to put in for some supplies just tell me how much you need, within reason of course." He goes to the stable and starts prepping his horse for the journey. Cover is the horse, FYI

"We should discuss the issues of long term supplies, mounts, and our mutual capabilities. I would like to know what we may need more of." Hyglak produces a piece of chalk from a belt pouch and begins making notes in a fine hand, "I'm already mounted and can survive reasonably well from hunting and forage, my armaments are adequate, and have basic supplies for myself and my mount." He indicates his holy symbol, pinned to his chest, "I'm one of the faithful of Abadar and had acted as my brother's warden and marshal for many years. I'm decent with a sword and bow, and have a little skill with healing magic."

Connel: As far as physical appearance goes, yeah the red eyes and claws are something of a give away :)
I figure that Hyglak has been around long enough that most members of the family are aware of him even if they don't talk about it, the dirty secret that everyone knows. Despite being one of the branch houses him and Cob, especially Cob, are relatively well known thanks to being in their 70's. Hyglak's birth is probably a cautionary tale about marrying politically without properly vetting your future spouse.

"May Abadar guide us," Hyglak replies to Connel's invocation of the golden hand. The tiefling watches the heated exchange go back and forth quietly, like a card sharp counting the deck. He signs his name, to complete the legality, and exits into the winter air. He pulls on a pair of leather gloves that have been altered to accommodate his claws and dons a wide brimmed leather hat. "A rather complicated group we have here."

Hyglak glances over the scroll as the Lord Mayor speaks, having almost opened it already. When the Lord Mayor finishes, Hyglak gingerly opens the seal and reads the contents. As he reads a number of emotions play over his face, puzzlement, bemusement, and what might be described as faith. Half under his breath he voices his thoughts, "My, my, what have you gotten me into Cob?" Hyglak's eyes drift to Connel, "Or should I say us, cousin?"
Getting things formated, the acid thing was a cut and paste error. Good catch on the points, put the spare point in Cha, that might come in handy later. As far as which feat to go with I'm leaning toward skill god, skill domination is pretty tempting though. I have a way I like to lay out stats in my aliases so I'll have different spoilers for them when I'm done, just tell me which you prefer. |
