Hello all I am looking for one new or kinda new Pathfinder player to join my friend and I in taking on the module Master of the Fallen Fortress. We had one guy drop and I do not want to saddle my buddy with playing more than two characters. We have a level 1 Half Orc Druid level 1 Fighter (who had a mini adventure already and has about 300 xp) We are both starting out on Pathfinder but I have put together a forum where he and I discuss the game and run a play by post adventure. Please no rules lawyers or the like as we are just getting started. You must be able to make at least one or two posts a day and love to explore and type away in character. If interested, please see my message boards at The War Realm Pathfinder Adventures and sign up for an account at which time the forums will be visible. We only need one outgoing, fun responsible person to join us. There are a few things about this sessions I am trying out. While it is not a Pathfinder society game, I do like the faction idea. So what we have done is allow you to pick a faction and a faction trait and I will be giving faction points so you can level that up. Also I am allowing Two TRAITS from the downloadable PDF character traits sheet (in the advanced players guide also). If you have any questions email me at war.realmer@gmail.com
Hello all I am a new player as of GenCon 2010 but not new to D&D. However the last time I played the D&D books were black and I think it was second edition or something Anyway my friend and I are playing a PLAY BY POST game since he lives in Florida, and I am wondering is this sequences seems proper. This is a straight cut and paste from the message boards I setup to play the game on: =====================
They have been responsible for raiding nearby villages and it is time to take out the kobold clan sentries and send them a message These two kobolds are clearly not paying attention. One has a SMALL Handaxe: KOBOLD1 He has his back to you, his axe tucked in his waist belt Handaxe 1d4 (crit: x3) — 3 lbs. S The other, thusly dubbed KOBOLD2, has a light crossbow and a dagger and is busy toasting something in the fire pit and has his crossbow slung Crossbow, light 1d6 19–20/x2 80 ft.
These Kobold sentries are a joke and you have SURPRISE You are about 40 ft away from KOBOLD1 ============================================
OOC: I am using the surprise round as a double move action to run to Kobold1. That should give me 2x movement speed and put me into melee range with Kobold1. I have rolled initiative for the combat round as well right after this. Initiative roll:12 + 1 (Dex) = 13 [Total]
============================================= GM: You move about 35 feet rapidly and flank the Kobold with an axe. They are caught flat footed the first round of full combat. Surprised, they almost seem astonished that someone had ventured this deep into the moors to take on one of their outposts. OOC: Initiative Kobold One 1d20 [16] = (15 +1 due to size) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2647585/ Kobold Two 1d20 [12] = (11 + 1 due to size) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2647586/ ANCILE: 13 INITIATIVE FOR ROUND ONE KOBOLD ONE ANCILE KOBOLD TWO "HsssSS CriiiiTCH AA!" Snorts the first kobold with the axe, as he turns to face you and hastily swings in a wild motion. His companion, still aghast that you have even appeared seems to be fumbling with dropping his crossbow and possibly drawing a hidden weapon. OOC: The kobold has -1 to hit due to STR, but +1 due to Small Size. he turns and negates your flanking bonus as well. KOBOLD ATTACK (with hand axe): LOL! 1d20 [1] = (1) http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2647589 In a wildly spectacular manner, and no doubt because he was so scared, the axe flies from the Kobolds hand after he completely misses your head and soars off into the nearby bushes. He stops and looks at you as his expression sinks into one of total fear. ================================================
Ancile smiles. He was right about Death! "The time is yours Cur!" He shouts. Years of his life had been dedicated to this one motion. His sword arm raised into the air and came cutting down through it, right at the kobolds head. Attack Roll 1d20 [18] = (18) +4 (Str) [22]
Damage Roll 1d8 → [5] = (5) +4 (Str) [9]
The blow you strike is so massive that parts of the Kobolds spine are exposed as you cleave him in two. He goes down in a shower of guts and sinew shrieking to the top of his lungs, crying out in his native Draconic tongue. OOC: He had 5 hit points. Owned The second Kobold, upon seeing his dead comrade, mutters another sentence in Draconic and pulls a bolt out from his belt. His red beady eyes know no fear surprisingly as he is full of vengeance. He loads his light crossbow, takes aim and fires a round at you! OOC: Loading is his move, firing is his standard action. ROLL: +1 due to size, +1 due to DEX = 1d20 [19] = (19) +2 TOTAL: 21 http://invisiblecastle.com/roller/view/2647669/ This is a CRIT. The CRIT was not confirmed and he only did 6 points of damage. CRIT confirm roll failed 1d20 [15] = (15)+2 = 17 Damage:
The bolt sinks solidly into your armor, and you feel the dreadful warm oozing of blood as you realize his shot, while lucky, managed to find a chink in your defenses. ROUND TWO ANCILE KOBOLD TWO
Say the character had a chance to flank attack, but could only double move that turn to get to his target, who was then next in initiative order The target did have the PC to his side, but wants to just turn and strike. Does that cost a move action to turn or do you just do it and roll for the strike?

I was wondering. If people do PLAY BY POST for example, what map making software they use to represent where the characters and monsters are on a forum and how they go about doing that? I understand there are a lot of Virtual Tables, but in Play by Post say on a really basic forum (my friend and I are BRAND new to Pathfinder and trying to learn it.) what would people use to show where creatures and players are? How would make a map that at least LOOKS like where you are in the world? (for example if I put him in a swamp etc etc) Any software that can let me build a fast map that maybe has grid coordinates on it? Thanks all
Is there a section of the site for free Pathfinder supplements like character sheets and things like that? I picked up the core rulebook and the players guide at Gencon this weekend and was wondering what tools are offered on the web but cannot make heads or tails of where to look on the actual site. I think I am blind. Also are the 10 dollar PDF's the full version of the hardcovers? Because I sure could use that Bestiary but have no local gamestores close by. Thanks |
