Background:

If she can be said to have grown up anywhere, then Holly was raised on the roads of Varisia, travelling from one town to the next with the caravans of tinkers, traders and thieves whom regularly wander across that thinly populated region. Like all travelers she was taught to revere Desna, goddess of freedom and luck, and in return it appeared that the Starsong favored Holly as one of the relatively rare halflings able to actively influence the fortune of others, making her a jinx. Although she has had little formal education, the halfling girl has become a priestess of the Starsong in her own fashion, expanding her travels farther and farther afield. In the last year she has taken ship from Magnimar with the intention of exploring the Mwangi Expanse, stopping in at Korvosa, Ilizamagorti and other ports en route. Most recently she made landfall in Port Peril, the notorious pirate capital of The Shackles, but for once her luck and usual good judgement deserted Holly, and she made the mistake of drinking at The Formidably Maid last night...
