Female Halfling Druid 2
We'll definitely miss you, but I can hardly lay blame!
Female Halfling Druid 2
Does Hetta know anyone? K: Local (1d20 5=18) If not, she'll be glad to take Furry to the lodge.
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta looks to Greylan and says seriously, "Yes, we need to keep feeding -- 'Furry'? -- that's its main need right now. But they can't be kept as pets or companions, they're just too dangerous. There are people who buy cubs to train as guard animals. That may be the safest path for all, as owlbears in the wild are too much of a threat to hunters and trappers."
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta commands Hugh to heel. Crouching by the owlbear cub, she tries to recall what she knows of the creatures.
"We still don't know what killed them."

(1d20 10=12) Not much, it seems
Greylan Mooneye wrote: Ooops, guess I was wrong, Pat! You were right -- I just won't make any promises on availability this weekend
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta gestures at the corner whence the owlbear had come, and whispers, "Something's still back there."
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta approaches the body with Hugh guarding her. "She was already wounded -- what else is around here?"

"The Red Death," Hetta whispers. "That poor boy."
True Vigileon wrote: Then she starts on towards the ruined farmhouse, "coming?" "Yes, but be careful -- I think somebody's in there." Hetta alerts Hugh, as well, as they follow True.
Female Halfling Druid 2
Even though Hetta had endorsed helping the boy, she seems quite uncomfortable with the idea of the ongoing conversation and stays quiet.
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta, looking pale, says softly, "We should help him."

Greylan Mooneye wrote: Have we rested since the horrible cold? Yes, we did, and it was nonlethal damage so heals quickly (though you remind me I was going to look for cold spells, so Hetta might not have today's mix updated yet).
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta cranes her neck, peering about the room from the safe floor.
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta swallows. "I'm not sure I can make it across there. Is that where we're going?"
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta is happy to light Greylan's arrow.

True Vigileon wrote: True keeps close to the wolf, Hugh is a Riding Dog, actually
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta is too concerned about having to leave Hugh behind with True to be much aware of what is up above.

Kallista Nonborn wrote: After their heart to heart, Kallista wanders back to the group and gently kneels beside Hetta and Hugh.
"Can I take you up on your offer and borrow a bit of Hugh for warmth? It's OK. I'm not a self-pitying mess anymore."
Hetta smiles with genuine joy. "Of course, Kallista. He's big enough for both of us."

True Vigileon wrote: "I'm more concerned with healing people. In winter people can lose limbs and die from the cold. Should we be doing more? The moss can wait."
True puts her mind to half remembered stories of the border forts to the north of Cormyr but comes up blank.
"Maybe hot drinks and bed rolls would be for the best..." she murmurs.
"Yes, good idea. I feel as though I'm starting to warm up a bit already. Thanks to you," Hetta adds with a blush. "If we start some hot drinks maybe the others will come back.
"Greylan, how are you feeling?"
Female Halfling Druid 2
True Vigileon wrote: True settles down next to Hetta and the wolf, letting the warmth spread through her.
"They do not seem badly hurt, maybe they just need time to thaw? What do you think?"
"I don't know," says Hetta softly, without meeting True's eyes. "Kallista blames herself, but we all thought it was a good idea. I'll have to see if I can think of some way to freeze it after we've rested."
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta looks troubled at Kallista's response, but is too drained to pursue the issue after Kallista walks away.
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta looks over at Kallista, looking concerned. "Kallista, come with us. You need to warm up, too," she says gently. "Hugh won't mind."
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta sits by where True is making the fire, clinging to the whimpering Hugh.
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta gasps and starts shivering uncontrollably as she stumbles away from the stuff, pulling a whining, shivering Hugh.

Hetta and Hugh chase after the wizard. "Greylan, wait!"

Hetta and Hugh bring up the rear once more.

Mikel Cormaeril wrote: Mikel spent much of the time puffing out his cheeks and being bored. In between those moments he practised swordplay and made fun of the others (except Hetta, she's ok by him). Good thing. She'd probably cry.
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta attempts to use her knowledge of the natural world and living things to speed True's recovery, but her lack of training reveals itself.

Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta wakes up feeling much better, but is in no hurry to move on until after True recovers.
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta unloads her camp gear from Hugh's saddlebags and beds down early, soon after eating. "Let me know if there's anything I can help with," she offers, yawning.
Female Halfling Druid 2
"Well, at least no monsters . . ." Hetta offers feebly. She takes Hugh around the property to see if he reacts to any strange smells.
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta leads Hugh to the cylinder, ready to ascend.

Kallista Nonborn wrote: "Hetta, can you walk or shall I carry you? Hugh can carry the Lady's weapons perhaps." "Thank you, Kallista, but I don't think I breathed in as much as True did. I'll be ok to get out of this place."

Kallista Nonborn wrote: Kallista gazes at the halfling in admiration.
"First an octopus and now a flame. How on earth do you do that Hetta?"
"I'm not sure, Kallista. There are a few things I know I can do, like the wolf-shape and a little healing. Most of the time, though, I just hope for something that will help."
Female Halfling Druid 2
The second flame winks out in Hetta's hands. "I've never done that before," she whispers.
Female Halfling Druid 2
If the thing still seems a significant threat on Hetta's turn:
Hetta chants briefly and a small, bright globe of flame appears between her hands, seemingly without harming her. She looks for an opportunity and makes a throwing motion, hurling the flames at the creature.
The moment they extinguish against it, another torchflame appears in her hand.

Hetta shrieks, and her hand goes to Hugh's harness.
Female Halfling Druid 2
"No -- eyes behind the statue! I saw them!" Hetta lifts herself to her feet and calls Hugh to her.
Female Halfling Druid 2
Hetta, sitting leaning against the wall, suddenly gasps and points at one of the statues. "Look! Eyes!"

Shouldn't that be +3? Still good enough.

Greylan Mooneye wrote: And dear Hetta, you once mentioned your ability to transform yourself into a wolf. We all know, from our experience above, the ferocity and strength of those critters. Is it possible that transforming into a wolf would lend you some of it's strength, to help us push this over?"
Greylan moves over to the block and starts heaving on it. He lets out a giant groan and turns red in the face. "Hetta....maybe...this....is....weird", Greylan says, huffing, "but...can...Hugh....help?"
"Hugh's stronger than I am, even as a wolf. Let me try to get him to help."
