Righteous Infiltration (Ex): You use your Wisdom modifier instead of your Charisma modifier when making Bluff and Intimidate checks.

Blessed Infiltration (Ex): At 4th level, when you make a Bluff, Diplomacy, or Stealth check, you may roll twice and take the more favorable result. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to your Wisdom bonus.

Word of Anathema (Sp): At 8th level, once per day, you can speak a word of anathema against a single creature within 60 feet (Will negates). This acts as bestow curse and lasts for 1 minute, giving the target a –4 penalty on attack rolls, saves, ability checks, and skill checks.

Drawbacks
Xenophobic: You take a –2 penalty on Diplomacy and Sense Motive checks made against creatures of a different race or from a different culture.
Burned: you take a –1 penalty on saving throws against fire effects.

In addition, whenever you are adjacent to open flames or are on fire, you take a –1 penalty on all attack rolls, saving throws, and skill checks until you spend an entire round away from fire. These penalties are not cumulative. (An instantaneous fire effect adjacent to you or affecting you causes this penalty to apply until 1 round after it is gone.)

Physical Description:

Perpetually wearing a stern grimace, Heimrich is just short of 6 feet. His thin frame and wiry muscles are covered from foot to jaw in blue inquisitorial robes, although the white and gold trim indicates his faith to Iomedae. His long neck is covered in a thick ecclesiastical collar to hide the burn scars that run from just below his jaw all the way down the left side of his body. His ashy blonde hair is pulled taut into a topknot and his face is always clean-shaven. Given his 43 years, Heimrich's face is beginning to show signs of ageing: crows' feet stretch from the corners of his eyes and wrinkles are forming above his brow.

Backstory (full):

Heimrich Haake was born the eldest of 9 children, the son of a merchant and an heiress of lesser nobility. Whilst he was born in Kenabres he spent most of his childhood travelling with his father as he established trading networks. Much of this trade provided resources for reconstruction after the 3rd crusade against the Worldwound, and so Heimrich was constantly surrounded by stories of adventure and bravery in the past crusades. However, by the time his youngest sister Ephalia was born, Heimrich was already re-settled in Kenabres to help his mother. Whilst Heimrich still dreamed of glory he had given up his hopes of training as a soldier to instead care for his siblings.

One night, Heimrich awoke to a piercing scream. He ran from his room towards his sibling’s room, but only horror awaited him. Almost all of his siblings lay dead in their beds, with horrid gashes covering their bodies. Worst of all though was Ephalia wailing in her cot, both her eyes torn from her head. Before Heimrich could even process this, he was confronted with the cacophony of a door broken from its hinges. Momentarily a group of robed guards set upon him, their blows quickly knocking him unconscious. When he awake, Heimrich found himself tied to a huge stake above a large pyre.

The crowd that stood before him brandished torches and pitchforks, but were listening intently to the words of the tall man before them. His blazing white and gold tabard indicated him a paladin of Iomedae. “… and so again the daemons of the Wound encroach on the good order our Lady provides us. Insidious, treacherous, ruinous: the workings of the witch amongst us! This man – whom we have known for years - murdered his parents, his siblings and mutilated a newborn child… but for what? To fulfill some infernal pact that surely would have wrought disaster upon those of us who have trusted him!” At this the entranced crowd became restless and began yelling and jeering for his death. “We need hear no more… this witch shall face the wrath of our fire, and then the wrath of Iomedae in the life to come!” At this the first torch was thrown. Heimrich protested his innocence at the top of his lungs, but no one in the crowd seemed to care. The flames grew and slowly licked up the side of his body, pain so unimaginable that Heimrich could barely breath. Just when he was certain that the release of death would take him, Heimrech’s world tilted sharply sideways and rough hands grabbed him. The smell of his own flesh filled his nostrils as Heimrich again fell into unconsciousness.

------ ------- -------- ------- -------- -------- -------- ---------

Although Heimrich’s life was spared, it was also forever ruined. Acquitted of his actions when another identical murder happened at the same time, Heimrich was left without his family or friends and with horrific burns to most of his body. For the next few months, both he and Ephalia were taken in and cared for by the church of Iomedae. Despite his innocence, most of the people he had known previous still treated Heimrich with suspicion and disgust. Limited to bed, Heimrich began reading the histories of Hulrun Shappok, the famed Inquisitor and witch hunter. To his surprise and horror, Heimrich also found an ancient tome marking the death of seven siblings and the eyes of the eight as ingredients in powerful divination magic. As a focus for the divination, the eyes remained in tact as long as their owner lived. The tome even rumored that the eyes could be returned.

His youthful wanderlust reformed and solidified into a burning passion: he would find whatever hellish monsters had so scarred Ephalia, and return her sight. If he could inflict his own pain on the culprit tenfold, all the better. Devoting the next few years to training, Heimrich quickly excelled as a witch hunter before setting forth to find any trace of the witch he so desired.

A few weeks ago, Heimrich received a missive from a church contact near the Irrisen border stating a coven of witches had stolen a child from the area. Heimrich set forth straight away, and has since tracked the coven towards Heldren.

Backstory (key points):

Personality: Heimrich is a meticulously planner, and hates doing anything without first considering his options. That being said, he is quick to run to action if he thinks it will get him closer to his goals, or if someone is in danger. His grim outlook on life often leads him to be harsh in criticism or negotiation, and his demeanour is often mistake for aloof condescension. In particular, Haake is cautious of new people and especially of anyone who could appear to have links to witchcraft (which is sometimes any non-human, non-mendevian he comes in contact with). Despite this, Heimrich is a genuinely caring person, and once you've made a friend of him he will be a friend for life.
Why is Heimrich in Heldren: Heimrich is hunting a coven of witches that has headed into the mountains.
Profession: Heimrich is an inquisitor of the church of Iomedae. Taking after the legacy of Hulrun, he travels seeking out corruption and heresy in the church, as well as witchcraft that damage society. To make ends meet, Heimrich often resorts to lending his skills as a hunter and tracker.
Short-term goal: As mentioned above, Heimrich's short term goal is to find the coven that he had been following and exterminate them with extreme prejudice.
Long-term goal: Find the hag/witch/whatever who took Ephalia's eyes, and find a way to restore her sight.
Living person I love: Ephalia, half-sister (17 years younger). Despite her horrible scarification, Ephalia has grown into a warm, compassionate and caring young woman. An oracle of Iomedae, Ephalia loves her brother more than anything. She constantly laments his drive for revenge, and wishes he would spend time settling down and rebuilding his life instead of living in the past. She currently travels in mendev providing healing to those who have returned from the 4th Crusade.
Fear: Fire. Ever since the fire that killed his family and horribly scarred Heimrich, he has been unable to be near fire. He won't carry torches, or any implement that could be used to make fire, even accidentally.
