About Hannah JarvisHannah Jarvis's Character Sheet Conditionals:
+20 Disguise to not appear as Alter Ego.
Always receive a perception check against secret doors. When making a withdraw action, the first two squares do not provoke attacks of opportunity. Appearance: The Lady: Hannah Jarvis is tall for a human woman, and on the heavier end of the spectrum, long-limbed with lithe, strong musculature. On any given day, she usually wears her bright red hair in one of many different styles, but almost always kept up in something simple. Her features are rounded and soft, save for her angular nose. Her eyes are brown, and her face is almost always adorned in simple makeup. She dresses in one of many outfits, though her typical clothing favors emerald greens, accented in gold and black. She has several different scarves of varying color and length, some of which are more sturdy than one would suspect, while others hold her valuables. The sweeping scarves draw attention to her outer features, but also to her waist, which almost always bears one of her scarves. Hannah is no stranger to dresses (more like combat skirts), feeling honestly more at home with more space for her legs to move freely and uncontained. Hannah's right arm bears half a dozen bangles of bronze with emerald stones, while her left ring finger bears a platinum signet ring with a stylized J. Her hair typically hangs down to the space between her shoulder blades, framing her face with more gentle sweeping curves. Full lips hold back an unusually deep voice. Dimples accompany laugh lines to show that she's far removed from 'all-business', while calloused hands show the work she's put into both her self-defense and her own brand of artistry. The Lancer: The woman falsely known as Jackdaw, who may one day be known as the Stone Raven, or perhaps even a Silver Raven shares a startlingly similar build with the noblewoman Hannah Jarvis... though few are quite able to connect the dots - something for which both are grateful. Charcoal powder is used to darken her hair to shades between auburn and black, while a beautiful gala mask - strikingly similar to a plague doctor's mask - conceals her face. Scarves that had previously held her ensemble together are now reversed to become obviously pocketed like a bandoleer, or to show silver chains overtop scarves at her shoulders and waist, wrapped once or twice, but left to dangle. If forced to change while out and about, on the fly, the Stone Raven will typically simply opt to make her current outfit more revealing, in order to draw away from her more memorable (or at least, more commonly seen in public) features. If she has her way, however, she'll typically dress in something more exotic, typically one of her dancing dresses. Once the Stone Raven becomes more capable with her geomancy, forming a shale gray layer of stone over portions of her body, and coating her clothing in the same - eventually replacing the whole ensemble with silver, will make the disguise just that much more capable. 10-Minute-Background
Step 1: Write 5 background and concept elements that you feel are important to your image of the character. These can be a concept overview, a list of important life events, a physical description, a personality profile...whatever you need to get an image in your mind. 5 is just a minimum...more elements are encouraged! Hannah's alter ego has been confused for 'Jackdaw' at least once. The raven hair, combined with the silver-gray markings definitively mark her as a Coloeus Corvid. She hasn't done anything to dissuade this notion. Hannah has a rebellious streak. She's significantly more likely to do something simply because she was told she wasn't allowed, or due to being told not to. This is a trait that her mother has actively encouraged, and a trait that the young woman is quite proud of. Hannah is intensely snobbish when it comes to food and drink. While she won't necessarily decline a meal simply because it isn't to her tastes, she definitely has a refined palate. Beyond her ability to pick out the obvious (what sort of meats, grains, and several spices), she has a particular interest in fine drinks of the alcoholic variety, as well as exotic teas. If anything were to happen to Lily, Hannah would almost assuredly blame herself. Lily was living a simple, quiet life helping people, before Hannah got hold of her and filled her head with the endless possibilities of freedom. That being said, she also wouldn't forgive the person more directly responsible. Beyond her training as an architect and engineer, as well as her grooming as a noblewoman, Hannah has spent a significant amount of time studying ballet, which not only lends her her unusual physique, but also has saved her on more than one occasion in which her trained grace, or her affinity for quick changes has been the difference between fight, flight, and floored. Step 2: List at least two goals for the character. At least one of these goals should be one that the character has, while another should be one that you, as a player, want to see developed over the course of the game. Hannah would very much like to finish what she had intended to start with taking Lily to the Opera House... and intends to see their tickets honored. This begins with seeing Thrune ousted from the Opera House or finding Shensen... whichever comes first. Hannah would like to play a major role - at least someday - in renovating a home for her allied rebels, preferably with a significant change to make the area more 'theirs' than something they just moved into. Hannah would love to see the old unused temple of Aroden ( The Humbright House ) returned to being an orphanage for the unfortunate youth, as it had been in recent years. In particularly, she would like to see it become a temple to the Drunken God that also happens to be an orphanage. ( Safe House? Please? ) Step 3: List at least two secrets about your character. One is a secret the character knows, one is a secret that involves him but that he is not actually aware of yet. This will help me in creating plots that center around your character. I will also be creating a third secret which you as a player will not be aware of, so expect some surprises! [ Known ] Hannah carries a second Jarvis Signet ring, this one with a diamond inset within the J. While she only barely knew Lily at the time, she's an exceptionally passionate youth - prone to mistakes, and easily able to jump into things head-over-heels. While not all of their passions are shared, she had intended to propose to Lily during the intermission of the Huntress of Heroes - a whirlwind romance if ever there was one. [ Unknown ] Hannah is adopted. Her 'Mother', the Baroness Belcara adopted the young girl from Varisia some 14 years ago. There had been a rather nasty incident in a backwater town in western Varisia, the normally more-docile goblins of the local area attacked the town, slaughtering several, two of which were Hannah's real parents. As a worshiper of Cayden, Belcara stopped back in Kintargo long enough to drop off 'the daughter she had while adventuring'. Primarily raised by her grandparents until recent years, Hannah has never had any reason to doubt her lineage. [ Unknown ] Hannah's alter ego has been the target of a private investigator hired by the current regime. For good or ill, that may well catch up to her, or may result in a new ally. Step 4: Describe at least three people that are tied to the character. Two of them are friendly to the character, one is hostile. If you like, you can include an enemy of yours here as well, so I have an instant NPC nemesis to throw at you. Lily Sable - Romantic - Lily Sable is an active worshiper at Songbird Hall, and an incredibly beautiful person, inside and out. While it would be unfair to say that Hannah has never felt about another the way that she feels about Lily, Lily is her current raison d'être. Sweeping Lily up and pulling her into a fast-paced life has been one of the highlights of Hannah's own lifetime. Belcara Jarvis - Blood/Honor - While Belcara technically is not blood-related to Hannah, that does not mean she hasn't bled for her. The trip home from Varisia was not without complications, and a scar on the noblewoman's left arm is a permanent badge of honor. In every way that matters, Belcara is Hannah's mother, friend, and confidante... if not always the most responsible or attentive person. Giveni Henge - Slightly Antagonistic/Romantic - While Hannah was still learning to 'walk' within the city, Giveni had been there to show her the ropes, helping her to meet the right people, and see all of the right faces. Quite the inverse of her relationship with Lily, Hannah was the one who had been drawn into the eye of the storm. Ultimately, though, the owner of the Three-Legged Devil moved on long before Hannah, and she was casually cast aside. No hard feelings, on his end anyway. Aluceda Zhol - along with other priests of Zon-Kuthon - Antagonistic - Hannah is quite vocal about the eye-sore that is Shadowsquare. Nevermind that their beliefs are virtually anathema to her own. While the Shadowsquare is visually impressive, the fact that anyone would use architecture for the sole purpose of creating a courtyard that blocks the sun is entirely beyond Hannah. Step 5: Describe three memories, mannerisms, or quirks that your character has. They don't have to be elaborate, but they should provide some context and flavor. Hannah is a nervous nailbiter - which drives Lily, with her meticulously groomed hands, crazy. Hannah has been a regular attendee of the Songbird Hall for the last several years, taking lessons in diplomacy (and of greater interest for the young woman, courtship) as well as the less structural portions of architectural design. It was only by chance that she had never run into Lily prior to their meeting in Aria Park - a memory that Hannah can still remember vividly. Following the heavenly voice, despite being late, to discover a young woman tending flowers that - at least to Hannah's eyes - did not need to be tended. She still associates the sound of songbirds, the feel of sunlight on her skin, and the smell of roses with that day, and in particular, Lily, who is all of these things to her. Self defense courses were a requirement of Hannah's youth. A noblewoman who cannot defend herself is a liability, not an asset, after all. It also simply would not do for the daughter of an adventurer and worshiper (if in secret) of Cayden to be some delicate flower. Even still, she isn't particularly adept with weapons in the way that her mother is, having not quite had that knack. What she took to easily was taking advantage of a person who underestimates her, doesn't see her as a threat, or doesn't even know she's there. What she's taught herself more recently is to pull her punches. Nonlethal takedowns may not be a permanent solution... but she can keep the streets a little safer by making Thrune's flunkies look over their shoulders a little more often. She can remember the disappointment on her trainer's face when she declined to carry even a hidden blade with her when she moved amongst the streets. She hasn't shared her geokinetic abilities with anyone. Direction: Hannah's direction should be fairly clear. She will be a literal Silver Rebel, utilizing her earthen skin as a significant portion of her disguise. At early levels she works control and nonlethal damage into her build, alongside some decent mobility, being capable of stealth and acrobatics, as well as extremely capable at getting away. As she grows in power, she'll become a powerhouse switch-hitter, able to force enemies to come to her with potent ranged attacks, or making certain that they have difficulty staying in any position to do real harm. Hannah will always be a controller who will prefer to set the pace of battle. |
