Houserules
Shield Blocking - Using a shield takes some ammount of knowledge as to where to hold the shield, thus you are denied your shiled bonus when flat-footed EXCEPT when the bonus comes from a shield spell, animated shield, or similar effect.
Free Multiclassing - No XP. penalty for multiclassing. Regular non-experience related penalties for Paladins and similar classes.
'Sensible' Encumberance - Encumberance only counts for combat gear and objects weighing more than 20 lbs. Your clothing and other light objects are pretty much ignored, but you still might have trouble hauling about that canoe.
