I like the idea of an Theives' Guild-based party. That would give the DM plenty of material to work with for adventures - attacking rival guilds, raiding areas for magic items...Heck, the guild could be willing to do almost any heroic/impressive act just for the glory! They could even do some good stuff, to get on the good sides of the guards or city leadership...hmm...

Aside from that, I participated in a DnD session in which everyone had 3 levels of Wizard and then three levels of whatever else they wanted. It was only a one-shot for me, but it seemed like there was a lot of neat dynamics - the group had maybe 10 people when I was there, and with that many people we had all sorts of races, and more importantly, spell choices. Some specialized in blasting, of course, but others took some Divination. We ended up taking the Wizard Paladin and buffing him up using an Abjurer and a Transmuter, and he took the brunt of our hits...The whole thing was all very interesting.

Dang, I really am envious. Great job! I would love to be in your class.

I'm in High School right now, and just transferred schools. I still game with my old group via webcam, but I'd like some personal interaction too. (Plus I'd like to get to know some gamers from my school.)

Unfortunately, it seems that my school doesn't support a Gaming Club. They have a Gamer's Club, but all they do (so far as I can tell) is play video games. There's also the "Game Club," which plays chess and other board games...come on, people...

Any experience on finding or setting up such a group? (I hope this is with the spirti of the thread and I'm not just a distraction...)

Alright...we've had a fair amount of deaths/resignations, but recently our party was:

1. Level 6 Human Warlock, Orpheus (the reincarnation of player's Level 2 Wolf-Man Knight, who was restored to life by a mysterious entity). Orpheus is a poet, and my house rule is that he must rhyme to his enemies in order to Hideous Blow them. He's a good role-player.

(I have decided I don't like Warlocks...they deal WAY too much damage. Hideous Blow...shudder.)

2. Level 5 Binder/Seal Knight 1 (Human), "Gut-Tugger" (yes, named after the Felldrake :D). A bit of a powergamer, being a Binder lets this guy fill an various roles.

3. Level 6 Dwarven Cleric, Clangarin (with spells that focus on healing). Our designated healer. The player has suffered the most deaths (by far...maybe 6 or 8, in comparison to two or three...), but he's doing his role well, and is a bit fanatical when it comes to church matters.

4. Level 3 Fighter / 1 Rogue / 2 Bard (Human). Don Amiro de Adriano (based of a character of similar name and demeanor from Shakespeare's Love's Labor Lost) is my NPC...we are short a player, and he is essentially a Fencer Bard with enough Rogue to try to open chests and find traps.
