"A distraction? I can handle that. How many blast disks do we have?" So, I toss a few blast disks into a building a good distance away from the mine then run like hell and put on a different disguise so I don't get killed. Joyelle and Jax then sneak into the mine and break everyone out while the guards are trying to find me, and I'll stay close enough to the mine to help you when you get out. Also, I think we've lost Memento Mori again.

Meanwhile, back at an undisclosed location... "Synatria said that in four nights they'll be out, and that she'll get out even if she needs to leave her kin behind. I assume she was telling us to come back then. The question is, how do we get back in. Disguise ourselves again and demand to see the prisoners we brought in? Sneak in?"

Lethe wrote: Lethe stands there in what is (for her at least) very deep thought. "Well you all have those disguise things and the Valenor here don't know we killed all there mates back at the ambush. So you guys could pretend to be them and say you took me prisoner and are transferring me to the mines?" "One problem with that plan. We don't know anything about those Valenar. We don't know their names, we don't know how they act, and half of us can't speak Elven. We'd be better off sneaking in and pretending to be workers in the mine."

Lethe wrote: "I think you're command disagrees with you. I mean they just happen to send you out to the middle of no where as far away from them as possible that doesn't strike you as a bit odd?" "If they don't send us back in the next few months, then I'll just leave there myself. And if they try to stop me, Dol Arrah help them...

"A lightning bolt did this. At least, this was done with electricity." Haedric steps up to the elven script and reads it alound in a vaguely mocking tone. "Here lie traitors to the glory of Valenar. Let them rot, without honor, and those who touch the traitos will suffer the same fate."
Male Human Wizard 4 (Evoker)
Haedric simply searches through the wreckage, not wishing to attempt to console Lethe. After all, he knows what she's going through. Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 Also, Knowledge(Arcana, Engineering, Nature), what caused the explosion? 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 161d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 231d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Synatria Silven wrote: "I use a very different sort of magic, wizard. When you use yours, you feel power. When I use mine, I feel complete. Completely in touch with the world, not as master, but as a piece, as one link of the vast chain." For the first time in the discussion, she smiles. "You cannot imagine the feeling. Power? It is useful. Connectedness? It is what we were born for. The only thing worth living for." "Oh, but there's so much more worth living for than simple oneness. Duty. Love. Revenge..." Haedric trails off and once again begins to scowl.

A nostalgic smile begins to spread over Haedric's face. "Oh, but it's so much more than that, really. It's mostly research, but the magic itself is worth it. The ability to, through your will alone, force the world to acknowledge you, to do what you want it to do. Show me one wizard who says they continue working magic for any other reason, and I will show you a liar."

Haedric shrugs as he stands up for the watch. "Don't ask me, I thought half the people talking were still asleep." Staying on first watch. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 KC: Remember when we were in Monty Haul's pbp about monsters fleeing from adventurers through Undermountain that ended when he had to deal with stuff in real life? Well, he's back. Go over to this thread and say you're back so we can get the game back off the ground, will ya?

Lethe wrote: Lethe nods at Jax's words before turning to Haerdric "How about you? how did you end up here?" Haedric continues to stare out into the desert. You would almost think he didn't hear you until he started speaking. "Those Karnnathi bastards took the only thing I ever cared for away from me. As much as I wanted to, couldn't destroy it all by myself. So I joined this."

Attack roll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 I'll just roll the large amounts of 3d6 in IC. Use however many you'd need.

Synatria Silven wrote: Hang on, didn't you just move? Her part in this combat technically started a round or two before us, so the movement was last round, when we were moving into position/attacking in the surprise round. EDIT: Haedric sends out a bolt of force, striking one of the warriors. Using Bolt of Force, 6 times left today. 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

"We're ordered to help the rebellion. They're rebels, we're helping them." Haedric moves out with the rest, ready to place two bolts into the nearest horse. Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 and firing two bolts at the nearest horse. 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 111d8 ⇒ 31d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 191d8 ⇒ 5

Yes, and after your dramatic betrayal you'll be dead before your charred remains hit the ground. Just some food for thought. :P Anyway, welcome to our new player! We still only have half a healer, but that's good enough for now.

Haedric follows, albeit a bit too obviously. Stealth, Perception: 1d20+7=9, 1d20+1=16

"Yes. We don't want to go walking when the sun is up." Knowledge(Nature and Geography), about the surrounding area. 1d20+9=15, 1d20+7=22

If Garroth seems disinterested in the proceeds, Haedric seems completely apathetic. He does stand straighter and looks more well-dressed than usual during the ceremony, but it seems to be a matter of decorum more than anything else. During all of his free time, he remains in his room, frantically writing in his spellbook. Sign in to create or edit a product review. |
