Kazmojen's penalties for two-weapon fighting with the urgrosh are -4 to the primary attack and -8 to the secondary (since a double weapon is considered light on the off-hand attack). That squares with the math (+3 BAB, +5 Str, +1 masterwork, +1 Weapon Focus = +10).

I suspect the non-optimal attack routine was designed largely to keep him from mopping the floor with the entire party.

I've never ever been interested in doing a Kickstarter - especially after reading so many Tenkar's Tavern blogs about failed Kickstarters or Kickstarters that funded by didn't make good on their promises.

But when I saw this one I dived in headfirst without hesitation. Why? Because I've got the original and it's beyond awesome.

And because Chris Pramas is an exemplary game designer who I felt I could trust.

Way to go guys! Can't wait to get my stuff!

Sooo....what I'm asking is, since I already bought this, will my download be updated to the new version like my Paizo products do so that I can re-download it to get the new cover and updated with errata version?

I bought a copy of this some time ago and its last update was in 2010. Will there be an update for this product that updates it to the current cover and contents?

It's nice to know that having been away for awhile I can always come back and find serious threads on the messageboards about "boobplate armor." It's just a matter of time before somebody posts a thread about attack and skill penalties for a wearing a codpiece outside of his size category.

Anyone else spot anything here on the site that's boggles your mind lately? Maybe something really gonzo like Rob Kuntz actually publishing something?

The Pathfinder version of Rappan Athuk has a lesser gibbering orb statted up that's very beholdery...and took the place of one of the resident beholders in the 3.0 version.

I guess this would be an example of punishing a player...maybe unfairly, maybe not. I had a guy create a half-elf druid...named Steve.

A half-elf druid. Named Steve. Steve. Ug.

I tried to patiently explain how Steve the Druid violated the campaign aesthetic. The player was adamant. Steve the half-elf druid.

Steve the druid died.

Yes infinity.

It makes me think of the war dancer. The Warhammer war dancer. Is this class stepping on any toes?

Best to start with one book, I suppose. As opposed to the bajillions of demon lords the game has seen come and go, and the more than a dozen 'nine archdevils,' along with the various other uber-fiends (like Anthraxus), the concept of 'Angel Lords' is pretty shiny and new, and while we've had dozens of articles going on in depth about this demon lord or that infernal heirarch, including the 3.5 Books of Fiends, and entire adventure series dealing with figures like Orcus and Lolth, we've really had little more than a couple of *sentences* about 'arch-angels' or Ragathiel or whomever.

They are pretty much starting from scratch, compared to entire articles worth of text on nobodies like Zuggtmoy, so it's probably for the best that they start small, and grow the notion more organically, than just pump out a bunch of stuff on Agathion or Azata, for instance, about which we know shockingly little, or Garuda and Peri, about which we know even less!

With names like 'planeter' and 'solar,' it leaves me wondering if there are angels named after other celestial bodies, like size and shape-changing Lunars or vast quasi-corporeal Nebulars or portentous doom-heralding fiery-trailing Cometars, or, Kirby forfend, purple-armored planet-cleansing Galactars. Are armies of angels called 'constellations,' and can they array themselves precisely to form vast glyph-like forms mimicing astrological formations that enact mythic ritual effects, so long as they remain 'in formation,' becoming 'constellations' not only in name, but in fact?

I do hope that some of the evocative names from the Bestiary (p. 18 and p. 23) get a callback. Cocidius the Hawk-Keeper, Ogoun of Fire and Iron, Cernunnos the Stag Lord and Muyingwa the Seed Thrower (a Mwangi angel? Woo!) all sound super cool.

Dude...sounds like you need to write a 3rd party product because that whole thing was just too cool. I want exactly what you just described.

Fish have boobs?

Everyone is commenting about the Shakespearean name. Am I the only one who immediately thought of Calibos from the original Clash of the Titans?

Or am I just so old that I'm the only who remembers that movie?

Bueller? Bueller?

Cool. Keep us posted - it sounds awesome.

Does anyone know of a legit source where one can get the original (2nd edition) Runequest rulebook?

Not to be confused with the Runequest 2 products put out by Mongoose, I'm talking about the red rulebook which has Rurik's advnetures, etc.

That happened to my last homebrew and my group never recovered despite some aborted attempts and now I'm living in the ass end of Nowhere and don't know anyone.

Let us know how it goes, whatever you end up going with.

Thanks for the link Orth..uh..Nur..no...whatsyername.

So whatever happened in this campaign?

There's another thread somewhere around here that talks about integrating them into the storyline.

Do you have the 3E modual Bastion of Broken Souls? Both the Cathezar and Nurn from that module are great NPCs to spice up an adventure at this level. Moreover, their backstories in that mod already tie them into this storyline.

It's now available on pdf at dndclassics.com.

Now newly reavailable at dndclassics.com!

Also, Shadowfire's Will save is only a +7. He'd need a natural 20 to make the save.

Just saying...

DC 27 seems a reasonably high DC for a CR 13 critter. What's giving the fighter his high Will save? Plus, if anyone gets shaken from its aura they take a -2 on saves.

Notice that this adventure is for 4 18th level characters. A CR 13 monster really is like an annoying mosquito.

Also, keep in mind that whether you keep it as is or go with that Fiend of Possession, a simple 1st level Protection from Evil pretty much nerfs its mojo.

I'm just advising one thing really: don't spend a lot of time on something that doesn't really promote the adventure. Unless you want to because you think its really that fun and so will your players.

They seem to be updating the listings fairly quickly. It went from a 1 page listing to a 5 page listing in 1 day. Too, some pdfs that I bought through DriveThruRPG have been updated and are now better quality than what I originally downloaded - and I didn't have to pay 1 red cent for what I already owned.

I'm optimistic and really hoping for the OD&D White Box and supplements.

Sidith-Yeus is a nuisance distraction. He's not meant to be more than a diversion - a bump in the road.

On the other hand...if it jumps from NPC to NPC and uses its incorporeality to keep its distance it can be fun to annoy your party with him.

One of the things I really loath about gestalt is players who try to squeeze even more out of it than it already gives. Total headache.

Followed my own advice...protective aura alone is worth the price of admission. Useable as a free action! FTW!

Level adjustment is an arbitrary level penalty that creates a level gap to compensate for the percieved advantages granted by the template. In other words, the saint template is supposed to be as good as the benefits received from 2 actual levels.

30 levels doesn't compute. A 15th level gestalt still only has 15 HD, some better saves (but still only as a 15th level character), and some extra benefits. It's not a 30th level anything. Don't allow yourself to think like that.

Go back and look over the saint template and see again just how good it is. It's a fair trade.

Several of the critters you've posted are IP. Don't know why Orbius would disappear.

You could always make him a neh-thaalgu.

I can't stress strongly enough when "augmenting" adventures like this: put in more mooks - don't "beef up" the BBEG. Mooks, mooks, and more mooks.

When I see the word "gestalt" I think that the problem is identified. Balancing for gestalt is just to touchy - you either get milquetoast or overkill.

My prayers and best wishes go out to you sir. Get well soon.

You can't apply a level adjustment to "only one half" because the character doesn't have any halves. Gestalt fighter cleric is one class. It's one character with the best of both classes. Plus, it's a template, not a prestige class. It effects the character - not the classes.

Post whatever you want. You're not selling it. It's a fan forum and you're only posting conversions from your home game. That doesn't violate intellectual property in any way.

I was of course referring to hair gel...

Sorry, but I also wish the ooze was colored different. It looks like something you really don't want it associated with.

The 3.5 version of Dyr'ryd is capable of spider climbing while invisible and moving from wall to wall. Both that version and the PF Bestiary version give a shaggy demodand a crapload of fog-based spells that could blanket the whole room. You can't see invisible if you can't see at all!

Remember, Dyr'ryd's goal is to fight a delaying action - not directly engage the party. I'd give the 3.5 version Ventriloquism in place of one of his other sorcerer spells.

Recycle the bad guys. If the players didn't kill something before it made a name for itself, give it a few levels, advance it and give it minions, then have it try to take the players out itself/put it in a dungeon to broker an alliance with the Cagewrights etc.

Because: Adimarchus is a sore loser.

That's pretty cool. Why should Vhalantru have all the fun?

There's a pic of Celeste in her ghaele form somewhere at the end of the Savage Tide AP.

You're following the book's script too closely. Why was Dyr'ryd even alone? He's got a whole sanctum full of allies and (more importantly) expendable mooks. At the very least Shebeleth should be present to buff his ally and draw fire. Even better would be a bunch of lesser demodands getting in the way.

There are like a million posts in these forums about never letting your BBEG fight alone. If Dyr'ryd is toast just plan ahead for the next showdown.

I'm all for removing the negative aspects of the spell. In my campaign the dead PC typically got looted while the player rolled up a new character. Then you've got a player out of action instead of playing. Then you've got a new character to introduce who is strangely fully customized for the current setting and situation. Bad.

Peter Stewart wrote:

Tend to agree with OP about it sounding excessive. That's even laying aside my horrible feelings about the entire idea of things like 'magic immunity' - that should only exist in an exceptionally tiny number of creatures (which does not include foes like Golems).

Would you throw a monster immune to melee damage, or weapon damage at a party?

Yes I would. It's called an insect swarm. Immune to weapon damage as long as critters composing the swarm are Fine or Diminutive. A fine example of this can be found in Erik Mona's Whispering Cairn for the Age of Worms AP.

I haven't even been following this debate and I'm still grateful. Maybe now I won't have to skip so many monk threads to find what I want.

Hence the mythic tier abilities and feats allowing you to penetrate epic DR.

It has to be a +6 enhancement bonus to the weapon. Properties like flaming and keen do not make a weapon epic. It's the plusses that push it into epic.

Well, mythic damage is different from normal damage. Why wouldn't mythic swift actions be a thing unto themselves? Just an idea...
