Gunnar is the youngest son of a powerful mercantile family based in Kalsgard, the largest city in the Land of the Linnorm Kings. However, unlike his older brothers, he inherited none of his father's political or business acumen. Instead, he seemed to owe his talents and attitude to much more distant ancestors: the Ulfen warriors that had acquired his family's wealth and power originally.
His father was unclear what to do with his wayward son, until he hit upon a scheme: a way to increase his family's influence in a powerful organisation based in the trading hub of Absalom, while also providing a trusted agent in the Inner Sea for his business partners across the Crown of the World in Tian Xia.
Gunnar was initially resistant to joining the Pathfinder Society, but soon found the lifestyle of a Pathfinder recruit to be a breath of fresh air, and far more suited to his personality than haggling over business deals in the Thanelands, and he progressed through the training with relatively few problems. Now he finds himself being sent on his first mission as a fully-fledged Pathfinder.
