1. Why are you in Westcrown?
"Yew think I'm 'ere by choice, bigg'un? Yew boxed out've your mind?" the halfling snorts. He stares at you incredulously for a moment before returning to shaving his whiskers with a razor-sharp sickle. He scrapes the hairs from his large, bulbous nose and seems surprised to see that you're still pestering him. "Westcrown's just where I manage to give yer friends in the Chelish navy the slip, tha's all..." The halfling sets his blade down and reaches under his sweat-stained collar, absent mindedly running his fingers across the scars on his back. "Wot're yew lookin' at? Yew want my life story or summtin'? Get out of my face, human."

2. Given a chance would you hurl down the ruling houses and take their place? Or create a new form of government?
"All the blooming same, you tall folk..." the halfling says, splashing his face with cold-water and spitting at your feet. "Don't matter which arse is polishing the throne, see? Only matters who's behind 'em lining their purse." he grins knowingly, revealing a mouth of gold teeth still dripping wet. He grabs your cloak with his grubby hands, mopping his face dry before pulling you in close with surprising strength, voice lowering to a whisper. "The thrice damned Council. That's who needs to be trod into the dirt. Ain't nothin' left for us honest, freelancers. That's the way of it..."

3. What will you be able to contribute to the group?

Grubby should be able to serve as a forward scout and also has a smattering of social skills (albiet a low charisma score). In combat, with a buff or two spared for him, he should hopefully have enough damage to reliably eliminate targets. He's very manueverable with the bandit archetype and his quickrunner's shirt, but I've also made sure he has a number of options when he can't flank. While intimidate is out for a small sized character, he has a passable ability to trip and disarm (especially against debuffed or flatfooted foes), a reach weapon and tanglefoot bags at his disposal. He has a number of bonuses against foes of large size or larger, i.e. those that are riskier to flank.

4. How do you expect the character to develop roleplay wise? Mechanically?

From a roleplay perspective I don't see Grubby having an enormous character arc. I'm hoping his larger than life personality will breathe some new life into your game, so I didn't want to roll with anything too mild-mannered. His time with the party will probably soften some of his harder edges, and greed and ambition will probably drive him to the campaigns completion.

Mechanically I mean to jump into the Halfling Opportunist Prestige Class, pick up Combat Reflexes at 7th, a thematic ability, some save boosts and Sneak Attack to my AoO's. He's sorely missing the Offensive Defense talent at present, but with so few feats to work with I opted to ditch it. Further delaying my sneak attack to pick it up doesn't seem like the best idea, but I can always grab my 6th rogue level somewhere down the track if my AC is lagging.

Some Questions for Tark:
#1: The Halfling Opportunist? I thought I should double check with you regarding the halfling opportunist prestige class. That first (key) ability is particularly clunky looking in practice and might be harder to adjudicate. You'll have to trust in both my good sense and the fact that I'll probably only use it sparingly. Are you okay with it? I'm a little hesitant to give up advanced talents, but that capstone ability will go a long way.

#2: Child of Shadows campaign trait Would this trait also allow a rogue to sneak attack in darkness, or would I have to find room for the shadow strike feat for that?

#3: Fractional BAB/Saves: Would you allow me to take fractional BAB to avoid that little speedbump the level 5 entry gives me by using fractional BAB? I want to keep my hit chance as high as possible, for both my sneak attacks and manuevers. Cheers!

5. I'm a Hellknight about to lay some police brutality down on you. What do you say to stop me from breaking off my spiked greaved boot in your butt?
"'ad you pegged fer a Thrunie from the start, I did." the halfling says, sweeping from his stool and fastening his cloak. "Well then, I've got one question for you, bub. 'ow fast can you run in that nice armour?"
Grubby takes an immediate withdraw action. A rogue doesn't get to level 5 getting lippy with Hellknights. No sir.
