Hey guys, Sorry to see this go. I know everyone was having fun with it. Nate, when you open those new games if you're looking for a 5-7 post a week game, I'm pretty sure I could commit to that, and depending on the nature of the game, would definitely be interested in playing with this group again. Rimey Jim: The note reads..... Dear Haupapa Kaikōrero, Our company, it seems is splitting once again. Whereas Avaria left for love and Victoria for duty, I part due to a looming sense of doom. These hundreds of giants the broken half-elf wrote of must be somewhere within the hinterlands. They pose a threat too great to ignore, and too pressing to wait upon. Perhaps they were the fevered imaginings of a delusional mind. In either case, the need to know weighs deeply upon me. I feel the danger to Sandpoint is still present, and allowing our group to abandon it before Hemlock returns with his soldiers would be unwise. Additionally, Ameko's recent tribulations and Tsuto's cruelty towards his father has stirred within me unpleasant memories I feel I must deal with to be a proper emissary from my people. It is with these thoughts rolling through my mind that I have decided upon a course of action. I will take to the skies and scout out the Hinterlands for signs of an army. Such a large force should be visible from the air, and in the form of a bird or bat I should attract less attention. If I had told this to the group, I am certain Justinius would have insisted on coming, and the resourceful Valanthe might have even provided a means. But we know eagerness is no substitute for caution, guile, and wits. So I will make this journey alone. Please watch after Sandpoint and these young would-be-heroes. Graverattler follows along rather more quietly than usual. As the party heads towards Madame Mvashti's, she nudges Oliver and whispers "I'm going back to the Dragon to check on Ameiko. These kinds of ordeal can... linger."
"Agreed." Graverattler says, tendrils retracting and color returning to normal as she returns to her human form. "The priority now should be getting Ameiko to safety and reporting our findings to the authorities." She moves towards the area Ameiko is stashed, a far-away look in her eyes.
EDIT:Noop Graverattler nods, then begins looking around for signs of where Ameiko might be.
Round 4 Init 16 (delayed until he becomes visible) Graverattler strides forward, striking out with a tentacleand attempting to grab Tsuto. Vital Strike for plus grab "Surrendering might leave room for mercy, although if you were involved in that mess upstairs, it may be hard to come by." she says as she grabs at the man.
Graverattler speaks a few words in Shoanti "Po, hamama, ka raraku, kitea te tamaiti, me te ki a ia kohao.", gestures, and sends a horde of screaming monkeys into the room. Shoanti:

Round 2 Init 20

Noting that Justinius makes short work of the first demon, she continues forward to deal a decisive blow to the blinded one, attempting to wrap it up in one of her tentacles. Round 1 Init 20 Knowledge Planes NOPE Graverattler double moves up next to Jim. "What's a Coluxus demon?"
Graverattler helps a bit with the bodies, and agrees with the scouting plan, staying in the back with Justinius and Oliver. She wonders aloud to Jim while moving the bodies "Do you think Lonjiku's associates betrayed him, or was his son responsible for this? I can't imagine Ameiko having anything to do with it, no matter how much hatred there was between them."
"Indeed. Let's use haste." Graverattler's planty tentacle-legs slither across the floor towards the cellar.
"Thanks, Valanthe, but, since we are in a hurry, please allow me to assist as well." Graverattler says as Valanthe begins the slow process of healing by wand. Cure Critical Wounds

Thanks for the patience, getting things back together now with new laptop.
"Indeed, Ameiko needs our help. If you're running low on healing magic, I may be able to conjure some reserves for Oliver before we go, Justinius." Graverattler offers, her voice sounding now more like her own.
Looks like I'm sower than the giant and I'm having computer issues, so I'll wait until after he goes. Hopefully I'll have everything back to normal tomorrow.
Surprise Round Init 11: Graverattler mumbles a few incoherent words about patience and then intones "Tuitui me te tuitui kati te kikokiko, me te hanga i te reira katoa." Her wounds bind themselves, in anticipation of impending danger. To Oliver, she quickly notes "I take many forms, this is one I've fought before." Shoanti:

"Seems a size adjustment is required. Also perhaps a bit of healing." Graverattler says, rejoining Justinius while converting her form to that of a fungus queen. "There was a door beyond the sample room I just left, as well."
"Agreed." Graverattler grinds. She heads south to check out any doors there.

R 7 I 8 Graverattler mere pursues the giant by earthgliding through the wall. If she spots him, she will attempt to slow him down by hitting him with a sirocco. DC 22.
Reflex Graverattler takes a face full of acid. The rocks forming her body sizzle and pock.
Round 6 Init 8 Graverattler growls and leaps forward, kicking and punching the giant in a series of precisely aimed blows. "Nice try, giant, but you will fall, now."
Round 5 Init 8 Graverattler moves back around the corner and down the corridor (total move rate 80 with haste) She grinds out "I've got it." and stops no shorter than just out of reach of the giant, gravelly voice intoning an inspired dispel magic on the cretinous casting colossus. CL check
Graverattler jumps through the air, kicking and flailing at the shielded giant. "What are you giants doing here? What vile purpose does Kaijitsu have for Sandpoint?" she inquires in gravelly tones to the giant as she strikes against him. Flying kick for

Round 2 Initiative 8 Graverattler smiles an earthen grin as her foes are caught in her blast. "Softened, and now you fall." She hammers against the giant who tried to strike her, lashing out with devastating stony blows than ring through the chamber. Also, FAQ/errata has declared that Cleave/Great Cleave doesn't help.
Graverattler grates "Burn!" and belches forth a great stream of acid catching as many giants as she can in a 60' line.
Graverattler grins an earthen smile "Best remind them they are not welcome here, Hukapapa."
Graverattler moves next to Valanthe at the door, intoning a spell "Kikokiko whakapakeke ki te kohatu, te kaha, kahore te kaha ōrite i roto." She waits with the patience of stone for Valanthe's report. Shoanti:

Graverattler shakes her head, reaching down to grasp the soil before her. It crawls up her arm as her limbs thicken and become earthen themselves. She grows and hardens, becoming an earth elemental once again. Her voice rings out like stone scraping stone "We should make haste. There will be no element of surprise, and if we are in any kind of error, we need to know before the Sheriff arrives." She stomps into the glassworks, looking for trouble/
Graverattler examines the building, waiting patiently while Valanthe attempts her spell. Surely a glassworks has windows. As she waits, she does a quick walk around the building.
Graverattler intones brief enchantment before catching up with the group. "Pakiaka i roto i te whenua, manga teitei, kiri ki te pato'ii te hau kino." Shoanti:
Roots in the earth, branches aloft, skin to resist ill winds.
"Best be off. Don't go getting ahead of us Justinius. Remember the wyrm's lessons." Graverattler says in a low voice, rising and moving towards the door.
@Hagfish: "I am sure we will soon be back in action, toku hoa hukapapa. But I agree, life in Sandpoint does seem to be gentler than I am used to. Jim & GM: "Sounds like just what I was looking for, Rimy Jim. Lead the way."
From the waitress- "I'll have the chowder as well, and perhaps whatever your catch of the day is, thank you." Once settled, she inquires of Jim "You want to lay odds on how long Justinius stays oblivious to Valanthe's attraction?"
Graverattler sheds her feathers, molting away to human form. "Heh, can you imagine what we must have looked like backlit by Justinius's light? A giant vulture ridden by a pirate. Yes, Jim, I believe mealtime does approach. Perhaps somewhere... different... tonight? A restaurant or tavern by the docks? We might be able to get some seafood that hasn't been overly spiced."
"I have the feeling you'd be more comfortable on my back than in my talons. We'll just have to make sure you balance yourself correctly."
"I offer a ride to any who might find the trip down daunting." Graverattler, in the form of a great horse-sized vulture offers.
Graverattler looks over the edge, watching the sun set over the sea while Justinius's artificial sunlight glows behind her. "Po pai te taea'e, e kite koe i runga i tou hoki." she says to the setting sun. After it sets, she turns back to the others. "We can discuss the particulars of watches and such business at the Rusty Dragon over supper, if you'd like. Perhaps Valanthe and Oliver can entertain us with some local anecdotes." She steps forward, her features twisting as feathers begin to sprout from her skin. She grows larger and lighter of frame, transforming into a great bird. "And getting down should not be a problem." Graverattler smirks. Don't think there'd be much looking out going on. "Taking shifts seems to be the wise choice. Perhaps we can find some king of alarm horn down in the village to work as a signal."
"The view is quite engaging." Graverattler says, but ssems to be paying more attention to the ruins than the vista. ""As always from this high. In fact, I think this would make an idea watchtower until the Sheriff returns. Certainly anyone watching from here would see another giant approach long enough ahead to raise an alarm."
"I have long held an interest in the relics of the old empire." Graverattler says, becoming much more engaged now that the matter has turned towards her interest in all things Thassilonian.
Graverattler places her arm gently on Valanthe's shoulder, trying to reassure the discomforted woman, and leaning in and whispering. "I am sure it is due to whatever discomforts you, but you will recall that these spells may not be cast on another."
"I'll have you know, I've never ate a whole human." she returns the grin.
Graverattler will follow, pondering the soothsayer's words while working a shine onto her newly crafted bone and ivory wand. She takes in Valanthe's words, putting them in the back of her mind for later examination while keeping an eye out for turtles.
"It is good to hear such news. Thank you." Graverattler acknowledges. She takes in the conversation without further comment, but cracks a smile at Justinius' accidental flirtation. Her smile vanishes quickly enough as Oliver and Valanthe make their attempts at making Jim seem warm in comparison. As Jim requests a reading, she takes a seat, her interest fully diverted to the proceedings.
Graverattler smiles as the women greet her in her native tongue and manner, joining in the toast as requested. She doesn't seem to mind Valanthe's inspection of her histories and achievements. Indeed, she seems almost impressed at Valanthe's understanding of their import, even if their specific meanings may be lost in translation. She inquires quietly "Ko papa pai, no te tutaki koutou ki a ia? Kua riro te reira te wa tino Sime mai ahau i waiho toku iwi." Shoanti: "Was father well when you met him? It has been quite sime time since I left my people."
Graverattler sizes up the Varisian muscle with a bemused look, but lets Justinius do the talking. |
