Would be more interested in doing the drow side but could do either. Sounds interesting either way.

I would like to submit my entry of Gorn the Blade. Here is his background, crunch is in the character. Still need to finish a number of items like HP and equipment but the background is the most important part so I will assume you will judge based upon that and the basic character type since I can finish up the remaining items in short time.

I am a very frequent poster and have been in a number of longer campaigns. Thank you for your consideration.

Background:

Gorn stood in the bakery, his golden eyes seemingly looking through the fat man in front of him, Ulek would like his gold now, you are two weeks behind in your payment!, Gorn said in a low, but deadly manner as his blade slipped out of its sheath.
He liked this part the best. His cruel heart hoping the man wouldn't have the gold. He could always arrange an "accident" for him.
The big baker stuttered as he tried to get out his best excuse...Gorn didn't even bother listening. The baker wasn't even aware that his other blade also slipped out and was now between his legs as he distracted him with his primary blade.
Gorn spoke severely, So I guess I will take your manhood this time, as payment of the interest on your principal????
The big baker paled as he felt the blade rest on his privates.
No, no, you can have my jewelry then, just don't take them! the Baker looked down at the blade between his legs. A few minutes later Gorn was on his way back to old town, another balance collected with extra interest...he would of course pocket the extra.

Gorn was born on the streets of old town. He knew nothing of his mother and father other than he was born a freak. Thin stubby horns, which he kept hidden by his thick hair and golden eyes marked him as something else. Years on the street can take its toll on a person and make them dead or it can make them hard. In Gorn's case it had shaped him into stone. Knowing little about his background, his natural "talents" still came in handy. Being able to sneak in and out of places. Creating magical darkness to escape a bully or a mark...handy indeed.
Eventually his "fight" for survival caught the eyes of a local crimnal named Ulek. Ulek the "enforcer" had little style. He was a crimelord for a local crime boss. Old town had it fair share of crime, it was just kept well under wraps.
One day he ran across Gorn escaping a mark and claimed him as his own. Working with his other "daggers" he spent a few years picking pockets and picking up small debts from merchant types. Between his features and a natural knack for getting things out of people quickly he became Ulek's top debt collector. Just the threats from Gorn's short swords and his intimations about that persons soul were usually enough to get the job done. Gorn had played his unusual features into the oppososite of what he truly was. He had convinced most that his golden eyes were heaven touched, that of the Aasimar's. A few words of Celestial and his sweet tougue was usually enough to sway the listener into believing his lies.

Unfortunately for Ulek, he had been blackmailing the wrong city official. When the official was able to use magic to get back what Ulek had on him the city guards descended on Ulek and his crew and wiped most of them out. A little luck and a little skill allowed Gorn to barely escape with his life.

With Ulek gone and his services not in demand Gorn wandered a little, doing small jobs but nothing big enough to get the attention of anyone powerful, or so he thought.

It was not until sometime later that a "chance" encounter would change his life. Gorn was wondering into the the Handmaiden's Purse and as he walked in two city guards were walking out and he bumped into one of them, Watch it peasant! One word from me and I will have you in stocks. warned the young officer who was obviously brand new to the post. He was filled with his own sense of self importance and wanting to exercise his self worth in his new position. The tavern grew silent as Gorn stood before him.
The hood slipped from his head, exposing his celestial features...he slipped out a word in Celestial, Fool..., before switching to common. Speaking the tongue from the "goody, goody" types he found usually helped to set the stage, and re-enforce that this person was dealing with something he might not be able to comprehend, "Mayhap we both were not looking where we were going eh young man???? He let the nature of the creature before him sink in as Gorn's golden eyes burned into his skull. 10 years ago at 15 he had forced gold from the hands of 200lb warriors, this young fop was nothing to him now but he could be dangerous if pushed too hard.
The Captain seemed to pale a little as he gave Gorn and his eyes a once over. The Captain's resolve waiver under his gaze as he just couldn't bring himself to force a showdown.
Maybe....lets go Davis
He scurried out of the tavern like most of his kind do and Gorn sat down to drink. After a short time a woman in a long dress came over, from her stance she was obviously someone important and dangerous.
Buy you a drink? she said.
Of course my friend, my table is yours. What can I do for you. I replied.

I think it is more about what I can do for you. The name is Tiadora. We are always on the lookout for talented individuals. I saw you handle yourself. You lucky the little man didn't pull his blade, otherwise you would be dead, but it seems you have some skill with words...and I imagine other things. We could use someone like you....with your skills.
I don't care who you were or what scum birthed you. What I do care about is that you are able to do some things with your mouth and hands and to a lesser degree with your sword arm. What's your name?

Gorn told him his true name, for some reason Tiadora had the look of a woman that could easily pick up on deceit...
Tiadora spoke again, Take this coin to the house of Arigan. Someone will see to you there and if they also like what they see, you can earn a good living and be more than what you are now. Good luck Gorn, I expect to see you later.

With that she got up and walked away...no small talk just action. Gorn liked her manner and decided he would at least go and see about this opportunity...

What he found at this house was unexpected. He was brought before a man named Cardinal Thorn. He immediately saw through Gorn's disguise. So Devil spawn do you want to know what birthed you? Gorn was immidately interested, though also alarmed. It took just a few minutes for Gorn to realize that this man had no interest in the good creatures of Talinguarde and that his devilish background was part fo the reason why he was here.

It tooks but a few weeks before Gorn was enlisted into Thorn's service. He had no love for this "Kingdom". If it fell and he rose to the top of what was left then all the better!

Personality – Gorn is a very serious type. He knows his strengths, and although he considers himself a threat, he knows when not to step over a line or cross those he shouldn't. Although he grew up on the streets, he is no stranger to working with others and under strict guidelines in a group.

Description: Gorn would be quite charming when he wants to be and uses his golden eyes to good effect. He has long flowing hair black hair and is of dark complexion. His small red horns hide easily in his thick hair.

Gorn heads to the Wise district, with the entourage in tow. As they pass through the Coins he tells them about some of his favorite brothels and pubs in case they need a distraction over the coming months.
When he gets close to the destination district several hours later, he does his best job of pretending he is not a Devil spawn...

Take a 10 on Disguise, 16 total to hide his horns in his hair.

Dresden:

By the way, you may have been joking, but I am not common cutpurse. I did grow up on the streets and for a time I did what I had to. But now I am an honest man, just trying to use my skills to further our cause.

He addresses the rest of them as they approach the Wise District gate, Here is the deal, most folk in this area will think themselves better than you. Many will be part of the local government so in that aspect they are correct, at least during the day when they are protected...anyways the point I am trying to make is don't start any trouble. The people here can cause us the real kind of trouble...the kind that ends up with one or more of us in the prison, with NO release.
So let's just keep to ourselves and get this done, we will already stick out like a pack of Orcs in an Elf village...

M Tiefling Rogue 6

I was thinking that the Black Dog HQ would be in the Coins District?

If you are looking for a good library, the Wise District has the best of them. Not sure we would be entirely welcome though. There is a lot of uppity types roaming that district, we would probably be questioned by a number of guards.

M Tiefling Rogue 6

Actually I did miss that one part of his instructions...I guess looking around would be of interest.

You are right Saltuk, you should all know a little more about this great city. Let me tell you what I know that may be useful to you.
The city is ruled by Lord Gyr of House Gixx.
There are 7 general areas in the city.
Azlanti Keep: A district all to itself, this massive stone fortress sits near the northern edge of Absalom to protect the city from invaders from the land. The keep houses the city watch and the First Guard, an elite group of warriors, wizards, and scouts whose sole purpose is to root out and eliminate threats to the city. The citadel’s architecture is among the oldest in Absalom and reflects influences of the city’s Azlanti origins by way of Aroden.
The Coins: Situated just north of the docks, this district hosts most of the foreign traders and sailors who come to the city. The transient nature of the Coins’ residents attracts illicit trade in the form of drugs, slaves, and contraband. The most respectable sections of the district are the Monger’s Mart and the Grand Bazaar, where the need for
trade enforces some civility. Even so, disagreements often escalate into bloodied blades.
Ivy District: The verdant Ivy District is home to numerous theaters, bawdy houses, and galleries that attract some of Absalom’s most inf luential artists and craftsmen, as well as minor nobles, gifted actors, and popular bards. While certain “soft” crimes such as narcotics and prostitution thrive here, the residents of the district have little tolerance for hardened criminals or indigent street-dwellers.
The Petal District: Perched atop Aroden’s Hill with the whole city at its feet, the Petal District is home to the greatest merchants and most powerful nobles in the wealthiest and most powerful city in the Inner Sea region. Decadent palaces, elaborate gardens, and glittering
promenades characterize the district, which gets its name from the well-tended rows of flowers that run down the center of nearly every street. The overwhelming beauty forms a strange backdrop for the treacherous politics of Absalom’s ruthless upper class, which resorts to poison and murder as often as negotiation and armistice.
Precipice Quarter: Once Beldrin’s Bluff, a quiet and well-maintained section of town, the Precipice quarter suffered greatly from an earthquake a decade ago, during which much of the district crumbled into the harbor. Now, law-abiding citizens avoid the Precipice District and rumors whisper of strange hauntings and eerie sounds in the mostly-abandoned ruins.
The Puddles: The same terrible earthquake that ruined Beldrin’s Bluff sank the Puddles as well, so that today much of this district floods during the high tide, resulting in persistent erosion of building foundations and society. Most honest citizens fled the district years
ago, ceding it to addicts, criminals, and those too poor to have any other choice. Thieves and cutthroats abound here in great numbers, and more than one guild of dubious character operates from the slouching, unsteady buildings of the Puddles.
Wise Quarter: Within the city itself, the Wise Quarter stands just north of the Ivy District, separating the affluence of that neighborhood from the immense Azlanti Keep. Absalom’s public government buildings stand in the Wise Quarter, including the Grand Council’s
hall and the residence of the Primarch. In addition, the Wise Quarter houses the Arcanamirium, one of Golarion’s most adept institutions of magic (founded by the Arclords of Nex). Numerous independent sages,
scholars, and scribes also work within the Wise Quarter, blending their philosophies and skills brought from a dozen home countries.
The local guards and magistrates think themselves important so take care not to get on their bad side. We can go out whenever you are all ready.

M Tiefling Rogue 6

Gorn looks at Saltuk a little confused by his broken dialect,
What is your purpose for going into the city? As I mentioned, I know the city well, or at least as well as one can know a city of this size. Shouldn't we wait to receive orders before running off on some scouting mission?

M Tiefling Rogue 6

Gorn nods his head in his odd way of deference,
Gorn is the name, I can use my blades well enough but its not my best attribute so to speak. he slides out a dagger and balances its sharp tip on his finger not even moving his hand to balance it, it is so still. He catches it after a moment.
He then looks at her in a dark manner, his eyes flaring ever so slightly in Devilish power....in an almost threatening manner, but not directed at anyone in particular...Playing up my skill focus Intimidate...
My skills are more useful in Absalom proper, I grew up here and have many skills associated to more...let's say....convert activities. I also have some contacts on the street if needed. I am at the groups service.

M Tiefling Rogue 6

Pleasure Vali...a healer huh, count yourself as one of my friends, its always good to have someone along with your skills! he says squeezing the mans shoulder.

M Tiefling Rogue 6

1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

Gorn tries to slide behind the construct at the mention of leadership, but instead almost trips into Aemon...

M Tiefling Rogue 6

Gorn was used to being not told everthing, sometimes nothing about his purpose. He sat back casually while the others seemed to deal with the uncertainty. As things wrap up he finally speaks bowing his head slightly in defference...
Sir, lead on, we puppies are ready for your commands.

It was good to be back in Absalom. His absence hopefully put some time between himself and his enemies. He would have to look up a couple of his old contacts given time though if he was to prove his full worth...

M Tiefling Rogue 6

I was just thinking about the second darkness AP. In that AP, "Drow" as a race are not known yet. As far as they are known in Golarion, these just look like dark skinned elves. I wanted to get some input from NightFlier before I/we go too far with my assumptions around the "dark skinned elves".

M Tiefling Rogue 6

Gorn looks around at the scene, unsure of the groups next steps. The group seems to be evenly divided between the Drow, the rest of them, and then the construct.
Can he trust the drow? He has heard that they slay each other as much as they kill others, and sometimes for the smallest slight.
The Desnan seems fairly harmless, and the Hobgoblin, he is not sure what to make of him yet.
The construct just mystifies Gorn. It seems to have its own will??? Who has ever heard of such a thing. It even speaks...in its own odd way. Well he wasn't going to be the one to start it up with wand wielder...

M Tiefling Rogue 6

Gorns new statement going forward is going to be...send the construct in, we can search through the pieces afterwards....

M Tiefling Rogue 6

Ready to go!!!

Still here...just hoping that the itch I picked up at the brothel doesn't turn out to be anything more serious

M Tiefling Rogue 6

Gorn checking in.

As far as his motivations, he is not really sure what to make of this yet. I guess he is hoping the Blackdogs can teach him some things but right now he is kind of homeless and directionless so he guesses it is for the money or power....

Gorn sits down and puts on his best "don't mess with me" look... :)

Gorn sits in the back, trying not to call any additional attention to himself...this much Drow evil in one place is enough to unnerve even a man with Devilish blood in his veins...then you add in the construct standing in the middle of the room, it's unhuman eyes seemingly watching everyone....Gorn is unsure that he made the right decision accepting Kellen's offer and coming to this place... :)

True...I guess I have never had a character with his Dex this high before...will fix it, thx.

Gorn is close to being done, welcome any feedback...

Gorn walks into the recruits area...seeing all of the drow
I didn't know this was a Drow noble house...which one of you is the matron of the house?, he smiles before sitting next to Scranford.

I guess we were born on the wrong side of the demon pits eh???
:)

Cool, will start to work on Gorns worked up stats....looking forward to it!

As the party is looking pretty evil, take my lawful good alignment, turn it to lawful evil == take everything in my background and turn it around 180 degrees. Make me an evil race of aasimar that serves the diabolic court.

My character, if chosen, is not evil. Deep down he is not a bad person, he has just done what he had to to survive on the streets and some of the things he did hurt some people. So far he hasn't killed anyone in cold blood.

Depending on the missions, I can see Gorn becoming LN and basically a good person or LN with some bad leanings and habits. It might be good to have some party contention...makes for good RP. Some may vote to accomplish a mission in one way while the other side may vote for it another way. I wouldn't change anything until you know if you are chosen and the entire party makeup :)

Hey nightflier, this is terok. Posting with an avatar and a little more structure around him, of course if I am chosen I will adjust background or other items as need to fit in with the campaign theme as well as format the character and finalize skills, equipment...
Let me know if you have any questions of comments for me.

I see this character as being a little bit of an outsider when he starts, more of a lone wolf but transitioning to LN as his bond with the Blackdogs grows and he learns to trust his team more. This is where the Cavalier part really comes in, from his training with them. Their training will help him hone his abilities and add some new ones.

Likely he will be using as much stealth as possible so Gorn being a little bit more of a loner might fit in with the group with that regard.
