Well, tomorrow the navy will send me to foreign shores for a yet unknown period of time. I will try to continue updating as often as possible, but I will not be able to promise anything. I should return sometime in October, probably closer to the end. If I can't post at all, then it was fun playing with you guys and I'll check back in a few months from now. If I can still get to a computer, I'll post as often as I'm able.

"Well, the mites have stolen something precious from a good friend of ours so we did aim to try and teach them a lesson. But these biggineses you recognized are reformed; they don't steal from people any more. Do you think we could negotiate with the mites as well? As the smartest creature in the forest I'm sure you can tell us the extent of what the mites have done."

Gordom, feeling rather grumpy and irritated from the past several minutes of time he could have been asleep, grabs the key from Shix and starts to undo the manacles. Addressing the girl under the cart, Gordom attempts to figure out why their party has been the target of these pranks or at least keep the girl talking long enough for Najara to get another read on her location. "So the tiny dragon's name is Perlivash? The Ginger's name is Vivian and mine is Gordom. What's yours?"

"You laugh on a hunt, the deer hears you, it escapes. You have no food. You have no furs. The only question now is whether the cold or the hunger kills you first. You've seen death, but have you ever seen him when he's coming for you? It's a different world we grew up in, city-girl." From Vivian's perspective, looking into Gordom's eyes, it's possible to see that her words have softened him a little but he's not ready to give up on his anger just yet.

Spoiler:
Perception 1:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Perception 2:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 Sense Motive:1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7 Gordom frantically checks his trousers before he realizes Vivian was just messing with him. By the gods, is there ever a time when you're serious? How did you ever make it in a temple of Pharasma? I thought her followers were supposed to be solemn people.

Gordom is not the least bit amused at Vivian's happy go lucky attitude and lets her know with a scowl. You need to take this a lot more seriously. Sure, these are harmless pranks but whoever did this was probably also the one who unstrung my bow and tied your ankles; things that could have gotten us hurt if the fight was against anything more dangerous than a couple of kobolds.

Shocked awake by the blow to his ribs, Gordom bolts upright. His right hand is already halfway to his mace when it comes to a sudden stop. "Wha-...What's going on? Seeing Najara rushing around the camp, Gordom calls out to hear while trying to gentle awaken the sleeping girl. Najara, what's going on?

"While I agree that it's not ideal, I just don't see a way to ensure that we can trust Jesse with his freedom. Considering that we were instructed to execute any bandits we find, however, I think he will agree that this is a more pleasant alternative. When a solution presents itself, we will reconsider the situation."

Deciding they aren't worth the arrows, Gordom puts his bow away.

Having finally restrung his bow, Gordom scans about for a new target.

Okay, I do have to ask. What is Franco doing during all this? I was under the impression that he wasn't bound at all, he was just under watch. So is he helpin fight, attempting to escape, or just cowering uselessly in the cart? And should we be worried about his friend trying to escape? And thank you for the well-wishes Vivian. They are appreciated.

Well, the handy iPhone has all the symbols I need for dice rolls, I might just have shorter and less frequent posts for a little while. I believe I'll be going on deployment soon after reaching my new station. I don't know how that will affect my posting ability, but it may be worthwhile to allow the dm to take over Gordom during that period or recruit another player. It's up to you guys if it becomes a problem.

Gordom draws his bow and begins to eye out a target.

Possible precaution could be to have Vivian and najara in the back of the cart as well in order to keep an eye on the two bandits and to watch our backs. Other than that, I will keep as much of a lookout as possible while assisting Juwwem. I know that the gnomes pretty much filled us in on mites, but I would like to make a check of my own solely to see how much Gordom already knew. I doubt it will reveal any new information, but what the heck: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

While we are talking out of character I must admit that I, as a player, completely forgot about Franco. Gordom, however, is going to be unwilling to just leave the man behind in the state he is in after all that he's done for us. Gordom hopes that he can save and reform Franco, and now hopefully Jesse, so he's not going to want to leave until there is some kind of solution to the problem other than leave them tied up in the cart until we get back.

"How about a compromise? If the intent is to spend the day resting, I will instead scout the trail and see how far along it I can get in half a day's journey. If I am able to find the tree the mites live in in only that time, then taking care of the problem immediately would only take a couple extra days at most. If, on the other hand, I am unable to reach the tree, then I will make a note of where I left the trail and we can try to regain it at a later time after we deal with the Stag Lord. Would this be agreeable to everyone?

"While I certainly agree with you on needing every advantage, I don't know if surprise will do us much good in this situation. It has worked so well for us in the past because we were dealing with a small and disorganized band who weren't expecting anyone to fight back. The Stag Lord lives in a fortress and has a guard that is bigger than this group. Even if we did catch them with their pants down, so to speak, it is unlikely we would be able to press the advantage as easily as we did here. No offense to Jesse or Franco, but we were able to completely take over their base camp in 30 seconds. That won't happen here." Realizing that he has been rambling, Gordom stops and starts again.

"Well, one of the things that needs to be decided is whether we first go after the...wait a minute. Juwwem can you still speak with animals? When Shix and I went for the horses something had scared them whjile we were gone. Any chance you could figure out what it was?" Regardless of Juwwem's answer, Gordom continues. "What needs to be decided is whether we first go after the mites or the Stag Lord. I would suggest the mites as we have the least information about them. We know where the Stag Lord lives and chances are he will still be there in a couple of days. Since the only information we have about the mites is their trail and that they live in a sicamore tree, it makes sense to go while the trail is still fresh." Now, the squirrel really did mean sicamore right? Not Sycamore, a type of tree? can I make a knowledge nature check to see if I have any idea what he's talking about? "As for retrieving Oleg's cart, I think it's a brilliant job for Andarr. But it takes to long to be a good idea for the rest of us. It would be a 40 hour round trip even with the horses. Since it's the start of a new day we should probably make a decision, tend wounds, and head after one of these two groups."
