So, my son has been watching the old cartoon, which is a pretty cool treatment of gargoyles. So, gargoyles seem like they could be really neat monsters.

But it seems like in our pencil-and-paper RPGs, they don't make much sense.

CE Medium monstrous humanoid (earth)
Speed 40 ft., fly 60 ft. (average)
Languages Common, Terran
Freeze (Ex) A gargoyle can hold itself so still it appears to be a statue. A gargoyle that uses freeze can take 20 on its Stealth check to hide in plain sight as a stone statue.

And in Golarion there's Xoveron, the demon lord of gargoyles and ruins, who wants to destroy all civilizations.

But...they're earth-element humanoids that hide in cities by standing still so they can steal trinkets and eat homeless people? How on earth did that kind of monster society come about? And then...kapoacinths?

Has there ever been an "Ecology of the Gargoyle"-type article, to make more sense of this? Not in "Dragon", apparently.

OIC! ;)

I loves me some dwarves, though...!

So, let's imagine a small party of heavily armored adventurers walking along a sea floor, passing between them a bottle of air. Well and good! But if they don't reach the surface before the end of the day, they'll drown in their sleep.

Can they use tiny hut to create a shelter to sleep in as they continue their underwater journey? Does it have air in it? Can they fill it with air?

I assume a secure shelter would flood. A magnificent mansion would be safe for air-breathers underwater, since outside conditions do not affect the inside, but would the space created by a rope trick flood, since objects can freely pass through the uncloseable portal?

The piercer is for those dungeons for which the darkmantle is just too new-school. This version varies a bit from the CC version and the version in the Tome of Horrors. If there's another version somewhere, plz point me the way!

A piercer is a troglobitic arthropod with a shell that resembles a daggerlike stalactite. Similarly to cave fishers and Arachnocampa luminosa, they attack prey from cave ceilings, but rather than angling for prey, they dive-bomb it. Piercers conceal themselves among natural stalactites and drop on passing creatures, attempting to pierce them. Then they swarm over injured prey, battering it with their elongated shell like a club.

Hi, at the beginning of August I placed an order for the Pathfinder Adventure Path subcription, the Pathfinder Companion subscription, and the latest issues of Kobold Quarterly.

KQ was charged and shipped. On my subscriptions page, it originally showed an estimated August shipping date for:
1x Pathfinder Companion: Qadira, Gateway to the East (PFRPG) Print Edition
1 x Pathfinder Adventure Path #25: The Bastards of Erebus (Council of Thieves 1 of 6)
1 x Pathfinder Companion: Cheliax, Empire of Devils (PFRPG) Print Edition

But now, while the Qadira companion is still in my subscriptions, AP #25 and the Cheliax companion have disappeared from my subscriptions. It says AP #26 will be the next AP volume to ship, and "Dwarves of Golarion" will be the next Companion volume to ship.

I would really like "Bastards of Erebus" and the Cheliax Companion, please! Getting this AP and Kingmaker were the main reasons for subscribing!
