History:
Gimble Frug, is, to put it lightly, a snake-oil salesman. He was mentored by his older brother Frumble, who was thief and con-artist. Frumble had gone on several adventures and along the way learned some magic, which he began to teach to his younger brother. Always a wanderer, Frumble took his brother out on the road and they went from town to town fleecing the locals, using their simple magic to convince rubes and suckers that they had powerful magic wands and potions for sale to put magic in the hands of common folk. By the time their customers realized they’d been swindled, the Frug Brothers were long gone.
There was a small problem. Frumble also had a nasty gambling problem, and liked to squander their earnings on high risk games of chance. One night, when they’d gotten a particularly good haul and splurged for a nice room at a local inn, some angry men came looking for Frumble. He of course, vanished without a trace before the men could, leaving Gimble on his own and a bit bitter. But he still had all his brother’s spell books and fake potions. And a knife that his brother used to use to convince folks that he had a wand of levitation.
This was still better than getting a day job, so Gimble continued the con game, moving around to different towns, peddling his fake magic items. He’d learned to disguise himself so that he could quickly get out unnoticed.
The Mystery of the Magic Trees - Recently Gimble has heard tales of a midsummer magic apple that heals people and the saplings from the apple vanish. He’s determined to learn about this wonderful con.
Appearance:
Really this depends on who’s looking. Gimble has learned tricks to disguise himself using combinations of clothing, makeup and spells. He will sometimes use Disguise Self to make himself look like a short Elf or human, and will frequently make himself look like an old man or woman to escape notice. Usually if somebody’s been peddling fake magic items in your town, and you see a really old, hunched over man or woman walking the other way from the commotion, that’s probably Gimble.
When he’s not in disguise, Gimble has bright blue hair and dresses in fine clothes with a top hat. He’s clean-shaven and usually smirking about something. He might even be considered garish by gnome standards.
