backstory - Giantslayer:

Gertrude was born in a small settlement not too far from Trunau, but far enough to not have the protections of the town.

despite its location, her little village managed to survive. though there were occasional Orc raids, the small stature of most of the halfling inhabitants allowed them to hide and just rebuild when the orcs would leave.

All that changed when a visitor arrived at the settlement. he was an adventurer type, his party recently had an ill-fated encounter with some giants.

though he didn't stay long, the Giants trcked him to the settlement and begane to ransak the entire settlement and surrounding land.

No halfling ws spared but there was one survivor, Gertrude. She was only a small child but her mother managed to hide her from the carnage.

Gertrude was found two days later wandering the wastelands until she was found by an Orc clan known as the Bloody Fangs. For whatever reason, Gertrude was raised by the Ocs and learned to fight like an Orc.

She became more savage than her halfling bretheren, but all "good" things come to an end, the Bloody Fangs were wiped out by a group of adventurers from Trunau.

Gertrude was brought back to Trunau and she eeked out an existance living on the streets. Her isolation and traumatic upbringing left its mark on her. She slowly started to loose her mind. she became more barbaric and more prone to violence.
